Dirt lot next to visitors center. Shade with full Verizon. Next to active train tracks. Spent one night in van and moved along!

Stayed here from 11:30-7 ; had no issues whatsoever. Train did wake me up though
Report Check-InTwo trains in the middle of the night one early evening and one early am. Walking distance to hawksbill brewery. Keep in mind most restaurants close early in the evenings in Luray. Got delivery from a pizza place to the brewery. Parked on the gravel side.
Report Check-InMy first car camping experience and it was perfectly fine. The train passed twice but I found it peaceful not annoying. No one bothered me at all in fact I didn’t see a soul. Next time I’ll come earlier and enjoy the breweries within a block away. Around the corner is a great coffee shop for breakfast
Report Check-InNice level gravel parking lot. Close to downtown. Not much open on a Tuesday evening though. After reading the comments we hold the record with 5 trains and all of them while we were sleeping! Otherwise very quiet. No other campers parked and not a single car came in the lot while we were here.
Report Check-InGood, flat spot, safe with lights, but darn it’s noisy! Traffic all night and the train went by twice. The do horn here.
I would not stay again.
Stayed here one night, got in late and left early. We didn't hear any trains pass this night. Good spot for one night while traveling through Shenandoah NP
Report Check-InSafe spot at a historical train depot in a historical town right up against an active rail line. Had 3 trains go by throughout the night but no big deal. It was fun being able to walk to town from this location. Bonus - Brewery 2 blocks away!
Report Check-InAs described. We had 2 trains pass in the night but it was no big deal. About a 15 minute drive to access Shenandoah national park via the Thornton Gap Entrance
Report Check-InThis is actually a nice place in the center of Luray. The town seems pretty decent and we didn't experience any problems. The gravel parking lot is to the right of the Luray Visitor center which is the old train station in the center of town. The train line active and actually pretty cool. Norfolk Southern hauling about 100 cars of truck containers of goods, a few box cars, some coal, some oil, and lumber. (There's nothing wrong with trains hauling the cargo that keeps America rolling...) There are some restaurants and a convenience store within walking distance. This is a fine spot to boondock for one night and then continue on your journey.
Report Check-InThis was as others described - a gravel lot by the Luray Visitors Center & truly right next to train tracks. Only 1 train came through while I stayed which to me wasn’t bad at all. I’d stay here again - it felt safe & has great access to Shenandoah NP
Report Check-InIt’s directly in front of train tracks so don’t expect to get a good night sleep. There’s a row of houses directly across the street. Good for a night but that’s it
