Description

Nice campsite with simple ablutions about 50km north of Lusaka along T2/Great North Road
Working farm with a simple campsite and chalets at the back. Very friendly staff, electricity and light at site as well as a large communal braai and fireplace area. You can hear the highway though. Excellent butchery (try the biltong) and other farm produce for sale (milk, vegetables, eggs, cookies etc). We had the dinner buffet for 110Zk pp (9,50€) which was great value and sourced almost entirely from the farm, service was outstanding. Lunch was also good especially the meat pies. Many marabou storks along short walking path out back. Wifi at restaurant/bar and reception which was comparatively fast. Very nice Scottish manager came by every day for a chat and to give us information about things to do and see. Great place for children with large playground and loads of different farm animals. 120Zk pp (8,50€)

Latest Check-Ins

Nice campsite on grass under big trees. Good and clean ablutions. Nice and big restaurant area with WiFi. Animals of the farm are around, which is lovely. It's much bigger than we thought. A good stop north of Lusaka.

Report Check-In

The campsite is good apart from the common kitchen which is terrible. The showers are decent and clean but a lot of mosquitoes make their nests there! Large playground, a paradise for children. We wanted to eat at the restaurant but after more than an hour of waiting we left.

Report Check-In

Camp one night here. 150 ppn, children pay half price whatever their age. Grassy camp with private ablution a little bit rundown. But water is hot with pressure. Restaurant with bar and big and various games at play ground. Food and coffee is ok +. Donkey ride for children on Saturday, free ;). You can buy your meat at the butchery or d the farm. Big rigs ok to go (take care of the tree at the entrance of the camp site.

Report Check-In

Nice lodge and campground with a good restaurant (and further extensive infrastructure) attached to a big farm. 150 ZMW ppn with access to private ablutions in good shape. Very good choice for a stop-over of one or two nights in the Lusaka area.

Report Check-In

The camp ground was nice enough but a little cramped amongst the chalets that have filled the site. And the ablutions are okay but tired. It was fine for a stopover but not an extended stay.

Report Check-In

Very nice campsite with all the amenities required for a one night stay or longer. The butchery is excellent snd we could stock up. Lovely wors, biltong and droëwors. Their pies are lovely too. We went for lunch to the restaurant but had a disappointing experience. The chips and pies were cold. A very neglected plate! The Scottish manager was nowhere to be seen. Notwithstanding our lunch we enjoyed our stay!

Report Check-In

Lovely quiet camp off the main road. Can hear the main road and farm animals in the background overnight but not troublesome. 120kw pppn. Hot showers, bar and restaurant on site.

Report Check-In

Great place for a stop over. Paid K 270 for 2 people camping. Grass camp spots, clean toilets and hot water. Pub and restaurant with really good food. Right off the T2

Report Check-In

Highly recommend! all as described below.
120kpppn and just a nice place to stop off. Great shady level campsites, decent ablutions with hot water and hot taps to do dishes outside. Lots of farm animals and a great butchery, coffee shop, pie shop and best lemonade...

Andrew is hospitality 100%
What a great man.
His mind is always thinking what to innovate!
Nice camping place, nice showers, nice restaurant…
If your are planning to go here, don’t go to sophorite first please!!!!!
👏👏👏👏👏

Report Check-In

This place is awesome! Best hospitality we’ve had on our 8 month trip so far. Owner, Andrew, is great. We had dinner together and he showed us the storks and vultures. The dinner was yum and everything seems very fairly priced. We took ourselves for a small farm tour to the pigs and orphaned baby goats (very cute). Well worth a stop in for some Zambian hospitality! We will definitely stop in again on our way South again. 10/10

Report Check-In

Best food we ate in Zambia! Such a beautiful garden, stay was peaceful. We were taken to see the vulture project where there are sooooo many maraboes as well! My dog travelled with and enjoyed seeing all the farm animals.

Report Check-In

Agree with all the reviews: very nice place the staff, friendly staff, great place to relax after a long drive.

Report Check-In

Good for a stop on the route, with nice restaurant. don't miss a walk to the marabous, we saw maybe 200!! just follow the path past the campsite.

Report Check-In

Very nice farm and campsite. Campsite are large, ablutions really clean and very good hot shower. You can buy meat directly at the butchery, cheap and really good pièces of beef, pork, biltong. They also have a nice little grocery where you Can find marmelade, milk, yoghourt....good prices. You Can hear the main road but was OK. Wifi free and average signalat reception and restaurant.

Report Check-In

Lovely campsite. Because there were many people camping , they opened a chalet for us to use toilet and shower. Shower was great and warm. Food in restaurant was very good as well. Friendly staff and owner.

