Report Check-In

Arrived at a Saturday around 3 pm, entered the maingate. Nobody stopped us. Arrived at the red house, nobody was there. We had a nep and coffee, but nobody showed up. As others told, a police car came by and we asked them about the place. They told us to go back to the maingate and talk to the guys. Finaly we went on to the policia tourismo parking lot. Felt much safer.

Report Check-In

We wanted to go there but the guy started to answer us, and at some point stopped.
It's much more easier to go to the turist police parking.

At the end of the parqueo there is a red house the owner lived 15 years in USA and is happy to allowed you to park overnight in front his door, if you prefer he will give you the direction of his other house near ciudad vieja where you would be able to park in the private garden and meet Americans NGO volunteers who rent rooms there. For 50 Qtz per night per rig he will let you use electricity and water to fill your tank and wifi from your RV. (Low signal but quick enough).
From the alley or the garden of the parqueo you will be able to watch Fuego volcano smoke or incandescent lava when you hear an explosion.
Market police cars uses to stay in the parqueo during the day and we felt enough safe to let our rig alone And we decided to visit Guatemala City by bus (10qtz ppers one way) and Pacaya volcano with a tour (8 USD ppers)

Secure Parking Lot (more like a long grassy avenue) in town opposite bus station in Antigua. Q125 per night. (bargained down from Q150). No facilities. Water faucet available. Some shade. Locked at 8pm!

Report Check-In

Unfortunately, the Tourist Police campground was closed for renovations, so we parked in this parking lot. Throughout the day, our vehicle was guarded by a man with a machete. We camped very nice under trees, it was quiet at night and we felt very safe.

The parking lot is centrally locaceted, right across from the bus station and the market. Since the gate is locked at 7pm for safety reasons we received a key from the owner.

(Price is made up of 50 Quetzal / day and 50 Quetzal / night.)
