Description

I really love this spot, just the area in general. There are few more spots I saw in the area, can’t go wrong with any of them. The area is very calm and quiet which is super pleasant. The topography is nice here, there are not many cactuses for my pups to step on which was really nice. More bushes as opposed to cactuses, but some saguaros around and mountains surrounding. I had good T-Mobile service in this exact spot, which is part of the reason I camped here. I made a little fire ring as there wasn’t one here. Enjoy :)

Great area! We stopped just for an overnight stay, but seems like a pretty popular area. It took a little bit for us to find a spot where we could fit our 40ft skoolie, as most of them had already been taken, but the farther down you go the more spots there are available. And super surprised at how great our Verizon signal our here is!

Great flat area with lots of room for several rigs. We picked out a nice level area behind the entrance sign with an established fire ring. The area appears "raised" so no issues with flooding if it was raining. Flowers were just beginning to bloom. The views were awesome and it was nice & quiet at night. You could just make out the interstate in the distance. Easy overnight for us in a 39' class A towing - no need to unhook. Would definitely return.

Totally dope spot! Really good t-mobile reception. Some shotgun shells on ground 😟 but tons of space out here. Good balance of easy terrain and more moderate/big stuff.

I stayed at a site just past the left side of the fork in the road. Nice area, quiet, and plenty of sites to choose from.

Very nice area. A few segura cactus but not many to view. Great view of surrounding mountain ranges. Just a couple others out for the day.

Beautiful spot near the mountains and surrounded by cacti! Bit of a bumpy ride in no issues with 22 ft Skoolie. Very quiet and three other travellers visiting with us! @_twenty_four_carrat

Lots of spots along this stretch of road. We stopped about 1/2 mile in on the left and it was quiet except for the occasional vehicle going by on the road and a bit of highway noise. Nice spot for a quick overnight.

Solitude, mostly clean, AND 5G service? This place is fantastic! We've stayed here multiple times. There's plenty of room and there are spots accessible to all types of rigs. The road gets less accessible as you drive south, so RVs tend to be near the highway and there's more space and privacy for more rugged vehicles down the road. Most well-used spur roads are marked with metal stakes so you know where to turn off for a campsite. Some spots are right next to the road and others are several hundred feet away. There's some highway and occasional airplane noise, and shooting is allowed here, but it's been quiet when we've stayed. We spoke with a BLM ranger who said that human trafficking in this area has died down a lot over the years due to regular patrols. We've never seen anyone, but I doubt they'd want to draw attention to themselves. We've always enjoyed our stay, and our pets enjoy the fact that this area is mostly free of stickers and tiny cacti. Coyotes abound, so be careful of your pets!

Stayed for 4d/5n.
Great spots all over the place, we stayed down the road towards Vekol (Ghost) Ranch. Fire ring, good ATT, Verizon service, a bit of shrubbery around but not too much shade at our spot specifically. Road to Vekol Ranch was a bit too steep at the two washes, so we didn't drive our 2wd van over there, but it's a great bike ride all the way up to Lava Flow Trailhead. We couldn't find a discernable trail so we didn't hike it, but if you can (with enough water) it'll take you to the trail up the mountain!
Thanks to all previous folks for the helpful reviews.

Confirming what others have said…quiet spots near the road on BLM land. I-8 exit 144…south on good gravel.

nice place, much better than Saddle Mountain. Not as many people, Border Patrol goes by once in awhile. internet is fast enough where I can stream NFL games using FuboTv.

Report Check-In

Very quiet except for the road noise from my I-8 and the occasional jet. Vast area. I only saw two other rigs the day I was there. There was some refuse in the parking area close to the interstate.

Report Check-In

Nice quiet (except for the military planes) spot with easy access for our 24 ft C Class. Clean too. The road beyond this point calls for clearance and 4wd so we didn't try it. Full ATT service here.

This particular location offers many flat, open camping sites. Easy access for 2WD but decent clearance will help. Four bars of Verizon 5G.

Although there are a few Saguaro, and willows and Palo Verde in the washes, creosote shrubs are the prominent flora. A few barrel cactus and no cholla at this location -- so good terrain for dogs. Nice hills in the distance although not dramatic.

Fighter jets fly underhead during the days. Distant sound of the interstate. A dirt road a few hundred yards away and campers scattered throughout this broad valley. I got here mid week and there was no one around. By Saturday morning there were several campers a few hundred yards away and ATVs on the roads.

This location is exposed and would be unbearable from April through October, depending. But pleasant in February.

I appreciate that folks like having campfires but over the last few years we've seen a lot of wildfire devastation in the west. Please be careful. There are at least three fire rings in the immediate vicinity.

There is no glass or rubbish anywhere at this site, except for a little garbage left in a fire ring. Take it with you.

Lots of good camping spots down this road. Hiking from camp off trail is nice. Mountain biking dirt roads also. Enjoy
