Something not right?

Description

Road now requires HC but no 4wd. Might be worse when wet. We set up on a little hilltop to the left of these coordinates and had a great (though unfortunately very smoky) 360 view of the mountains and city. 4 bars Verizon LTE. Some trash up here. Raley’s ONE Market down on the highway has block ice and a fancy prepared food counter. There are restaurants and gas down there, too.
Good desert camping on Forest Service land near reno. Lots of places and tracks. High clearance needed as of 8/15/2021. NO SHADE!

Not great. Difficult road in so we didn't make it all the way to the marked location. Much of the evening pickups went tearing past presumably to a good Friday night party in the desert. Overall not terrible but probably wouldn't camp here again.

Very washed out road but made it in stock FWD 08 sienna.

Great view and lots of space

Report Check-In

the road is extremely washed out. we didn't stay

Report Check-In

Did not stay! Large open area that a-holes blast past your camp at night. 9:30p some guy comes flying past our camp 3 times apparently trying to grenade his POS. Shortly there after someone else comes rolling up in their mom’s BMW. Just a children’s playground after dark.

Don’t let the wide open pictures fool you. Not much safe space to camp. Bummer because the view is amazing.

Extremely bumpy on the way in but if you go slow, can make it past but also in a Toyota Highlander. Great service, spent the day working remote here. Only had one dirt bike pass through in early afternoon.

Nice quite place came out here with my dog cause hotels were to expensive this weekend. Road is a little sketchy but I made it in my stock 2012 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 dually with no problems.

Chose not to continue even in high clearance 2WD after seeing the road. Photo included

Great spot! Nice and quiet with a beautiful view of Reno during the sunrise. We got to the site when it was dark so it was hard to navigate the road. We did park near others, but not close enough to bother them setting up camp. There were so many spots along the road to park. There were no bathrooms, electricity and it was a completely free stay. I would stay here again! The road going up to the camp spots is uneven and could be difficult with a car that doesn’t have much clearance.

Report Check-In

Excellent place lots of places to park great views. The road in is extremely bad in places. Wash outs and ruts. I have a 2wd sprinter with aggressive tires. I didn’t have a problem but if you have low ground clearance don’t attempt there’s really no turn around spots.

Report Check-In

The road in is severely washed out in several spots so high clearance is mandatory. 2WD could make it but the margin for error is so slim that I wouldn't want to try it without 4WD. Mud or snow would rule this out for me. All that said, once you're in there is plenty of space and you're tucked in far enough from the road that only occasional plane noise is heard at night. During the day, you will likely get OHV noise as this seems a popular spot for it. In conclusion, this spot was fine for middle of the week use but I'm not sure I'd stay here over a weekend due to OHV use and definitely not during bad weather.

Great quiet spot with amazing views of Reno and Tahoe mountains! Rutted road yet driveable as long as it’s dry. Many offshoots off the main road. Enjoy!
