Very friendly stuff, spacy places, 4 clean toilets and showers with hot water, nice view, we loved this place

Report Check-In

Great showers! Hot and strong. The views are amazing! Common area with stove and refrigerator.

Report Check-In

had one night here then moved down the road to el camping 7 mil a night

Report Check-In

Stayed here on an especially windy day and there were a few good spots to place our roof tent. Spots for big rigs, ground tents (there are completely covered tent shelters also) and roof tents. Communal areas basic and somewhat dirty, but was great for a rainy windy day. Kitchen and bathrooms dirty but served their purpose. Hot showers. $7k pesos pp

Report Check-In

Cozy place to stay on tent, camper or motorhome. The street to get in is a bit tight but when you are inside is very big.

Has hot shower, bathroom, kitchen and a very beautiful view to the mountains.

Report Check-In

This place is in wrong location - it is located at -45.57214, -72.04391

Report Check-In

We stayed for one night, with a camper on a green place. The washrooms are simple but clean and very friendly owners. We paid now 7.000 cps pro Person .

Report Check-In

Difficult to access due to the construction on General Baquedano road. A big, very nice place directly at the forest. Enough toilets and showers. Inside like a hostel. Good WiFi.

Report Check-In

Tried to stay here but couldn't find it. There was construction happening in the proposed location so not sure if it actually exists anymore

Report Check-In

Still open in mid april. Price 6000 pesos pp.
Warm shower, wifi really fast, kitchen todo bien!
100m there is a restaurant la taberna d'olbek, good food/beers.
The owner is very kind and an interesting person, nice to chat with him.

Report Check-In

Good camp, some older comments are not valid (being a junk yard). There are few things like tires and containers, one car and a truck bed in a forest, but that's it.

Showers are clean, toilets good. No soap or paper as usual in Chile.

Owner is helpful. They make furniture there.

The only bad thing for us was dust in the motor home / car area. It's the fine dust, and when you walk it goes up making your shies and pants a mess. Our 4 year old looked like a miner before we left. Had to change clothes before getting into the car.

Tent area seemed very nice, between the trees. Good viewpoint area as well.

Report Check-In

Great place! All the basics you need are available. We had a rooftop tent and had a very nice and quiet night there. hot shower and a nice and warm common room with like minded people. Sergio is very helpful and helped us a lot with information about PCR and other bureaucracy you cross the border. Recommend!

Report Check-In

We paid 5,000 CLP per person per night. There is an indoor common room and kitchen with excellent WiFi signal. There is an outdoor shower block and toilets (two per gender). The water is very hot and the showers had good pressure. There is also an outdoor common room, although someone was camping inside it when we were there. It’s not the cleanest, but is satisfactory. There are a lot of dogs all over the campsite, including in the indoor common room. They barked throughout the night. Would not recommend staying here if you are not comfortable around dogs. Otherwise it is a relatively good stay for a site so close to the town.

Report Check-In

Good and simple camping, with a fast internet wifi. Hot showers, water (just in one point). 5000 pesos pp.

Report Check-In

Beautiful camping with a pine forest in the middle, has a lot of space for every tipe of campers, cars etc. Hosts are very kind and there is everything you need (hot water, wifi, inside minimarket, laundry service, common spaces, bike rental, kitchen, electricity) 5000 per person, bikes and laundry have extra charges. 4 shower for women and 4 for men and 5 toilets in total i think. Hot water runs all day n night with no problem but the showers are dirty. We had a very good time there.

Report Check-In

Very friendly owners. They put their hearts and souls into it. We paid 5000 Pesos per person. 5 year old did not pay. Electricity costs 2000 extra. Only two toilets and showers. They seem to notice the problem. Building new showers in high season might be a bit late. Also the dogs were barking all night, so not too quiet. And take care driving down to the camping. It is a steep and bumpy road. We only stayed one night.

Report Check-In

We used the bike rental on this camping called Ammonitesbikes. We rented very nice bikes (new ones)! The rental price was good. Actually cheaper than at other places in town. The bike rental is run by the son of the owner and he provides you with everything (helmet, pump, repair kit etc.). We could shower afterwards.

Report Check-In

Nice camping, looks a bit messy but very good services! The family is very frendly, they sell eggs and bred and other products.
The road to get there is a bit creepy.
We went there in low season and we paid 12000 pesos for two people and electricity.
Nice place!!

Report Check-In

camping aberto no outono. Área comum com calefação, banho com água quente e wifi. 5.000 pesos por pessoa

Report Check-In

Rundown, junkyard vibes, not very clean. But the owners are very friendly and it feels safe, we had a good, quiet sleep here, and there’s a warm lounge room w/ fireplace and kitchen. Other campsites around the city were closed for the off-season. Also they’ve got three dogs that chase your car and literally bite your tires as you drive.

