Road closed. Can’t get to it. Seems like everything in this area is closed for winter

Report Check-In

Diverted to here after Schneblly Hill spot was closed off due to road closure. Paved main road. But had to find a dry spot bc of rain from nights before. Most spots were ankle deep in mud but we managed to find a good spot. I’d say don’t come if it rained especially without a 4x4 capable vehicle . Great spot spent one night .

this site is not closed. great site for all sizes of rigs. alot of ATV noise and dust.

Report Check-In

Great area with lots of dispersed camp sites. Most with fire rings.
First road to the left (after off pavement and past the refuge station) goes to a good size pond.
Or take the dirt road way back past the open meadow and cow pond (another one) to find many remote spots.

FS Rd 253 off of I-17. FS Rd 253 loops north and back around to the Newman Park Rd exit of I-17. Labor Day weekend, it's crowded but nobody closer than 200 ft. Still open spots. Tall Ponderosa Pines and a few large Oak. Plenty of firewood on the ground. Dog friendly. Great 5G T-Mobile internet. sunny spots and shady spots. A little trash, but not too bad. Road's a little rough. watch my you tube. Rolling Man Cave. A few dune buggies and ATV's.

Been a great time, some windy days, and the roads are rocky but good internet,Verizon, and good TV reception

Tried to stay here in February and road is now gated off with a road closed sign 😔

Report Check-In

As others said, this is a good spot. Wide open spaces, no one is on top of each other and you can barely hear anyone else.

Access is good, road is a bit broken, but it's old packed gravel so coming in with bad weather should allow good traction. One word of advise on something that happened to us: at the very beginning, just past the cell tower, there is a big clearing with fresh gravel and mountains of gravel to the side. We arrived late and with an ice storm, so visibility was bad. Beware there is a big hole in the middle of this wide open area, like a compact car size hole, and it does not have much of anything marking it properly. To the side of this hole, there is a narrow "lane" formed. We drove on that as if we were going out and our trailer caught a massive pothole on the passenger side. It's more of a washout broken by water, and it's deep and sharp. We bent a rim and spent the night in that clearing, then fixed everything in the AM. So be very careful coming in and out at night, use high beams and go as slow as you can go.

Regarding internet, Verizon/Visible full bars, 80ms ping on open signal and between 20 and 30 mbps up/down. Amazing for remote work, and reception continues for quite some distance on the road, past the last animal gate.

Great spot with plenty of room to find a place to set up. FS road 253 goes on for about 8 miles or so with plenty of spots along the road. Take an off shoot road and find even more cool spots. Smaller set ups can get further into the woods, but there are plenty of spots for full sized Class A's and full sized busses. No water or dump stations so you need to be self contained, but this is a free area. Only 15 miles south of Flagstaff off of I-17. There are tarantulas and other critters in the area, but nothing too crazy. Verizon signal is 5 bars where we are set up. There are some places throughout the area with zero, so make sure to check before you set up if you need it.

Report Check-In

Road was closed just past transfer station.

Report Check-In

Looked mostly closed off - may have a few open spots but at first glance it wasn’t a viable campsite.

Report Check-In

Road is closed by gate. Not sure the rhyme or reason but big waste of time

What a great stay. Really nice open space. I was the only one here and my dog had tons of space to run around. Arrived after dark and wish I hadn’t, some ruts in road, but totally doable with 2wd and lowish clearance, just easier in daylight!
