Again we spend a big part of our Mexican winter at Chuparosa RV park and again it was a wonderful time. Chuparosa Gardens RV park is a beautiful campground with a refreshing pool, big palapa with full kitchen to meet other travellers but the RV. sites are big enough so you have your private spot. Chuparosa is on walking distance from 2 beaches, Playa San Agustin, beautiful for snorkelling and Playa coyote a wild, deserted beach. Chuparosa Gardens is a perfect spot for birdwatching, you see colourful birds everywhere. The owners, John and Hannele are very welcoming, warm people. They will always try to help, they have a lot of knowledge about the area. They are the heart of the campground, together with the lovely dogs Quetzal and Mona. I almost forget to mention the hot showers. It’s a perfect place to spend your winter.

Report Check-In

As described, nice place, welcoming hosts, unfortunately you can’t fill your RV watertanks (at the moment???), because the whole village has to get its water from somewhere else. The 10 km long sandy road down is very bumpy in places. Stayed 4 nights and would stay again.

Report Check-In

Amazing place!! Lovely owners! The palapa with the common kitchen is just perfect! Also having the refreshing pool was nice! We love staying here! Thanks a lot for making this little paradise

Report Check-In

Wow what a place. So friendly owners so cute dogs. A place for holidays. The Palapa with kitchen is great... The pool so refreshing. Thanks!!

Report Check-In

I highly recommend staying here! Hot showers, drinking water, clean bathrooms, and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen. There is a great pool as well. The hosts are Canadian and are very very accommodating. They were going to the next town and actually brought us back some groceries we needed. There is beer, wine and coffee you can buy on site. Sometimes a fruit truck or cheese truck will show up to the park as well. There is laundry available for use. The beaches surrounding the park are really nice with snorkelling. Don’t miss this stop!

Report Check-In

I don't think there are more superlatives to add to this place. It is a fantastic campground with everything you need for your perfect stay. There are showers with hot water, a pool, a kitchen, a BBQ and, of course, a beautiful ocean only a step away and terrific hosts. If you are an archeology enthusiast - ask John about the artifacts he found :)

Report Check-In

It is in a remote location in St Augustine where you have to navigate 12 km of tope filled dirt Road that is very bumpy to get there. Small town with only local shops and limited selection, however, there are many restaurants.
Nowhere on the website does it say you cannot use air-conditioning. To the contrary, it touts it’s solar grid and the fact that it has 30 amp service. So it is only when you finally get to this very remote and very hot destination in 95° wherein are you told repeatedly not to use your air-conditioning. Unfortunately, it didn’t stop there. Then I was told I couldn’t use my own solar system because it wouldn’t be fair to the others to see that I had air-conditioning running, and also because I would have to use a little of their power to help my solar recharge my DC batteries. I also have a Bluetti 2000 standalone battery, but was told not to charge that either because the charging of that was inefficient. Just seemed like the rules were getting made as we went along. I was also told not to hop into the pool anymore because it created a small splash onto the bordering cement and they wanted to conserve water. I am not joking when I tell you that the sum total of the splashed water was probably around 3 to 4 tablespoons and the water that drips off of your bathing suit, when you get out of the pool is probably 10 times that amount. I swear I am not making this up.
I was told to leave my windows open during the afternoon and put a fan on my face. When I told the owner, it was still 91° inside of my RV he nodded with the look of success. I understand that that is a livable situation but I worked too hard to get to this point in my life to pay a place 350 per night to have to live without air-conditioning that I can use from my own solar power.
On the plus side, they had amazing bathrooms and the owners and people there are fantastic.
They also have a one of the best common area Palapas with full kitchen, as well as a clean, fiberglass pool.

Report Check-In

Two great camping options in Bahia San Agustin. Don Taco is right on the beach! Chuparosa has a pool and is a short walk to the beach. I chose Chuparosa and stayed three weeks.

Such great hospitality from owners John and Hanelle! And the campground is super nice. Please don't try to run your air conditioner on their solar powered electrical system. Just take a dip in the pool, instead.

Report Check-In

Chuparosa means “red-sucker” for the hummingbirds that visit the gardens as well as a lot of other birds. The RV park has blossumed with more trees and flowers since the photos show and the pool is finished. Still a lovely small campground with amazingly helpfull owners. It’s quiet usually, no kids and low impact RVing rules allow for a very nice stay. We came to stay 2 nights and after 27 nights we are still here. Thanks for a very enjoyable stay. AnC.

