Nice little campground right on the highway to/from Yellowstone. Currently $7/night, possibly going to $10 in the future (sign on the board). About 20min to the north Yellowstone entrance and town of Gardiner.
About 15 marked spots, some are huge and can fit several vehicles, some just a single vehicle. All legit sites have a picnic table and metal fire ring with grill. Most have trees for shade, most also have giant rocks for additional shade or whatever you'd like to use them for.
Several vault toilets throughout that are kept pretty clean. No water, so make sure you have some.
There are a few unmarked spots that seem like they should be a site, but have no post. Spot 11 is either massive or a combination of site plus a pull through road.
We rolled in on a Saturday around 3pm, 2 spots left (now full as of 4pm).
No cell service for AT&T.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Camped in spot #5 three nights. Arrived around noon for the first come first serve spot. Ten bucks a night.
Big Horn Sheep come down from the mountain into campground in the evening.
Vehicles would start pulling in every day starting around 3:00 looking for spots, arrive early…
Report Check-InNice first come first serve campground with huge rocks and private sites. Highway is next to CG but during night it’s quiet. Cars passing by starting at 7am. Would recommend to use ear plugs. 10USD, but you get 50% off with several passes. Clearly defined at self-registration.
Report Check-InOne of the coolest camp sites I’ve stayed at. At the base of a rocky mountain with lots of large boulders and scattered evergreen trees. There are 2 pit toilets but only one was open. One or two other campers, but the Yellowstone entrance was closed so it could be quite busy normally when open.
Report Check-InStopped to check this site out. Awesome rocks and plenty of sites. Need $10 in cash to pay per night. Very cool spot!
Report Check-InPulled in after dark. Looked like the road had been plowed, but a few days ago. I didn’t want to explore too much and get stuck with my low clearance van, so I parked it in the main entrance area. Looked empty, except one truck left early the morning. It’s still $7. Convenient place to stay before heading into Yellowstone. Pit toilets were clean and open. Looks like it’s a year round campground. Self-pay station. No Verizon service. Comfortable night!
