absolutely beautiful spot. quiet. safe. level. (stay out of the soft sand!) don't follow Google maps. take the next entrance marked in this app. pet friendly. 4 bars Verizon. we got to ride in an ultralight for $50 usd each and got two expensive and delicious pina coladas from a passing truck (400 pesos).

Report Check-In

Beautiful secluded beach with only one other rig. Was recommended by a local friend and then I discovered it was on iOverlander.

Report Check-In

Beautiful easy stop. North of San Felipe

Report Check-In

Area is as described but heed the warning. Google Maps will bring you down the wrong road. The road ends within sight of the camping area at a deep ditch. With soft sand all around is difficult for big rigs with 2 wheel drive to get turned around. We've stopped several rigs from driving into the ditch. One road to the south is the correct road. The pin for the correct road is: 31.1452413, -114.9142744

Report Check-In

Great spot for a couple of days. couple other campers but enough space for everyone that was here. Ended up pulling someone out, so be careful to stick to the packed sand. We made it with very little problem with a 36' fithwheel.

Report Check-In

Google maps will take you dow the wrong road, make sure to take the road just south (see other comments) If you drive up and start to see buildings you’re on the wrong road. Very chill spot, just one other camper. Felt very safe. Soft sand to camp on. Low tide so not a great swim spot, but very beautiful and peaceful.

Report Check-In

Easy to access with our 24ft van. Solid road and lots of space. The smell of sage is strong. And a little sad to not be on the water. But great nonetheless!

Report Check-In

This is probably the best place to camp if you wish a quiet spot. A few places to choose from. As others have noted, not a good place for a swim as the water is too far away.

Report Check-In

Great spot, easy to get to, very quiet, shelter from wind (although it wasn't very windy) if you tuck in next to the dunes. beautiful smell of wildflowers as we watched the sunrise

Report Check-In

we been here before, it is a good place to spend time when in San Felipe. This should be our go.

Report Check-In

Awesome spot right on the water. Take the road further South as many other comments recommend. Had no issues getting stuck but can imagine you easily could if you too close to the water. Other campers nearby which made us feel nice and safe but still far enough away to feel secluded.

Report Check-In

Lovely spot for my first night in Baja!! Quiet and beautiful sunrise. Wind picked up very strong shortly after sunrise, and big fast tide exchange. Otherwise I would have gone paddling.

Followed the instructions to drive in on the road that goes between where the utility lines go underground and had no problem with traction/road conditions.

Report Check-In

Very nice place close to the see, even if with low tide, the sea is far. Nice sand lagoon. The sunrise is so beautiful!

Report Check-In

Quiet site with only a bit of room of hard packed sand otherwise might get stuck
One fire ring
Tide is out at least 1/2 mile leaving mud flats

Report Check-In

Amazing and quiet night on the beach!
3 other rigs at the same time. We used the coordinates below to find the right entry. 2x4
No problem!

Report Check-In

Great little campsite on the beach. Road is fine for most vehicles. Took our 22 ft shuttle bus in fine. The road to go on actually isn’t on google maps. Take the road that isn’t on google maps just south of the road that google maps tells you. The one that google maps tells you has more soft sand and you’re likely to get stuck without a 4x4

Report Check-In

Nice place, except for the wild dogs on both sides of the beach. They stay in their territories but are annoying when walking. Make sure to choose the right entry road if you don‘t have a not too heavy 4x4 or want to get stuck at the end. Entry Mex 5: 31.14534, -124.91419. One place a litte more secluded about 200 m away from the beach (the spot is well frequented)

Report Check-In

Great spot. Be littke careful on the sand by the sea. Tide can change quite a bit over night. Great phone signal.

Report Check-In

Beautiful, quiet and secluded spot! But really trashy when I arrived with a lot of dog (and maybe human) feces scattered. I spent several hours picking up as much trash as I could with the bags I had and buried about a dozen poops.
Still, probably the best free spot I've seen.
Hoping future campers keep this gem of a place clean for everyone to enjoy.

