We spent one night here. Very quiet place. There is no wind protection. Highly recommend visiting the nearby CASLEO astronomical observatory (located in Parque Nacional El Leoncito, just across the main road). They do night-time tours on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, which are extraordinarily informative. We had a wonderful guide who shared tons of knowledge with us, and got to see the moon, various nebulae, galaxies, and stars up close with CASLEO’s telescope. Don’t miss it!

Amazing spot. Fantastic views of the nevados over the pampa. If it’s windy, there’s no wind protection. We got lucky and had a super quiet, calm night with no wind. Highly recommended.
Try to visit the nearby CASLEO astronomical observatory if you can (located in El Leoncito national park) – it is an AMAZING visit that only costs around $3.50 USD. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us a 2 hour nighttime tour, viewing a ton of celestial bodies with CASLEO’s 12-inch telescope and binoculars, and sharing his extensive knowledge of the cosmos with us. This is a don’t-miss activity.