Report Check-In

Still the best campsite North of Lusaka. Value for money at only K120 per person. Green lawns and hot showers. Best butchery and pies.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite on farm. Start raining due to siclone ANA moving from Mozambique over Malawi

Report Check-In

Friendly staff. 120 ZMK pppn. Grassy area under waterberry trees. On the campsite are also little huts. We were rather unlucky as there was a group of ten young women making quite a noise.
Shower not working properly.
The curio shop seems to be absolutely overprized - bought one item for 250 ZMK which we got at the Fig Tree Cafe for 100 ZMK.
We would probably not stay there any more, only if we really had to.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite. Agree with aforementioned reviews regarding road traffic noise. Campsite is flat and secluded in back of compound.
Had issues with the hot water in the shared camp showers not working so the security guard opened up one of the chalets and we managed a very nice shower. (Hot water and amazing pressure.)
Price is 120kw pp. Due to COVID, restaurant is take away only. We got decent pizza.
On site butchery is a great place to stock up on meats. Demand is high for biltong and they were sold out during our visit.

Report Check-In

We were a little disappointed. The campsite is as described... nice grass, good shade and clean ablutions. Unfortunately, it was a little untidy. There was rubbish on the ground in places and the bins were overflowing. The showers were cold. Also beware that it is near a busy road and the sound of traffic is relentless.

Report Check-In

Ablutions a bit rundown but still a nice stopover if you don’t mind staying at a working meat farm with cows just meters away from the campsite, a piggery and butchery nearby. Lovely resident cats.

Report Check-In

Camping is now 120 kw ppn . Unfortunately, due to the increased truck traffic on the Great North Road, this place has become quite noisy at night (since our first stay in 2018), in addition, there is a generator for a refrigerated container that runs all night close to the campsite. The donkey boiler did not work very well, although we stayed for 4 nights, we barely caught a moment of hot water. Food (pies, meat) is still excellent, though, and wifi works fine at the restaurant and at the reception.

Report Check-In

Super plan and Super restaurant.
Super

Report Check-In

Little old but clean, worth the money 100kppn, several spots with high trees good shade for big rig don't miss the pies from the shop. If you have time take a walk to see the vuolture feeding point it is about 800 m and you can watch hundreds of vuoltures and Marabus. WiFi available just next to the reception.d

Report Check-In

Lovely green grass to set up your camp. Electricity to plug your camper in. Clean bathrooms. We are happy campers to stay over at K100 pppn great value for your money.

Report Check-In

Last visitor reported this campground to be the worst they visited in Zambia. We do not agree at all. Staff was very friendly. Beautiful private new ablution. Grassy areas. Well maintained. Canopies/lapas at your disposal. Good WiFi. Price 100 ZKw pppn. Absolutely nothing wrong with this campground.

Report Check-In

Staff at reception not so friendly. Securetygards at very friendly. You can buy firewood by them. Ablutions are basic. One of the worst camping we have been to in Zambia.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Friendly reception as always. They just gave the campsite a make-over: fresh paint on the buildings and new showers and toilets. It was already nice but even better now. Great and comfortable place!

Report Check-In

Excellent hosts, good food & clean abolutions at a fair price. Hope to be back!

Report Check-In

Really charming place. Had a delightful evening here in the campsite. One can walk about and see the farm animals and then have a delicious meal in the restaurant - a hearty buffet. Paid 145 for meal and 100 to pitch my tent. Can't recommend this place enough, beautiful!

Report Check-In

Nice campsite on the farm, a short walk from bar and restaurant. Very nice food, including the pies and at very good prices. We stayed two nights in total and paid 100zk pppn. Had power and lights, clean ablutions only grumble is that hot water was not consistent.

Report Check-In

A lot is same as previous reports. The clinic on the farm is open till 21h00 at night if you need some medical attention. Very cheap medicine.

Report Check-In

Nothing to add, nice place, good restaurant, payed 100 Kwacha pp

Report Check-In

Excellent and well maintained facility with camping and chalet options. We decided to spoil ourselves and took a chalet with 2 beds at 400 ZMW for the chalet. Basic but very clean. The facility is well maintained with a Post office, Butchery, Church, etc. We had a 3-course buffet dinner at 130 ZMW per person. Drinks is also cheap as it is happy hour between 18:00 and 20:00. WIFI is available at Reception and speed is good – our chalet was next to reception so we had good signal in the room as well. Strongly recommended to stay when looking for accommodation just outside the city.

Report Check-In

Stopped for lunch en route to Lusaka.
Very nice garden setting, food was good (particularly the pie). 2 lunches with drinks and ice creams cost 110kw.

Report Check-In

Great place just outside of Lusaka. A well run farm and lodge with a beautiful campsite, and biltong!!!

Report Check-In

Not much to add to previous comments. We paid 100 ZKW pppn and 125 ZKW pp for the excellent dinner buffet. Ablutions are clean and water is hot. Lots of birds around (besides the chickens, turkeys and marabous). Lots of noise from the road and some music.

Report Check-In

beautiful place. their food is delicious and reasonably priced (try the pies) and the staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful

Report Check-In

Campsite as written below, about 300m from reception via a very muddy way in rainy season, WIFI only in restaurant and reception. Dinner buffet is now125zkw. Per Person and night 100zkw, children half price ( to expensive with 4 children)
