This place is now closed to campers. Decided to focus on long term rentals once pandemic hit. No longer an Overlander option.

Report Check-In

They have recently built a cabaña on the camping area; not sure how it was before, but now there isn’t much level space to park. We decided to look further.

Report Check-In

Everything are ok, it’s a little paradise . Nathan the owner is very very friendly. We stayed 2 nights. Overlandermen and women you must come here. The landscape is nicely and the small city only at 20´walking. Laïla Lucien

Report Check-In

Highly recommended. Clean (composting) toilet; hot shower; decent wifi; clean communal kitchen; peaceful, scenic setting. 15-minute walk to Vilcabamba center. We enjoyed our brief stay here, found owners Nathan and Beatrice to be very friendly and accommodating. Vehicles over 7 mtrs in length may have difficulty, however, especially if other rigs are there already.

Report Check-In

Nice and helpful owners. All the facilities as described by others. Probably the best place around Vilcabamba.

Report Check-In

great place. owner is very accommodating. the best HOT shower we've had in a while.

Report Check-In

Owner guy is a bit uptight which gives a weird vibe to the place. While showing us the composting toilet he reprimanded another woman who was staying there for leaving a cup of water next to it... saying “hey! Is this yours? for real, you don’t need to use water with this toilet” he also reprimanded my boyfriend in a very patronizing manor for smoking too close to the “long term renters’” cabin, saying “we talked about this yesterday”. Rather than just asking him not to smoke in that moment... I posted a picture of the sign on the sauna which really demonstrates the unwelcoming attitude here.

Report Check-In

This is exactly as described. The area is clean, secure, with good bathrooms, great hot showers, communal kitchen space, WiFi and very friendly people. It had plenty of room for overland trucks. Highly recommend! $5 pp,

Report Check-In

Great showers, fast WiFi, good living area. It's kind of an awkward share of the kitchen space with the non campers who live there but a nice place overall.

Report Check-In

The place is like described: Hot showers, fast WIFI and a nice, shaded sitting area with hammocks and a fully equipped kitchen. We liked it here

Report Check-In

Great facilities. HOT showers, everything is sparkling clean. Internet works well, even in parking/camping area.

Nice view of the mountains and down into town. 10 min walk to town, or back up the highway to the Saturday brewery/BBQ. :)

Parking area isn't huge, but will fit 3-5 reasonably sized vehicles.

Potable water, lots of plugins.

Pay for 5 nights, get the next two free.

$10 for two people and one rig.

Report Check-In

4runner w. rtt. As described a lovely spot with space for a couple of vehicles on level ground. Good facilities, clean and tidy. Can use kitchen. Plenty of hot water. WiFi was intermittent.

We were travelling two up on our bike and intended on staying here for only one night..... 4 nights later we finally moved on. We followed the directions given previously and found the Black Gate on the left about 50 mtrs from the Hotel/Spa. The gate does not have a name on it but is on the left about 5 mtrs past a turnoff to the right; we simply opened it up and rode up the driveway until the top. We were met by Mohan and Nina and they were wonderful and showed us around. The area has everything required with hot showers, fully equipped kitchen, composting toilets etc........ the whole area was extremely clean and had eveything we needed. A big rig may have some difficulty getting up the drive as its a bit narrow..... but no problems with a car......... all up, great people, nice area and quiet.

This is the best shower we had in all Ecuador. We could use the kitchen and the covered seating area to. It’s a nice place to hang out and recharge your batteries. Super fast WIFI and lots of electricity connections to plug in. We payed 10$ for one night.

Report Check-In

we stayed for 3 nights-very nice people-very clean facilities-our friendly (big) dog was absolutely welcomed

Report Check-In

No sign on gate but gps gate coordinates are good. From road head up towards White House. Clean 'dry bathroom. Undergoing a bit of construction for new casitas but room for 3-4 van lengths and maybe 1-2 bigger rigs. Handy wash sink with multiple clothes lines. A guest drove mover and damaged electrical adapter but Nathan figured out a solution. Handy kitchen. $5/pp per night. Good value. Out of propane so no hot water -temporary.

