**please, park in the parking in front of the Walmart, with the police cars (GPS: N 29.92544, W 90.06998 ). If you park in the lot right by the Walmart, you might be tell to leave, as other comments mentioned **
Free overnight parking at Walmart in New Orleans. Restrooms & wifi at McDonalds. Quiet at night (it closes at 10) and pretty safe. A sheriff was on duty in Walmart while 20-30 police cars where parked outside of the store.
Only 4km to the French Qt through the warehouse district. Safe route if you take the Tchoupitoulas street all the way to Canal Str. You can also ride the bus.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Pretty busy Walmart, probably not the best spot in town, but they let you sleep here undisturbed. Bathroom, Wifi, also pretty close to downtown and to a nice neighborhood.
Report Check-InWas immediately asked to leave by the parking attendant. Walmart wants the parking lot empty 10 "because covid"
Head on down to Boomtown! No problem there.
Report Check-InNot allowing overnight parking. Parked 2 hours before close and they came right over and kicked me out even though I went in and bought groceries. They said covid was the reason which doesn’t make sense since I’m not bothering anybody.
Report Check-InParker here and then within 5 hours a security officer came to say I couldn’t stay because of covid. He was going to show me another place then last minute he said I could stay. He would tell the next officer on shift I was having car issues. I got lucky but not as likely that you will. Around 9AM a tow truck knocked on my door. He said they don’t like anyone there since they often get robbed at gunpoint. I left shortly after.
Report Check-InSlept here for night. No one bothered us. The police station is right in front of it. From 11pm-1am 2 trains passed by. They both woke us up. Besides loud a** train. Great spot.
Report Check-InWe spent 2 night here with no problem. 3 bus line to go to the downtown. So a really good place for visiting New Orleans !
Report Check-InBon place sans problème... il y a beaucoup de voitures de police sur le parking car il on leur garage juste à côter ...
Report Check-InMy understanding is that the WalMart parking is not allowing RVs overnight but the lot in front is (GPS: N 29.92544, W 90.06998)
The lot is used by the police to park their cars, so feel obviously very safe. Several others RVs too. Quiet.
We spent 4 nights and it was fine.
You can ride the bus for $1,25 to get to the French Quarter (#10 or #19).
The security told me at 11 pm as i stand by my RV: If i see everyone from any RV after 10 pm i have to tell him, leave this Lot. He show me a place nearby between the Police-RV to stand the night. (Photo :-))
The Camper next to my at the Walmart-lot wasn’t bothered.
We were there for 2 nights, no problem. very nice place next to downtown
Report Check-InPolice park here because there’s a New Orleans Police Traffic Division right next door.
Report Check-InThere is an Anytime Fitness close by however if you don’t have a membership they are only available after 11am and closed Sundays for trials
Report Check-InStayed here for the night with 4 RV’s. Perfect place for visit downtown . Most noice was from the generator from a other rv.
Report Check-InOvernight allowed, good place to visit the city. Quite noisy due to train and city noises. Good place overall
Report Check-InThere are definitely several "no overnight" signs on the lot although mentioned for "semi-trailers" so I asked at the customer service for permission who said NO (even with a camper van). There are several residential streets behind walmart's lot with no signs at all that seemed more quiet, we moved there.
Report Check-InOvernight parking is NOT forbidden. You can stay as you like. Good place to explore french quarter.
Report Check-InOvernight parking allowed by management and okay with police. Peaceful, some traffic, train, ship noise. Store open until 10pm. 45min walk downtown (not a nice walk). Or you can take the bus, stopping right at Walmart heading for Esplanade.
Well lit, level, little shade, free. Many police cars parked here, stayed close to them.
Okay spot for it being in New Orleans.

Nothing scary on our way back ;-) New Orleans is a must if you head south east!!
