Latest Check-Ins

Nice place and a cool trail up to sea view but $53 for a RV night with no hookup and a open wind shower is a bit overpriced...as many things in Carmel and Monterrey.

Report Check-In

Cost is now $ 53 for RVs max 21 ft / vans / truck campers, 47$ for cars and tents. First come first serve, payment cash or local check only.

Showers and dump for campers included, for non-campers showers $4, dump $13.

Nice: dishwashing sink with hot water behind the restrooms and very quite for being so central

Report Check-In

Campground has a hiker&biker site (10$/person) showers are warm and included.
The restroom could use some renovation. It is a bit difficult to reach the place by bike - goes uphill.

Official campgroung in monterey.
self registration!
47 $for one night!
restroom and shower on the campground

Report Check-In

It’s now $47. Also people reserve spaces by placing a slip thing but nothing more. They say no reservations but it is a lie. Also, the sites are extremely uneven and not level. Only a few are somewhat level.

Report Check-In

No reservations accepted, first come, first serve, which is so hard to find these days, at least in this area, and much appreciated. Beautiful city campground in Monterey where you hear taps playing each night at 10pm. $44 plus $6 for our van which if you need or want to be near here is much better than $200+ for a hotel. Enjoyed the walk down the hill to Trader Joe’s and a brewery, about a mile.

Report Check-In

They are fairly strict on the 21 ft vehicle limit. We are a 26ft class c and they didn't kick us out but they asked us not to come back.
Free dump station and potable water for campers. 3 day camping limit.

Report Check-In

$44 / night. Expensive but nice campground and perfect if you need to be in the area!

Showers are $3 for campers and $4 for non campers. Verizon cell works ok.

Ranger is on top of collecting money for each campground so be sure to pay within the 30 minute time limit.

Showers are “warm”, but still kinda cold.

Report Check-In

$44/night + $6/night "surcharge" for all "recreation vehicles", which seems to include all campers, vans, trailers.... Seems rather expensive for dry camping. They offer free showers but the restroom bldg is an unheated brick bldg with an open entrance with no door, so it's going to be awfully cold having a shower in November!

Report Check-In

great place to stay in Monterey. hiking down to the town via Veterans Dr and Jefferson St takes 15-20 minutes. nice neighborhood

Report Check-In

$44 for us to park in a beautiful spot, hot showers if you need them, and at night, there were maybe 40 deer all around our van! It was magical. There’s electric plugs in the bathroom if you need to charge anything, flushing toilets and toilet paper, sinks w hot and cold water, and 2 showers w hot water tho the bathroom gets pretty cold depending on the weather. Will definitely stay again.

Report Check-In

Echoing previous comments. $44/night. We arrived in the week and it started to fill up after 6pm. Easy to find a spot. They also let people who aren’t campers use the showers for $4/person. We walked up and down the hill into central Monterey in about 20 mins each way.

Report Check-In

As noted, 1st come 1st serve. 3day max. check out by 12p. Push button showers & sinks. For women's bathroom: 2 stalls & 2 showers. There is a separate ADA accessible bathroom that I assume has a shower in it as well. Sink behind the bathroom.
Pay $44/night at pay station cash/check. Different prices for hikers (one common camping plot) & motorcycles (I think).
The park is on a hill so it's hard to find a level spot. There are some, but I think those that are more secluded are not.
Weather was in 50s/60s and didn't have signs of sun until ~2p. Overall, good place to stay to recharge.

Report Check-In

We were very happy to have found this place as there was no other camping parks available! It is a first-come with no reservations. Perfect. It cost us 45$ without electricity. There is free dumping for campers, water taps around, free hot showers. It does the trick! Many spaces were available.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsites, most in the shade of coastal live oaks. Bathrooms are older. but clean with free showers. We arrived at noon on Monday, April 1st and about 75% of the campsites were available. Looks like there were at least 15 spots still open overnight. This is a first come campground (no reservations) in a great location so I was worried about getting a spot.

Awesome little campground in the middle of Monterey. Got here on Saturday morning wheeler all other options were booked solid. 1st come first served. $42 for dry camping, free water and dump. Showers and restrooms included.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsite in the middle of Monterey. Got charged extra for having a class B. Didn't mind but signage wasn't clear. Good cell service. Clean toilets.

