Latest Check-Ins

We stayed here and had a fairly good experience.
we arrived at 5:55 pm to the gate which closes at 6pm on weekdays (weekends might be different). You have to drive up to the registration building which closes at 4:30 on weekdays (see photo for times). There is a sign closer to the campsites that says you can pay the next morning if arriving late, which we did, R120 ppn for the night. Hot showers, clean-ish abolutions, as far as I could tell each site had a braai and a spot for a fire. It was very windy so we decided to move our bakkie and RTT under a tree for some wind breakage. Beautiful spot. We were the only ones there.

Very beautiful, quiet and secluded site. The final 50 km of gravel is slow-going even with a Toyota Hilux 4x4. On arrival, the camp site is another 2 km down a rough road. Basic ablutions. We opted to stay in one of the chalets, which was a good call because a huge thunder storm ran through the mountains. Very friendly and welcoming staff. The site has a shop selling wood, canned food and sweet stuff, bottled drinks and milk. In summary, beautiful site, lovely staff, but remote and basic camping; the chalets are nice. ZAR100 pppn.

Beautiful location in the heart of the Berg. Remote camping, which is basic but right in the mountains. Ablutions are good but basic. Lovely, helpful and friendly staff. Basic shop selling canned foods, long life milk, sweets. Can trout fish in the Lotheni River. Suggest you bring your own rod and flies. Excellent walks from camp. We’re did the Emadundwini Trail - excellent views of the mountains and valleys. The weather is very changeable so be prepared. There was a storm when we arrived to opted for a chalet. R460 pn for two people. Highly recommended if you like wilderness.

Natural KZN Campground with a nice setting in the foothills of the Drakensberg mountain range. Very quiet and remote, we were the only campers there. Nice but not spectacular hiking options. No cell phone signal. 90 ZAR p.P.

Report Check-In

Nice, peaceful campsite and well maintained. Did two hikes, Eagle trail and Ewandindwini trail. Second has a very nice pool almost at the middle of the trail. No Cell C reception at the campsite, but you'll find it at some places in the mountains. Still 90,- pppn

Report Check-In

Really nice place to stay for a while. Still 90R pp.
Very friendly stuff
As it is located in a national park pets are NOT allowed.

Nothing new to tell, but photos to add.
No connection with MTN in the camp only in the mountains above.

Still a beautifully maintained campground in a gorgeous site. Cost is R90 per person. Hikes depart from the main office, 2 km from the campground. We also loved the Emadundwini route. It took us about 5 hours.
We arrived at Lotheni in the pouring rain, and ended up taking the Mountain Hut, which is right off the campground and costs R300 total (for two adults) per night. No electricity. Kerosene lamps. Wood stove. Hot water. Very atmospheric. We were grateful to stay there!
