Quiet parking lot in a city park by the river. Easy access to the river walk and an easy walk to some of the East Austin downtown area. Parked here one night. Felt safe here. Looks like overnight parking in most places of the park is okay (look for signs) - saw a couple vans, schoolies and one big rig parked in other lots and a long the streets.

very close spot to downtown austin with plenty of parking. we stayed on the boat launch street like a previous poster recommended for 3 nights with no issues. one night we did leave our light on a little later than usual (we don't usually stealth camp, just visiting austin) and a cop did drive by announcing the park was closes. we waited a bit to see if they would return and they did not. we walked the first night up to whole foods which was quite a walk. felt pretty safe the whole time but there are a lot of homeless and mentally ill who consider the park their home. as long as you lock your doors and plan walking times to where you feel comfortable you should be fine.

There are two lots here: one (farther up the hill and tagged here) is posted “No Parking/Municipal Employees Only” and the other (closer to the water, for park day users) is posted “No Overnight Parking”. However the road between the park’s lot and the I-35 Overpass has no signs about parking on the River side of the street and was filled with cars when I arrived, so I found a spot for my van there. (Note that it is posted no parking/permit only on the west side of the overpass.) By nightfall there were fewer cars but still plenty, including some other RVs and vans. It was quiet—the traffic from I-35 sounded soft and in the distance—and peaceful for one night. The only drawbacks were the tilt (slightly toward the river) and the distance to shops/restaurants—at least a half mile walk in whatever direction, partially along the I-35 service road. The path along the water in the park was busy with local runners and dog walkers in the morning. I would stay here again!

Report Check-In

Got woken up at 6:30am by a park maintenance worker. He pulled up in a truck and a big trailer looked like he was about to set up for something. There’s tons of vans all throughout this park, but he only woke us up in this parking lot in the back. May be because he was just setting up for something or he was just there and took the opportunity to wake us up in the parking lot.

Spent the night in the parking lot — quiet, no problems, and by the morning several other vans had parked as well. Nice view of sunrise too. :)

We ended up street parking closer to the water. Stayed two nights in a row and had no issues. Lots of other vans too. Nice park - very pet friendly

Stealth camped with our sprinter here last night. Two other vans ended up doing the same thing. Very level parking, public restroom very close to the parking lot and there’s a beautiful trail along the river. Not the quietist of parking spots but still good.

Lovely spot! Easy access to the park bathroom and water. We slept here last night with no issues.

Report Check-In

As described nice quiet parking lot in park, spent one night in van. no issues, full ATT service, bathroom across street no lights so make sure to visit the bathroom before dark.

An awesome place to spend the night! The location of this pin leads to a parking lot that has signs saying “park curfews 10pm” but if you drive down the road toward the boat launch or otherwise look around there are plenty of places to park discreetly. There are park toilets, garbages and recycling bins, and loads of trails around.

Report Check-In

Quiet parking lot. Spent one evening no issues. Near Colorado River.
