Description

The Bush Baby Campsite is directly opposite the "RobertsCamp", which was closed due to flooding. It has just been re-created. Smaller vehicles can enter the Bush Baby Bar & Restaurant from the street. Larger vehicles (big rigs) use the entrance behind the restaurant. Toilets and restaurant / bar available. Electricity (currently still) at the bar. Drinking water from the borehole 12 km away. There is only slightly salty lake water on the camp itself. The newly laid out area offers space for several vehicles, even larger ones. The ground consists of hard sand / stone.
Luka, the owner, is very helpful. Everything is clean and tidy and attractively planted. Luka and his brother also offer boat tours on the lake. Telephone 0720322113. Price KES 500 per person.
Good SafariCom reception.

A good campsite with a nice feel. Boat trip with Alex and Augustine highly recommended. We also did a morning and evening guided bird walk with Alex who makes sure there is something special to see and is very knowledgeable.

We loved staying at Bush Baby. Well maintained, clean ablutions, field kitchen and scullery. We could hook up to electricity. Owner very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has closed but the bar served ice cold beers! We enjoyed a two hour guided boat ride and a walking bird watch. Well worth a stop over. Cold showers were fine during hot weather. One of our best formal campsites in Kenya so far.

We loved this place. Good facilities (charging point, fire, toilets, water tap, shower) very close to our 4x4 with rooftop tent. We didn’t negotiate the 1000 kes pppn, because we saw immediately this place is worth it. We did the hike at the end of the afternoon which was interesting to learn about vegetation and animals. Lovely bird songs in the early morning and the sound of bees. We walked to the small village to buy some fruits and vegetables. John explored the surroundings with a morning run. Safe place. And Luka the owner can answer all your questions.

Nice place with a very friendly owner. We can recommend.

This place has everything you need. Clean and sufficient toilets and showers, shade, opportunities to charge the batteries. Lukas, the owner, also offers cold drinks. He also organizes worthwhile boat trips and hikes with competent guides. You will be woken up by countless bird calls. The price 1000ppn is worth it. We highly recommend it.

As described. Friendly owner who gives you privacy. We did the 3 h boat tour in the morning and nature walk in the afternoon. Both highly recommended with good guides, many birds and scorpions. Nature walk provides a really nice view over the lake. You can make a good deal combining camping with activities.

Report Check-In

Spacious and well kept camp ground with trees and gras. There are very clean shower and toilet blocks, a central table under a tree and a kitchen. The reception area has a bar and serves cold drinks. The owner Lucas takes very good care of his place and everything is clean and tidy. He provides also boat trips on the lake and arranged for us breakfast and dinner nearby. Camping per person 1000 Khs, boat ride 3000 Khs per hour. Safari.com reception

As said before, just across the road from the now closed and flooded Robert’s Camp. Luca has built a very nice campsite with all the necessities. Clean ablutions, flushing toilets, cold showers (welcome in the heat), a charging point, dishwashing area, and rubbish bins. He is building some bandas but construction is stalled due to covid. He arranged a boat trip for us on the lake ($30 per hour) which was great for birds and even included the feeding of two fish eagles, trained to come at the sound of a whistle and snatch the fish thrown by captain out of the water. There is a restaurant but we didn’t try it. Spent two peaceful nights at this nice spot. Camping 800ksh pppn.

Report Check-In

Nice place with a friendly owner. Ablutions basic but clean. We recommend. 3 hours with the boat to go to an island and visit the tribe for 7500 Ksh.

Report Check-In

Nice shady campsite. Quiet. Everything you need is here. Much better than Dessert Rose.

This is a super place to camp now Roberts Camp is submerged. We were really impressed with the hard work Luka is putting in to create a new quality campsite. Everything was clean and well maintained, there are now showers and toilets for campers. We were not disturbed by the bar and restaurant in the evening. They offer activities, which we engaged with, taking a 2h nature walk in the late afternoon. In the morning we greatly enjoyed a 3h boat trip experiencing the sunrise and amazing breadth of birdlife on the lake. Definitely recommend - this site is only going to improve on the great start already made.