Report Check-In

amazing place with friendly and kind people. short walk to beach, pool, palapa with well stocked kitchen, fridge and freezer. highly recommend this place over don taco.

Report Check-In

We felt very comfortable in the 12 days we spent here. We loved the pool to cool off day and night. We were happy to use the fantastic palapas as an outdoor kitchen with freezer, gas cooker and barbeque.
A large shopping center is about 40 minutes by car in Crucecita, but in the village (5 minutes walk) there is freshly caught fish every day, fresh fruit and vegetables every Monday.

Go to the beach for snorkeling...beautiful corals right on the sandy beach. Equipment can be borrowed from Hannele and John for free. Two bicycles are also available if, for example, you want to go to wonderful secluded beaches.

ATTENTION: take enough antimosquito spray with you. The beasts are very aggressive here. You can also keep them away with coconut shell smoke....

Thank you Hannele and John.
We will come back....

Report Check-In

Loved this place! Hannele and John are wonderful, helpful hosts with great info about the area and fun to chat with in general. The beaches here are absolutely gorgeous with great snorkeling- some of the largest coral reefs I’ve seen in Mexico! You can borrow their bikes, snorkel gear, use the outdoor kitchen, and cool off in the pool. It’s was very relaxing!

They also sell some drinks, delicious local coffee (1 kilo = 200p great deal!), and you can do a large load of laundry for 100p.

Only important thing to note that others haven’t said- bring bug spray- it’s next to a mangrove so in the rainy season the mosquitoes are extra friendly! You’ll find more of them on the bathroom side (where the mangrove is).

Report Check-In

just wow, nice helpful friendly couple, the place itself beautiful, all plants growing, nice pool, fruits, lots of birds, leguanas, huge outside Papala Kirchen with a big freezer, 4 plate gas cooker, free drinking water, amazing shower room, very good wifi in the whole area, laundry in big Maschine (100P) possible, Pizza oven just in process, also more space for Big rigs, you can use the bikes or snorkel gear for free, always ICE cubs, 300m to the beach....very quite place, call in main season before, no other space for big rigs than here, the road from Mainroad 200 is the Last 8km (unpaved) not in best condition, entrance to chuparosa easy for big rigs, turn left if you see the sign in the tree, notice no younger Kids allowed (asked/call before), lots of long term visitors in Winter season, good vegetable store next to Charlys restaurant, nice snorkel area also in rescalillo beach 3km.
you rent a fantastic room (1200P) also and in future a yurte and room inside a schoolbus.
We only left after 5 nights (a 350P) because of the heat at night - heatwave Mexiko June 2023 30Degr at night, its a Paradies you'll stay weeks or months.
Thanks Hanelle&John and good luck for All your Plans.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for 4 - very hot - days and nights. Nice place - together with our travel friends we were the only ones camping, probably due to being rather late in the seasons and hot weather. They have a complete outdoor kitchen that can be used - good for saving energy for the AC ;-)... Easy walk to the beach and restaurants and easy access for big rigs (we are 9m long and 3.85m high).

Report Check-In

Everything as written before...just like to than Hannele and John for the warm and touching days we had...just felt like leaving good friends today. Go there and just enjoy everything, you will have a great time as we did for 1 week!

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Staying here with Hanelle and John is like staying with friends. They’ve created a very welcoming environment. It’s a short walk or bike ride to several beaches and restaurants. If you get tired of expensive seafood, on the weekend you’ll find a little hole-in-the-wall place that serves up delicious, cheap barbacoa or birria on the street across from the football field/bus parking lot. The melon agua fresca is amazing there, too! Look for the hand written sign.

Nice Canadians owners, Nice pool, Nice hot shower, Nice toilet
Full hookup

Very happy to be there

Report Check-In

What a great place ! We came for a day and stayed for a month. Hannelle and John, the owners are awesome . The garden park is absolutely the quietest place we have stayed and the work they have done in the few years they have been in operation is incredible. The palapa Kitchen beside the pool is a great place to hang out and mingle with other overlanders If there's anything you need John and Hannelle are right there , It feels like we have extended our family. Clean , Quiet , Friendly and a selection of beaches to choose from. Oh ! did I mention the drinking water is included and their rates are very reasonable.