Report Check-In

I have to add: AMAZING VIEW!!! I dejare a pic..

Report Check-In

Everything as the others say. Sergio is a very helpfull and friendly host. The place is ok. Sort of a day in a small farm. You have everything to cook there also.

Report Check-In

We've been to many campgrounds in SA and this one is not the worst. But wait, five stars? The best? Are you kidding? Or maybe we are talking about another South America in a parallel world?
To be honest, this place looks like a run down factory or workshop, especially the secondary common room. It has grassy ground and pine woods for tents but mostly its not level. Last night there were probably 40 tents and a few campers but there are TWO toilets only! Not enough place for so many people to sit, cook and eat either. The small shower room was dirty, seemed nobody has cleaned it, ever. It seems they try to use things the cheapest possible, like the swing which is so flimsy, and it is not properly fixed to the ground. I agree the owners seemed nice but having a seemingly nice owner alone (oh, plus a good wifi) doesn't make up a best five star camp ground, or does it?
I hope other travellers will not be misled.

Report Check-In

Nice view, some levelled spots. Not too clean, short of showers & toilets like mentioned before.

Report Check-In

this camping is not that good as described.
the view is certainly beautiful and the camping is quite big but there were A LOT of people when we went, and very little place for a tent.
bathroom was quite dirty and bad maintained. kitchen very dirty too...
we asked for the laundry service and they wanted to charge $4000 PER PERSON (??) when we asked why per person the girl couldn't explain... ( we were talking in Spanish)
in the end we went in another camping. $5000 is quite expensive for what it is..

Report Check-In

Big place; lots of space. Good wifi, and lots of power outlets. Really bad shower and cooking arrangements- one small kitchen/ stove and 1-2 showers for 50+ people. Showers are cold by the time you wait the line. Constant turf war between local and neighbour dogs. 5000pppn. Property is nice.... just needs a lot of work.

Report Check-In

Nice location, friendly owner, awesome view, 5min walk to the cerveceria... price is still 5000CLP pp. Coyhaique is expensive so good value for the price IMHO.

Report Check-In

Nice grassy area with lots of trees, feels more like nature than El Camping because it’s on the hill the other one is in a valley so it’s quite dark and you can’t see that far. 5.000 pp and nothing for the van. The bathrooms weren’t completely clean but still okay, bad thing was: only 3 bathrooms, each had a shower but only 2 had a toilet. So if 3 people want to shower there is no toilet available... The shower changed between hot and cold every second minute. Anyhow nice common and camping area and incredible fast WiFi everywhere, so a good option to spend a night or two.

I give Ammonites 5 stars, these are the points that I appreciated and some extra Infos:
-incredible view
-very cozy and heated common space indoor
-very good WiFi
-warm showers
-the price is 5000 because they have just installed a gas stove with oven as well
-the kitchen is also equipped with pots
-the owner are incredibly friendly and open to help
-the bathroom are clean, apparently they have been doing renovations to it.
-i have heard that the price for topping up your van with electricity and water is 2000.
-for the ones travelling by bike the son of the family also offers services of repairing and revision, you can also rent bikes here.

We have been welcomed very warm. The family is very friendly. We appreciated the indoor kitchen and common area. There have been young chilenian people enjoying some music but it was not disturbing us. Nice place, 5000 pp

Report Check-In

We came here so we could get good wifi and get laundry done. It is hard to find but as you look for the right lane to turn onto, you will see a small sign that says camping. we updated the way I t with the correct points. Go right to the end. The actual vehicle entrance is to the right of the main small gate but you have to check I anyway so they'll direct you.Worked out well. Can only do laundry if no one is showering..... Wifi was excellent and reached sites. They have two networks and good bandwidth. We found that place was clean and bathrooms were cleaned everyday; saw no dog poop anywhere and the common room is nice and toasty. When we checked we were told 4000pp but upon checking out we were asked for 5000pp but he relented.

Report Check-In

Place is ok for a night. A little bit difficult to find because there are no signs. It was cleaner than expected, but at this time of the year there was noone else around.
We got electricity and water. The price for us was 4000$ pp + 2000$ for electricity.

Report Check-In

On the plus side, Sergio is indeed very friendly, the wifi is indeed very pumping, and the mirador views are indeed beautiful.

