Something not right?

Description

Free spacious camping sites for tents, vans or smaller RVs. Very clean and everyone there was quiet and respectful. Supervisor is very friendly and does a nice job with the place, cleaning it almost daily (make his job easier & pack out your trash!!)

Close to Buena Vista, but feels like you're far out in nature. Beware of small fuzzy and spikey cactus scattered around (especially with kids). Fairly near the river with hiking trails and lots of bolders nearby to climb. Good Verizon 4G service, spotty AT&T. 14 day limit, first come, first serve.

There were a lot of ATVs driving around near the campground on the weekend, but they stopped at dark, so it was not annoying or bothersome.

NOTE: Sometime in 2024, this campsite will come with a fee, as said by the supervisor.

Latest Check-Ins

Note: campground host said this site will be a few site next year :-(
Perched atop the foothills with views of collegiate peaks. Great sunrise/sunset here. Sites are closer together so if you have good neighbors it’s awesome, otherwise you can pretty much hear everything. Great option just outside of BV tho

Stayed here ten days. Camp host Don is amazing. Pit toilets super clean. Great service with Verizon. Close to BV. Site 12 is the most amazing view but very windy fyi
Also stayed in site 5 which was huge and had trees for some shade

Just as everyone else has said below, feee BLM campground. Came in a Monday around 6pm and four sites were empty. Close to downtown BV so definitely popular.

Beautiful campground. The supervisor is awesome, and he keeps it very clean. Spacious lots, for tents and big rigs alike. First come, first served. Pit toilets are available. I would stay a whole week if I could.

The supervisor told my partner and I that next year the site will come at a fee. Not sure what, or when, but be wary. In any case, this campsite is worth a stay.

Great spot to stay for the night, was going to the boondocking sites past the campground and saw this, didn’t know it was free!! Pretty full but we found a spot and it was great! Good cell service.

Report Check-In

Nice campground considering it's free. Cellphone service is very good on AT&T, Visible and Mint (there's a cell tower right across the river). This campground is accessed via a dirt road, but it's not bad; just watch for some sand on the shoulders. There doesn't seem to be any water or dump station.

Report Check-In

Nice little camp area. The sites are small and close together. New vault toilets. Great star viewing. Handy for the area. The road is noisy during the day. Not for large RVs.
