Place is closed. It is an active road maintenance gravel depot with trucks and freaking helicopters landing. Photos uploaded. Please camp somewhere that is not a worksite. Road maintenance happens all year and they need room to work, including safe areas to land helicopters which are used to ferry supplies in and out.

Report Check-InHelicopters use this space to drop off hikers, so it’s best to park along the edges! Perfect spot after a day hiking grizzly lake
Report Check-InThey seem to tolerate people using this spot even if they will officially say no camping outside of designated camping areas in the park. spent 2 nights there along 5 other vans, no issue. There are fire pits but I wouldn't use, be respectful to they keep tolerating!
Report Check-InLarge open gravel pit next to the river. There’s easily room for 5 vehicles along the river and plenty more in the rest of the lot (there were 5 campers the night we visited). Only one fire pit, but plenty of spots with nice views over the river and of surrounding mountains.
You’re right beside the road, but there’s almost no traffic overnight. No grassy spots for tents, but probably doable if you’ve got a good ground sheet.