Report Check-In

Very nice spot! 4 other rigs when we visited. Make sure you stay on the hard-packed sand since it gets soft quickly. And be sure to take the road that goes between where the power lines go underground.

Report Check-In

Nice free spot just North of San Felipe. A total of 5 rigs parked and still lot more space available. Great spot to see the sunrise too. Sand is soft and golden on the beach and fun beach combing. We needed AWD to access the camp spot the way Google maps shows it, but there is an easier road with firm sand. Scout it before you commit. Several folks at the beach mentioned getting stuck

Report Check-In

Spent a couple nights here. Great for SUP, as there are sand bars that separate the water into even calmer sections once the tide rises enough.

Met two other van couples while here. Saw a few other trucks come and go for a quick stopover too. While we were here, 3 cars got stuck… the instructions here aren’t so great so here’s an attempt to help. Attached is a photo of the proper hard sand road to turn in on. Google Maps will direct you just one road too far to the north off the main highway. See photo with red arrow. If you go the route Google Maps says and it looks like you need to go right at the end of the road to get to the spot, don’t do it if you’re worried about getting stuck. I have an AWD Ford Transit with BFG KO2s and with a little gas and jerking the steering wheel left and right, it was fine. But others weren’t as lucky.

Just take the correct road down and anyone can make it. There are two little spots in that road with softer sand, but again, just punch the gas a bit and any car will be fine.

Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Definitely stop here if passing through San Felipe.

Report Check-In

Location is beautiful, however, I didn't park on or even near the beach because there were way too many loose wild dogs down there charging my car. I drove down there multiple times to try to find a spot and just ended up seeing more loose dogs that kept charging my car. I have a small dog so I didn't want to be bothered with that. I ended up parking further up which was okay. Loud music and singing did start pretty much as soon as it got dark so I almost left, but fortunately it stopped by 10pm. I'm not sure I'd stay here again but it is beautiful with views of sea, mountains, flowers, and few cacti.

Report Check-In

Very nice and quiet place at the beach. Location can be easily accessed, no 4WD required, as long you do not drive in beach sand.

We enjoyed our stay and felt safe.

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay with cool breeze and gorgeous sunrise. There is a parking area in right before the dunes start. Take the road just south of what google maps suggest to get to the spot.

Report Check-In

Oh and i forgot to mention: The road to drive here is OK with good tires (or 4x4) but dont drive in to the beach! The Sand is very soft and we needed all 4x4, Lower Gear, and Sand ladders to get out!

Report Check-In

Still working .. No people showed up and so we felt pretty safe! Ocean is not the best for taking a swim.. Because its dark sand, the water is not clear!

Report Check-In

As described, a great find! Large tide range, excellent shelling at low tide.

Report Check-In

As others have said, DON'T GO DOWN THE ROAD THAT GPS/ GOOGLE MAPS TAKES YOU. It is 1km of horrible washboard followed by an extremely Sandy road in which you will get stuck. This is the first time we have gotten properly stuck after 2 weeks here in our two wheel drive Promaster. Luckily there were other van lifers nearby that helped us out and we had traction boards. Airing down makes a big difference! If you take the next turn-off to the south, it is a straight drive in on a packed road with a small amount of washboard and loose spots but nothing significant.

The spot itself is lovely, large sandy beach with shallow sand a long way out - lots of crabs, shells, other beach life as well as some small sand dunes. Great spot for our last day in Mexico!

Also, the Highway 5 to the south of here is a great road all the way until it meets with the 1. Google Maps will overestimate the time from here to the Hwy 1 intersection by about 1 hour because it thinks the road is still a winding gravel road when it is in fact one of the newest and best highways in Baja.

