Very cool little museum. Yes the price is 30 per person, a little steep. But the mummy section is worth the cost of entry. We also had a guide follow us around and explain many of the artifacts and mummies, which was nice. Garden is also very tranquil. This is also a community run museum, not funded by the government. So it’s a good way to support local efforts.

2022 update: ticket is now 30 soles, gift shop is empty. Well worth the money IMO.

we've entered this museum with high hopes based on the previous comments, and it was a let down. the ticket is 15 soles, but since no one was at the entrance we had to walk back to the entrance after the first guide. all the rooms before the mummies are filled with the pottery and knots without any explanation what is it or how it was used or why they believed in certain things. mummies were cool, it's a shame you can only check two, the rest is stored behind a glass wall too far to see.

If you are in the area, definitely stop by. We enjoyed our time here and learned a lot of good information from the various exhibits; you can easily spend 2 hours if not more. Entrance fee was 15 soles per adult. It includes parking on site.

Great museum. Don't skip it. Lot to learn about the Chachapoyas civilisation.
2h-3h for the visit.

Forget the mummies. Come here to visit the garden! Gorgeous indigenous flowers of all shapes and sizes. The museum itself is worth the stop too but I spent 30 mins in the museum and an hour wandering around the garden! If you're a plant person you'll be in love.

Really interesting Place. Well done. Worth visiting.

Great museum. Use Google translate as needed (mostly in Spanish) Cafe and gift shop closed on Sunday, darn. Be sure to turn on the light for the mummies.

DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE. Such a well-done exhibit and beautiful building. Cafeteria accepts Visa and has cookies and coffee and hot chocolate. Budget 1-2 hours for the whole tour.

15 soles per person (8 if you are a student), I think it’s 3s for children.

Hours: 10am-4:30pm

Still 15 soles per person for entry, great museum with information and artifacts from the surrounding region. There is also a shop with local crafts and a cafe here with many more options than the three sandwiches at KentiKafe, looked nice but we had already eaten.

Very nice little museum with some explainations in english and german. The mummies are in the second last room on the left side, next to the three coffins. Just switch the light on ;-) For us it was worth to visit and very interesting.

Nice little museum. Worth to visit if you are passing by.

Not a camping spot. But museum is nice. Small, but high quality. Contains artifacts collected from the various cliff tombs this area is famous for - including human remains. 15sol pp entry. The cafe across the road is also surprisingly nice - well above 'Peru average' standards! Lol. Do make an effort to find the room with the 219 preserved mummies - we missed it because the light was turned off!? We are pretty sad about that.

This museum has a nice lot that I really wish you could park in overnight. Entrance to museum was 15S per person

Report Check-In

It is not allowed to camp here overnight.

This would be perfect to spend the night with toilets and wifi, however when we asked we were turned down. Others may have more luck. The museum is very good and is on the road to Celendin.
