Large, open campsite with fire circle just off a forest road in the Tuskegee National Forest. This site is just down the road from another large campsite and by the number of shotgun shells on the ground they look like popular places to target practice during the day. But we were alone at the site and it was quiet throughout the night. You can hear the interstate traffic in the distance, however. The entry point into the campsite is an uneven hump in the ground that requires some clearance but nothing extreme.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Tried campsite #6 first, but it was closed. Took the road to this site instead hoping for better. The roads were so poorly maintained if you could call them maintained at all. Rubbish everywhere, huge pits - not potholes, and brush encroaching on all sides. Eventually we made it to the site in our shuttle bus, though, and the entrance was so eroded, that any vehicle bigger than an ATV (or possibly a Landrover) would struggle to clear it. Very disappointing, because the campsite itself looked open, clear, and relatively clean. Wouldn't recommend this area or any of its sites to potential campers or nomads.
Report Check-InLarge circle for several vans or a few campers. I came over here because site #8 has fire ants. That one is probably the best for solar, but if you park at this one on the right side right by the entrance you will still get really good sun. I have 400 watts still getting about 300. Not visible from the road, great news for us who like to shower. A few fire rings here too. 4 bars Verizon 4g cell signal
