Absolutely lovely spot as others have described although keep in mind there will be noise from logging trucks and operations down the road. The gravel road is in good shape, very little corrugation or potholes. Easily doable in a 25ft motorhome. Plenty of spots on a Monday afternoon, it did end up being full by the evening but I think if you explored a bit you'd find a pullout somewhere if needed. Swimming was cold but the beach gets sun all day long.
Report Check-InAs described - 6 to 8 sites, only a couple are not oceanfront. Clean pit toilet. Creek for non-potable fresh water. Pack your trash out! Yes - road in is dusty, rocky & washboardy because it's an active logging road so pay attention and go slow. Did not see any marine life but witnessed a parade of cruise ships.
Report Check-InSome water sites are north facing and provide good starlink connectivity
Report Check-InAbsolutely a MUST if you are in the area. Beautiful Oceanside spots, complete silence. Watched salmon jump all day, saw a pod of dolphins and many seals. We got one very spotty bar of LTE at our site, the further one from the road. We had the creek in front of us and the ocean on the side of us. Magical spot. One of our favorite camping sites to date. It’s worth the drive in. Stayed a night on Stella lake (HIGHLY recommend) and then traveled here, only about 15 minutes apart.
Report Check-InFirst time ever camping coastal & it certainly proved a treat, smashed some shrooms and went on a long beach walk towards moriarty point before headed to my hammock for a relaxed arvo
Report Check-InAbsolutely lovely place. This is Elk bay rec site. 14 days max free camping. Seals and sea lions by the shore all day. Other campers mentioned they've seen Orcas from their spot. There's fire pits. On Sunday 3 spots available from about 10. But even if full there's places to park before the camp. Btw it's a 15 km gravel road but manageable with any vehicle. People kayaking and fishing. My favorite place
Report Check-Inbeautiful spot as described by others!Pretty busy but I think everywhere is this year! We were lucky to get the last spot at 1.30pm on a wednesday and it looks like most are settled in for the weekend. having said that, its relatively quiet and the other campers are friendly and respectful. lovely drive in on a maintained forestry road, plenty of people bring their boats, trailers and RVs down. Some noise from the logging trucks, the logging activitys and passing boats, but that didnt bother us.
no whales while we were hear (one of the real reasons we came) but lots of porpoises following the incoming tide and eagles flying past.
Would recommend and would come again!
Back again for another fantastic visit. Elk Bay Road is no w open to travel in by. The views here and simply amazing. It will be hard to leave. We'll worth planning to spend at least a few days here.
Report Check-InCette endroit est superbe vous devez faire 15 km de gravel et quelques côtes de 20%. Prendre la première entré au Nord du rest area
Report Check-InStella Lake is located just to the southeast of here. there is another post at the Stella Lake campspot with the correct coordinates. maybe a moderator can move this comment as a checkin to the correct post.
