This is an informal tent camping spot on top of Unaka Mountain. Access here to the Appalachian Trail. A good bit of traffic as far as people goes and of course cars to drive about 2 ish miles "up" a gravel rd. Im in a Promaster and I made it no problem and it was wet and a little rain on the way up. 4-5Mbps download and about 1.5up so Verizon signal is really good considering. There is a turn around when you get to the top but only 1 or 2 level spots. One under some trees and one on the far side of the turn around. I arrived at night and it was foggy so I couldn't see anything. Stayed one night. Nothing here but a gravel road so bring what you need and take what you use.... leave no trace.

Empty lot 2 hrs before sunset. 200 yards to App Trail and hill crest. Numerous cars came for sunset then left. No other campers. Room for half dozen, plus nice tent spots at hill crest. Saw no hikers, just peaceful sunsetters. Verizon intermittent. Gorgeous!
Report Check-InSeriously the most beautiful spot I’ve ever seen. Right off the AT trail so you’ll meet a lot of thru hikers. Gravel dirt road the whole way up, with a circle parking lot at the end to drive up to. Lots of camping down every road on the way up. It’s literally a mountain, so be sure to check the weather and temperatures as it gets significantly cooler up here and it’ll rain and not show up on any radar. It’s also very windy so come prepared and bring treats for the AT hikers.
Report Check-InCool spot. Not too many people but I came after it rained. Camped on top of the mountain (200yd walk). Very humid in the morning. 0-3 bars and good LTE (depending where you’re standing) on Tmobile. Lots of potholes on the way up but be careful and you’ll have no problem in any vehicle.
Report Check-InBeautiful sunset and view in the morning. Arrived 30 min before sunset and 6-8 vehicles parked in area, all teenagers going to top to watch sunset. Cleared out shortly after sunset with a couple visitors till 10 then all quiet. Spotty straight talk data with booster.
Report Check-InCamped in our van at the parking area. As we were driving up in the waning evening light, we met about a dozen cars coming down. It seems to be a favorite place to make-out....a beautiful sunset. After parking we went to the top of the hill and saw 5 Appalacian Trail campers. Had a wonderful visiting with them.
Report Check-InThe other description is accurate. There was lots of traffic and many loud vehicles. We didn’t sleep well at all. Spectacular view and easy access to the Appalachian Trail. We wanted to stay a couple of nights, but will move on to someplace quieter.