After a 7h drive just to get here I am completely dissapointed as they are NOT pet friendly (whereas the description said it was. Im changing this setting now). Tried to call and whatsapp beforehand with no succes. The guy I talked to when I arrived was totally rude and just showed me the door when he saw my dog. Got here at 6pm, now off to look for another place to camp and set my tent in the darkness. Not recommended.

Report Check-In

Very comfortable place with nice clean common areas and kitchen. Hot showers, compost toilets. A few min walk from town.

Report Check-In

Very beautiful and relaxing place. Hot showers, a fully equipped kitchen and wifi. The owner is going to be leveling the parking area in the next few weeks, so maybe call or email ahead. Easy walk into town.

Report Check-In

Comfortable campground with views of Vilcabamba and te surrounding volcanos. The site is a grassy hilltop lot. Nathan, the owner is very nice and helpful, speaks English, Spanish and French.

Outlets for power (110V), a covered area, composting toilet and area to wash and dry clothes. There is a small kitchen, but if someone's renting the upstairs apartment, you'll want to check with them about using it.

The showers are hot and high pressured! :-) The wifi signal is pretty good near the main house, ok by the covered area. 15-20 minute all into town. Overall, a great spot to stay.

Un bien bel endroit qui domine la ville
Douches toilettes et cuisine impeccable ... qualité suisse ! Et en plus on peut remplir sa bouteille de gaz

Report Check-In

Splendide lieu avec une superbe vue. Tranquillité et bel accueil. On peut faire le plein de gaz façon artisanale. Voir photo.

Report Check-In

Bel endroit et confortable.
Propriétaires sympathiques parlant français.

Report Check-In

Amazing, beautiful, location. Still $5 pp pn. Can eat, buy huge wholemeal loaves & get massages at the Madre Terre Hotel nextdoor, owned by Nathan's brother. These are the coordinates for the access gate

Report Check-In

Site with great view and nice, well built facilities. Friendly, helpful Swiss owner. Large kitchen, 110V, wifi, laundry washing facilities. USD 10 (2 adults, camper). We could refill our gas cylinder here using a high pressure valve and cylinder from the owner. Look at the Facebook group "Cooking Gas Around the World" for more info about gas standards and refilling methods.

Report Check-In

Friendly place and very well equipped with great facilities. In a nice location but a serious 20-30 min walk into the village in the heat. Level space for truck parking is a bit limited and there is a lot of garden waste/construction materials around, which spoils the look of the place. Very poor wifi, totally unreliable.

Report Check-In

We just stayed one night, but we ll love to stay more time there. Quiet, great view, no noise at night, you just have to relax! All the facilities are really clean and brand new. The wifi is correct. Nice kitchen with all you need. It was I think one of my best shower in South America, ht and pressure. The Black gate is like 30-40m after the hotel spa. This is the first black gate on your left. I really recommend

Report Check-In

Casita Torre del Agua is definitively a place to relax, plenty of space, quiet and perfect infrastructure. Nathan the owner has plenty of construction ideas, so it will become certainly even more attractiv in the future (more level spaces, new firepit, access to river, shady trees...)

Report Check-In

This place is one of those rare refuges you need as an overlander from time to time. We wouldn't be surprised to see this becoming an overlander meeting point in the future. Nathan, the owner, is a great and caring host. The facilities are superb, his simple-but-great composting toilet would also be a fantastic alternative to many other places that lack reliable fresh-water or waste-water services. And if there's any smell to it then that would be of wood chips! Nathan had plenty of restaurant tips for the amazing Vilcabamba gastronomic scene. We stayed 7 nights at this totally relaxing place with fine views of the valley. USD 10 per night for 2 people. Thanks for having us! P.S. The GPS coordinates are correct now.
