Description

Marker 8 entrance. Need 12$ permit. I bought mine at HEB. Most popular access. Cold shower, trash cans, pit toilets. Very safe to ride. Large distance between dunes and sea. They plow the beach and lots of traffic. There is a zone delimited for people. It is close to the village, “good walking distance” or bike ride. Restaurant at marker 8

Awesome place to boondock, permits required, $12 / 3 nights only. The beach police checks everyday. Direct access to the beach for walking swimming surfing. Restroom and dumpsters all along the beach.

Awesome place to boondock, lots of room for big rig. A bit desappointed by the length of stay authorized, 3 nights over a 21 day period. Direct access to the beach for walks, swimming, surfing. Restroom all along the beach and lot of dumpsters.

Took a right off access road 1A. Last night we had turned left and drove towards the pier. It was busier up that way.
Tonight we ended up here because all the other access roads we took ended up with water flooding the beach parking area. (from here down to JP Luby Beach). So, returned to this area. Parking is on the beach side of the poles.

personally I like the area down by the jetty the best ( there are dolphins down there ) .. and 12.00 seems like a bit much for an overcrowded beach with no shells .. in an overpriced town after spending 14 days free right on the water only an hour away at Magnolia Beach and Indianola Beach .. . loved the dolphins so still giving 4☆s but hopefully part of the 12.00 goes to hiring someone to pick up all the bottle caps and kids drink containers and plastic bags
.. grateful for a place to camp so cheap for 3 days but if you're in the area .. there are much better places to go.

Great place for safe beach camping, nice packed sand so easy to drive and park on without the fear of getting stuck. Good cell (AT&T and Verizon) reception, but T-mobile wasn’t good for me.

Camping on the beach is awesome. This was a lovely spot, we stayed 2 nights. Lots of friendly travelers and locals passing by. Just a bit of heaven. We got our pass at HEB before the ferry, and it was money well spent.

Beach camping. if you are nervous of soft sand at all then come to this beach. Packed hard busy beach but room for everyone. We started looking for a free camping spot right down the other end in the national park. We stoped in at each beach along the way. Im not sure why but they all had soft sand. not for the faint of heart. anyway this beach is fantastic $12 pass required. Wind also isnt as bad as other parts of the island. Our dog is so happy to meet other dogs off leash too.

Lovely place … stayed for a week … hard packed sand, so no problem with 2 wheel drive … we have a Ford Transit van … people come during the day, but this time of year there are very few over night rigs. Beach is very clean too. This time of year you do not need a parking pass, but the visitor center said they start to enforce it around the second week of January… call them to be sure.

What a great spot! $12 beach/camping permit needed and well worth it. Picked one up at a local tourist shop. Pulled in June 1 for just one night, met so many great people, decided to stay for two! Lots of space, miles and miles to choose from. My Ram Promaster handled the beach drive with no issues!🤙🏼
