Description

Missed the turn for Playa E. But followed another van down a road a few miles past the check point. 2wd easy but not in all places.
Lots of options for camp spots. Beach was littered with bones of seals and whales and fish.Weren’t bothered at all. Rocky beach surrounded by Joshua trees.

Type in ‘valley of the candles’ on google before leaving for this area, follow that road all the way to the water, simple as it gets. I aired down to 40psi (Promaster 2500), but def overkill to do that. Take the road to the end, it will “T”, stop here (50 yards from ocean, give or take) and get out and walk the front right road up about 100 yards or so to this ‘bluff’, perfect spot for a van, I’m totally level. But walk it first as there is softer sand there and idk what the wind may do weeks from now etc but to me it was easy driving over here.

I found a whole turtle shell and put it at the entrance to ‘Turtle Camp’ - safe from tides, perfect spot!! Bones all up and down the beach in all directions - If ‘turtle camp’ doesn’t work for your rig, cruise past it another 200 yards or so to a spot on left side, or another 2-300 yards passes that to the next spot. ‘Turtle camp’ is great bc sand beach is right in front, as opposed to the others which are rock beaches (even at low tide).

Ignore the scary BS, ‘my friend got stuck’, ‘broke my driveshaft’ 🤦‍♂️, this is simple baja driving 101 and you’re screwing yourself by not coming down here. No one for miles in any direction! Great beach! Private to say the least!

No telcel signal. Passable (barely) in 2wd. Washboard for about 3K. Beautiful, quiet, secluded spots. There a few places to choose from where the road branches out. Dog-friendly but I felt there may be coyotes in the area so keep your dog close. Made it in a 21 ft RV, and I don't think you could do it much larger due to some steep dips in the road. We got caught on one and managed to not do any damage.

UPDATE: we actually cracked our drive shaft here but didn't know until later.
