Elk Meadow- BLM land | Wild Camping

Off of 395S, a short drive up a moderately steep dirt road leads you to a small section of relatively level BLM space surrounded by ranch land. Sunset views were amazing. 4 bars Verizon LTE

Beautiful views, terrible winds! I don't know if this is a particularly windy time of year for this area, or if it's always like this, but holy moly! The wind was relentless. We pulled in around 5pm last night and it was super windy, but we figured it would eventually let up once the sun went down. Nope. We were buffeted all night by very loud, blowing gusts, and after a restless night woke up to the same blustery conditions.
Great views though, so if you don't mind the wind, this place is fine. Maybe think twice if you're in a tent.

Quiet, good cell service, we saw a bunch of elks and that’s pretty much it

Quiet solitude with a nice view on top of a hill looking down into meadows. Strong Verizon signal. Can be a bit windy.

Really gorgeous vistas across Pilot Rock mountain meadows. I’ve not seen elk, only cows grazing but it’s pretty dry now. Did see kestrel and blue birds and hearing howl of some kind of canine. Similarly, no one else here. The road has small rocks, not gravel and it’s a bit steep initially but my 2wd/front drive promaster made it fine. At a mile, look for a flat spot and block the NW wind.

sleep rocky road but we all made it here with 2 wheel drive. will probably be worst if wet. very nice view and good Verizon service.

Access via gravel road. Open meadow on BLM land with an awesome view. Good cell service. Elk feeding in the meadows.
