Latest Check-Ins

The biggest part of this scenic drive is asphalt and 'good' ripio, however... roadconstruction is still going on and we had 1 little part, 500 meters or so, with deep, very deep mud. We saw several cars and trucks who got stucked and some didn't even bother trying. I think we were the only ones who managed, with 4x4, but it was hard and we urgently need a lavadero! Even our rooftent was full of mud! I assume this muddy part is only temporary, otherwise almost nobody could pass. Good luck & enjoy.

Go there!! One of the most fascinating roads on this world. Yes, you have to slow down. It is a big road work (construction site) and high clearance is helpful. But the views and the surrounding flora is awsome.

Report Check-In

Not as wet in early July, but still plenty treacherous. Road is still bad, muddy spots. Saw a 2 wd van make it through, but some of the ruts are quite deep and the more clearance the better. We passed through at 2 pm and weren't stopped. Heading west, the worst of the road is through by this point, but still lots of slower going gravel and road works.

Report Check-In

Still in construction, mudslide everywhere. Avoid this route, a nightmare. It was so dangerous.

Report Check-In

From approx Epizana to Comarapa this road is rough and very slow. Frequent stops & waits for works and contraflows. Took us over 8 hrs to get from Incallajta to Samaipata. Major works likely to be on-going for a long time, at least well into 2017.