Report Check-In

Nice, quiet place near the sea with lots of space and all facilities. Heartwarming welcome, you immediately feel at home here.

Report Check-In

We had a nice stay (too short) at this welcoming park. John was extremely helpful with a mechanical problem and everyone there was friendly and kind. We will be back for a longer stay.

Report Check-In

One of the best camping we did in Mexico so far ! Nice and clean place with a pool. The owner is really nice and you have REAL shower and REAL toilet with pression (you can even put the paper in the toilet ^^).

He also have a dump station and you have free drinking water on site. And for the WiFi he has Starlink so you can work from there.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

We loved to stay at Chuparosa RV park, it’s a wonderful place. Beautiful garden, flowers and birds are everywhere. Every year the trees get bigger, there are more flowers and there’s always fresh fruit. The RV sites are big so you can enjoy your privacy but you can also enjoy the company of other travellers under the big Palapa with fully equipped kitchen, fridge and freezer, drinking water is for free. Clean toilets and hot showers, possibility to do laundry. They have a very nice and clean swimming pool. My husband is paralysed but even for him it was possible to get into the swimming pool and enjoy the coolness of the water. There’s also ramp to get under the palapa. John and Hannele do everything they can for there clients and they know a lot of nice walking trails to different beaches and good snorkelling places. Its a place to come back.

Report Check-In

We loved this place! Everything is as described below. For us, this is a better choice than Don Taco, because it is just a short stroll to the beach for snorkelling, but the campsite is delightful and you are removed from the crowded hubbub of the beach. Maybe it’s not always like this, but in January the beach is absolutely jam packed. Also having a nice pool to cool off in is a huge bonus.

The owners here were so kind to us and our 2 kids - even helping with the home schooling! They learned about the Zapotecs and had a tour of the tropical fruit garden.

Highly recommended. Charge was 400pesos for us (300P base price, plus 50P each for our kids)

Report Check-In

We were here already for the second time and staid now for 2 weeks. It’s such a beautiful and tranquil place with a well maintained garden with lots of flowers and tropical fruits that are shared with the guests. It’s wonderful to take a swim in the super clean pool and relax under the cool and big palapa where WiFi is fast, cold drinking water is available for free and an amazing kitchen is inviting you for culinary excesses. Swim and snorkel beach in a few minutes walking distance as well as the empty no-swim Coyote beach to enjoy nature just by yourself. But the best of all are the owners Hannele and John, always there to help you with anything you need. We got stuck with our camper (we couldn’t leave anymore because the car didn’t start and it wasn’t a battery issue) and John has checked and tested all components and wires in the motor compartment under the hot sun to finally find out the starter wasn’t functioning well and some other smaller issues. It took days but nothing was too much for him. He helped us with his car to go to town to have the starter fixed. Mexicans are masters in repair, so all came to a good end. All in all Chuparosa Gardens was the best place to get stuck. We enjoyed Christmas Eve all together under the palapa and Hanelle prepared delicious turkey. J&H also took us to undiscovered places where you only can dream of in Europe. Needless to say we highly recommend this gem!

Report Check-In

What a gem! Such an inviting comfortable and friendly place to spend some time. John and Hanelle have done a marvelous job with this property. Gardens full of birds and butterflies, immaculate pool, inviting palapa, full hook ups, clean toilets and showers and only steps from a gorgeous snorkeling bay. You can’t go wrong here. They have space for bigger trailers if you can negotiate the road in. A little rough but 4WD not needed.

Report Check-In

Pros: Great bathrooms, great kitchen/communal areas, large sites and great pool. Owners were nice and its a short walk to a great beach for swimming and snorkeling. Further than “advertised” but still short. Very good, strong communal feeling.
Cons: Mosquitos! Use of air conditioning and/or generators is VERY STRONGLY discouraged. While the sites are big rig friendly, getting there is not. Its a very long, very rough, very windy road. I would never to it in something longer than 32ft. Wifi was inconsistent, weak and only available under the palapa when we were there.

Report Check-In

What a special place to stay while in Huatulco! Chuparosa Gardens is a must stay if you are in the area. It has everything you need and then some. You have a large outdoor palapa with a full working kitchen + bbq, clean bathrooms + showers, a beautifully kept fresh water pool, endless plants, flowers, + fruit trees all within close walking proximity to the beaches.

