Viewing platform.
Very beautiful spot high above in a tree, with spectacular view across the forest canopy to the straw-coloured fruit bat colony, only during the migration season (Oct-Dec). Visitors outside this season are unlikely to see any mammals, and may find the hide is not maintained and ready for use. You are not supposed to visit without a guide.
To reach the hide, you need to walk app. 1 km from the parking through reed and high grass. The path is under water from Jan-May, and may also be a bit muddy outside of that time.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This hide/viewing platform is specifically designed for the purpose of viewing the bats during the migration (Oct-Dec). Outside of this period no-one is expected to climb it. It will deteriorate over the rainy season, and gets repaired and maintained in Aug/Sept ready for the bat migration again. This is why the previous visitor reported that it was not safe in July, but actually it is perfectly safe when used as intended, for the bat viewing! They should probably put a sign on it at other times of the year to prevent people using it unexpectedly.

Very beautiful spot high above in a tree, but I didn’t see any animals.
Take care when climbing, the wooden stairs are not safe (stairs were breaking under my feet)!