Report Check-In

Nice quiet campground. Friendly host. Currently $42 per night. Showers are lukewarm, not hot, but better than most state parks we’ve stayed at. Fires allowed until 10 pm. Quiet hours start at 8 pm. Would stay here again.

Report Check-In

since boondocks got in Monterey will get you a big fine we stumbled o to this lovely park 5 minutes from downtown. Its $40/night. Hot showers free for campers or $3 for non-campers. no reservations required, near empty.

Report Check-In

Clean park up the hill from town. It's quiet this time of year and bathrooms have warm showers free for campers. Dumping is also free for campers and they have water fill. We were going to stay one night but added another as we can walk to town and relax while we're here. $40/night

Report Check-In

Beautiful tent campground! $40 a night and five dollar discount with a senior pass. First come first serve. Decent bathrooms with shower and sink for dishwashing. No fires allowed. Close to the Monterey Bay aquarium.

Report Check-In

Nice enough campground, plenty of vacancy. Expensive at $40 for a night but we gave up & didn’t want to drive anymore. Clean bathrooms. Even at $40 for a site, they want you to pay for a shower. Fine as a last resort.

Report Check-In

Nice campground. We stay here when we drive through Monterey. Not much free camping in this area. Cost has gone up to $40 per site. Kind of expensive for a small basic campground but it has flush toilets and hot showers included.

Report Check-In

Basic camping ground. Small for my taste but suitable for a couple nights. Camp sites are right next to eachother. $35 per night. Showers free for campers. Dish wash station. Ranger comes by often. A bit pricey for what they have.

Report Check-In

Now $40. We've been boondocking for a week and needed to dump and fill and get a real shower! Good place to chill and get ready for more adventures. Park was pretty full and needed a few blocks to get the Sprinter level. LTE on Google Fi Network.

Report Check-In

If you need a place and guarantee that you won’t get a ticket or knock on window I recommend this place, the spots are flat with picnic table but otherwise this place is no frills & $35. Bathrooms were not in best shape on my visit, but manageable in a pinch.

Report Check-In

Basic state campground, 35$ per night self registration only by cash. Hot shower and bathroom and pretty quiet. Easy to access just few minutes from Monterey and Pacific Grove. You can book your spot, leave some stuff on it and go enjoy the city or the beach. Can be busy on weekend.

Report Check-In

Fees are now $35 for a night, self check-in and payment, first come first serve basis. Showers/bathrooms were fairly clean

Report Check-In

Spent 2 quite and relaxing nights here! Hot showers for free for campers. There is a playground for kids and we had service (at&t and t-mobile) all in all a very clean camping ground. Recommended!

Report Check-In

30$ no services, but hot showers and a great playground for kids. Dumb station and water at the entrance. 20 minutes walk to downtown Monterrey.

Report Check-In

Still a good and very quit Campground. $ 30 for a site, dump station, potable water, toilet and free shower (no time limit) available. Cheap and amazing spot if you are coming from San Francisco, where they want charge you $ 20 for dumping and water!!

Report Check-In

Easily accessible, $30 a night. They come around 8pm to check the license plate to make sure you paid. Free showers, clean bathrooms. We set up tents here. Not too loud 10pm curfew so its quiet.

Report Check-In

Showers are not public! They are for the campground but if you ask the guy from the campground he will give you the ok to take a shower for 2$! Please ask to keep this opportunity open!

Report Check-In

Nice, quiet little park in the middle of a residential area. As previously stated, free showers for campers, though there were vagrants that came in and were using after dark. Felt safe and it was very quiet. $30 night for dry camping in Monterey.

Report Check-In

Top! We came here very late. No problems. $30/night.
We shared a spot with someone ($19/night)

Report Check-In

Great camp spot. Only $6 per person for Hiker Biker camping and showers are FREE! John, the park warden when we stayed, was super friendly & helpful. No onsite shop or restaurant but Duffy's Pub is only 10-15 minutes walk and there is a Trader Joes 2km away in downtown Monterey

Report Check-In

Showers are still there. Sign: for campers only.

Report Check-In

There are no public showers at this place anymore (you could easily take one without anyone's notice though). But there're official coin operated showers at Coastal Guard Pier (50 cent/3 min).

Report Check-In

Public hot showers!!! This is a gem in Monterrey. $2 per person to shower. Free if you are camping $30/night. As expected you may encounter some vagrants however there is a park ranger on site and it is very well regulated.