Report Check-In

A great first stop in Baja! We camped just to the left as the road ended at the beach, other overlanders in vans to the right (take the second last right turn off - the last turn off to the right is soft, deep sand so we didn’t risk it, hence why we just pulled to the left). Road was hard and easy to drive in. No problems with our f250 & travel trailer. We deflated the tires on the truck once we got to the beach. Watch where you drive, easy to see how people get stuck. Loved this spot. Beautiful sunrise and great paddle boarding at high tide! We got to see a grunion run, amazing!

Report Check-In

Great free safe camp spot on the water outside San Felipe. Be careful driving on soft sand areas many others reported getting stuck so we watched and drove carefully but in the daylight where to drive was obvious and no issue. We did not get stuck. Beautiful sunrise! Quiet and secluded.

Report Check-In

31.14534, -114.91419 off the mex 5 (not in maps me), good hard sandy road, exept the end, soft sand a few meters, for us easy possible, just bevor the soft sand turn right to avoid this deep soft Sand (only few meters), beach ist endless, pelecans and waves, no waste, no stray dogs

Report Check-In

Awesome place for clamming at low tide. Good spot to swim at during high tide:) very private. Prepare for the flies:)
Our 3rd day here and we don’t want to leave!

Report Check-In

We are traveling in an AWD safari van. Don’t go straight towards the buildings. Keep right & you shouldn’t have any problems. This spot seems extremely safe. We got stuck near the buildings but the owner helped us out:) we gave him 400 pesos for his time. We arrived as the tide was going out but it doesn’t seem like this is a good swim spot. Tomorrow we will try to walk to the end of the sandbar for a swim. Will post again with an update on the “swimmability” of the area. Thanks for posting this spot!

Report Check-In

We have a big beach mostly to ourselves. There are a few houses visible and a couple of dune buggies raced up and down the beach around dark. Sunny and warm during the day, but windy. The water goes out a long ways, maybe half mile, at low tide leaving mud flats.

Report Check-In

Good free spot, reminded us of San Felipe 20 years ago. Follow the GPS coordinated posted before for easy access. Very soft sand if you try to drive straight to the beach. Back up and drive down the track to the south (right) to access the entire area.

Report Check-In

Nice spot but be aware of where your driving because you can get stuck in sand here in certain “soft” areas of the road in to the location, if you’re prepared (as you should be, it’s Baja) then no issues.

Report Check-In

Turn in off Hwy 5 @ 31.14534,-114.91419 to get to site on solid road. Road your gps takes you on is next road to North that goes through very soft sand. I got stuck with my 4x4 on other road, so did a school bus earlier in the day. Once you get to the site it is pretty awesome beach (miles of white sandy beach) and a sandbar. Secluded and 3 other vehicles well spread out from one another for night. You are sure to enjoy and well worth the visit.

Report Check-In

So here’s the deal, there is a couple from California who owned the properties to the right of this campground. They’ve spent their whole life coming to and from here. Pete hired 2 Mexicanos who are AMAZING people. We got stuck in our 23,000 lb skoolie (still stuck while writing this) they all three spent all day working on getting the bus out and are currently getting a tractor down to pull it. Shame on me for pulling my bus down here. However. There is ONE road that has loose sand and it runs parallel to the beach. Don’t take it without 4x4 and lightweight. The 3 roads that are perpendicular to the beach are good with 2x4 but nothing over 16,000 lbs. if you see their Jeep or Silverado make sure to know and say hello!

Report Check-In

good place for sleeping, don't need 4wd, not for rv

Report Check-In

We stayed here our first and second night on Baja cause it was so beautiful. Spend Christmas on the beach next to the ocean. We met two couples in vans who also found the spot on here, we actually had to tow one of the vans out of the sand. We then all had some drinks together that night. Wonderful start to driving down Baja.

Report Check-In

Great spot, nobody here and many spots to park for free right on the beach. Unfortunately a bit of trash around. Beautiful view and the driving surface is hard.

Report Check-In

Beautiful and safe spot to spend the night, easy access on flat road, and no one around through the night. The water was not really to go in as it looked good but there was not much else but mud. Great to spend the day by the sand
