Description

Lovely spot right next to river. Very close to road but surprisingly secluded. Fire ring.

Technically within NP boundaries.
There is a sign on the road about a mile before saying 'no roadside camping'. No signage at the actual site, but I didn't camp here.

nice spot, right of the road, but not much noise even during the day. clean, large enough for a van. right of the river.

Wonderful spot just downstream of the bridge. Agree with previous comment: backing in is the way to go. Our truck camper fit perfectly. Super quiet overnight with the sound of the rushing water. There's a tiny trail down to the water where you can sit and watch the river (separate from the kayak/boat put-in). Perfect!

This is more than a spot... it’s an experience!

Agreed about the seclusion from the road, it’s slightly downhill with ferns and good cover for privacy. No cars passed after 8, slept soundly to the river!

Came in on S Shore drive. The gravel portion may have been better in the past; now it is fairly washboarded with potholes. In the afternoon, the light on the trees made it difficult to dodge potholes and sections of bad washboard. Drove out over the bridge (gorgeous views from the bridge at sunset on the mountains!), hanging a left onto N Shore Drive. N Shore Drive is paved at first on the way back, but turns to gravel. Gravel winds up and down some beautiful old growth maple groves covered in moss! Gravel on this side was very smooth and well maintained.

The site was fairly clean, found some used TP behind the mossy vine maple.

Wouldn’t recommend for larger rigs. 24 feet was pushing it. Smaller vans would be invisible from the road. Should have backed in, had to back out when we left (no room to turn around).

Having a nice mossy rock to grill on was a big plus :)

We had a great stay. It felt pretty secluded since there are trees between the spot and the road. It was very quiet throughout the night. It is a little buggy since it is right on the river. It looks like a fishing spot. There was a sign related to fishing and no mention of overnight camping being prohibited. The spot could potentially be muddy. We had no problem getting in or out in a 19-foot van. No Verizon service was available.