On the down side, there was dog poop on the floor of the common area and the rest of the area wasnt much better, and cooking facilties are seriously lacking (i.e. there is one very fickle wood fired stove and a single dirty knife we came across between 2 couch cushions). Weren't game to test out the showers (and it appeared to be byoTP)

Report Check-In

True with wifi, very fast. A lot of street artists camp here so it's not quiet place in the night. In general place is not clean. A lot of dogs and cats.

Report Check-In

Bathroom situation is pretty terrible. Beautiful location but only 2 of 3 total bathrooms working but all are dirty and waits in the morning were about 30-40 minutes because showers are not separate from toilets. Would not recommend . On the plus side there are puppies and kittens...

Report Check-In

Great place, but difficult to find and narrow pathway down. Good WiFi and laundry!! 4000 per load, 2000 extra for drying, you can hang the clothes outside.
Very relaxed place. Yes, few bathrooms and all not new or posh.

Report Check-In

Pros: The fastest internet I've had for a long time! Really nice camp sites. Cheap.

Cons: Only two toilets and showers for the whole campsite mean queues are normal in the late morning and evening. Not the cleanest facilities. People playing instruments until 3am every night I stayed.

Report Check-In

The indoor place with stove is good to warm up, you can use their wood. They don't seem to care too much about hygiene, "cleant" the bathroom one time in our 3 day stay.. But still, good option for 4000 pesos a person.

Report Check-In

Owner was friendly, and there is a cooking space attached to his house to use the internet. Bathrooms were filthy, but only camping open this time of year.

Report Check-In

Yes, the owner and his price is friendly, the view is very beautiful, there are cute animals running around, it was treaky to get the right calle. And unfortunately yes it is dirty.
But NO, their WiFi was very brocken. We had 3 devices, only one got SLOW internet access.
Due to heavy snow-rain at 0℃ and as we failed to find a better campground at Coyhaique we ended up here a second time. Unfortunately we got explained that they run out of fire wood and it looked like they have no plans to change this.

Report Check-In

Definitely not a quiet place, and the 3 bathrooms are totally inadequate for the amount of people here, with water varying between freezing and scalding. As reported the place is not exactly clean and we decided against doing our laundry here! The atmosphere is nice though and the owners are very friendly:) Has the most dogs roaming around of any of the places we've seen... Would recommend against bringing kids here with all the tools and junk etc lying around here.

Report Check-In

Lots of space for tents. Nice environment, many backpackers and cyclists. Beautiful view to the valley bellow. Hot water, showers, kitchen, common indoor area and area for cooking. By summer 2018 should have more bathrooms and showers.

Report Check-In

Wonderful. Laundry 3000/load. Camping 4000/person. Good wifi still. On a Saturday night maybe 45 tents and multiple vehicles.

Report Check-In

Eh nice place. Sweet family and little girl. Shower was hot but dirty, not a highly maintained camp area but there are good views from the edge. Wifi was surprisingly good and we definitely felt comfortable, met some nice people. Overall a good stay (4000pp) but one of the less clean ones I've been to. See pics for signs to get there, definitely kind of hard to find.

Report Check-In

I wasn't able to find this place.

Report Check-In

Sergio is great host. laundry on site. air dry 3000 CLP. definitely small rigs. A camper on small truck barely fit.

Report Check-In

good spot
little dirty... but for a night it's good

Report Check-In

Camping Ammonites, Sergio the owner is very friendly. We love this place, simple but very special with a stunning panorama view at the mirador. The entrance is tricky. I updated the coordinates and hope for followers it's easier to find the place. Wanted 8000 CLP but was happy with 7000.

Report Check-In

Great place. Sergio is very friendly, Internet speed is ~15MBit/s, the common room with sofas features a firewood oven where we baked our own bread.

We had a bit of trouble finding it at first, though. Check out the starred location by the road, this is where the road forks off. Also check out the photos, they may help locating this traveller oasis.

Report Check-In

Amazing owners, you feel like home! We were the only campers (of course, winter time....!). Really good WiFi. 3000pesos for a laundry (11kg max). One of the best paid camping we did so far. You have a dedicated area for the campers with a kitchen (with a fridge) and a lounge with sofas, boardgames, guitar, so many stuffs. We slept in the common area, because it's was really cold outside. 3500pesos per person

to enter the camping loom for the nr.2000! little cardboard sign opposite of the station gives you an indication. Amonites is the name (cardboars sign on the right of the gravel road entrance)

BEST INTERNET of my travels in the south, REALLY FAST! Kitchen without gas stove, electricty in common indoor room. Super athmosphere. Firepit hut outside. Wast lands to plant your tent, forest grass or garden, you choose. Talkative nice host. 2bathrooms, no schedule, warm to hot water. Laundry service available.
3500chp pernight.
A private viewpoint platform to see the valley. A really nice place.