John + Hannele are incredible hosts, always willing to go above + beyond. We stayed in the room above the main house with a private bathroom (plus the best view of the property) for $1000 pesos/night) for part of our two month stay + we don’t regret it. It was a nice change from our truck camper (which is $300/night for full hook up site).

We also love that they were pet friendly, eco-conscious (solar ran property + compost on-site).

We can’t wait to return and swim in that pool!

Report Check-In

Amazing RV park!
We are a family of 4 with a dog and we stayed more than a month here.
They have two dogs there who were super friendly hosts to our wild guy.
John and Janelle are amazing hosts, always thinking of a new extra they can offer to make things more convenient for their guests. The pool is the best, super clean. Bathrooms are real Canadian style and clean as well. Showers are high pressure and hot if you want.
They run the park on solar power so aircon was discouraged. But you can still plug in and run fans. Wifi was fast (I’d say best in the area, but it is Mexico so expect the odd outage).
The area is amazing. Playa san augustin is a chill little beach with lovely people and awesome snorkelling. There are a few other beaches within walking/biking distance. You can also get to Mazunte and zipolete beaches or Crucecita city within an hour drive or by public transit.

Report Check-In

The reviews speak for themselves. We camped three nights in our tent and even in April we slept comfortably with blankets because of the breeze coming from the shore. Spacious park with a stocked kitchen to cook in by the pool, cute dogs, and just a few minutes from the beach. Beer, coffee, and carbonated water for sale from the owners for cheap (20 pesos beer, 15 pesos mineral water) plus complimentary potable water. Good showers and clean toilets. We will definitely be back!

Report Check-In

As others have said, great spot. Brand new pool cleaned daily, dog friendly, good bathrooms (with the best showers I've had in 2 months in Mexico), super friendly hosts. You won't regret staying here.

Report Check-In

We had a really great stay here - nice location to walk to the beach, super clean and beautiful property, friendly and helpful owners. Highly recommend!

Report Check-In

We loved our stay here, the campground is as described below, we enjoyed our quiet, shady site under a tree, the refreshing pool and the common kitchen area. Most of all we liked the company of John and Hannele, who are super friendly hosts and always love to provide a little extra information (best snorkel beach/time, best restaurant around). We could rent snorkeling gear and bicycles for free to discover the nearby small reef which is full of colourful fishes and turtles - Really worth a visit and recommended!

Report Check-In

Spent 3 nights here and loved it. Our favorite spot on the oaxaca coast. The beach is only a short walk away and the nicest crystal clear waters we have seen in mexico.
The campground is very well maintained and the pool is brand new and super refreshing after beeing in the salt water.
We opted for no electricity, since we have enough solar to keep us going.
The shared palapas kitchen was fun to hang out and chat with other travelers, the owners also sell beer for the same price as the small tiendas down the road, which is great.
Bring cash there is no ATM in the little beach town and the only downside are the restaurant at the beach are overpriced. We did eat at El Capi twice, their Papillion Fish is 5 star!

Defintley don't miss this awesome campground when visiting the Oaxaca Coast!

We had a wonderful time at Chuparosa gardens. It’s a quiet place, it’s perfect to relax because you have a lot of privacy. Full hook ups, new toilets, shower with hot water, fully equipped kitchen, free wifi, free drinking water. Close to the beaches. John and Hannele are very welcoming and friendly, they do everything to help and make you feel welcome.

Report Check-In

Spent two quiet nights here (one a Saturday) and reluctantly had to leave because we're on a schedule. John is very hospitable and puts a lot of love into developing the place. We were impressed with the use of photo voltaic solar power for the park: being ecological without having "ECO!" in the name. We want to come back to and see how it's grown!

Paid MXN 125 per person per night and MXN 50 for electricity.

We stayed here for four nights although we had planned only one night. We enjoyed it very much, everything is well organised and perfect clean, it is one of the nicest camps we know. The host John and Channel are super nice, and the beach 300m to walk is perfect for swimming. This place is really worth to visit. 300 pesos full hook up, 250 without power and 200 if you don't need something.

We spent 2 nights at Chuparosa RV park. There is no shade for the vehicles but the large palapa makes up for this. The palapa is large with lots of shade and a cool breeze. The kitchen is well stocked and the wifi is super fast.  John and Hannel are awesome hosts. They supply a map of the area and gave us suggestions where to eat and snorkel. The cost was 200p for 2 people each night.
