Apparently OSM doesn't have the sites mapped while Google does. I've added a few to OSM, coordinates of the site #12 are N 32° 27.838', W 085° 38.250'

I didn't really like it so much. Quite noisy from the interstate, no water (which is okay, but I've been to primitive campsites with water and restrooms). Road to 12 from both directions is like a forest road. from the south it's worse and more bumpy.

5G signal a few bars, no issues

So, it's okay, passable for one night, but nothing spectacular.

I stayed in site 12. I got here late and checked in with the ranges office the next morning to get a free permit. the rangers are really nice. all sites have fire rings! you can hear frogs at the site. there is a creek about 2 minutes to the right that leads into a stream about 5 minutes to the left. I went to see the lookout tower but do not climb because it's old and it's not maintained. a few people pulled in my site for directions and to find out how to get a free permit. ranger station is like 8 mins away. definitely loved being here. the trails were nice. there was some garbage so I picked it up and throw it away by the rangers station.

Amazing spot. Hidden gem for sure. We followed maps on my iPhone and it lead us to the trail head not the campsites. We used google maps and it lead us to the sites. We turned right on and went up to site 4(I think) only seen 2 other campers. Road was a bit crappy. Bottomed out a couple times in our campervan but just went slow. No cars went by. We were the only ones in our area. Site had a lot of broken glass and beer cans on it sadly(we picked them up) no amenities but town is 15 minutes from here. Would definitely stay here again.

Lot of great sites here. If you go past site #12 to where the road comes to the river bend, there's a place to park a small rig and some tent sites with fire rings right on the creek. Park close to the road for solar but pull back off at night, the locals like to race down the roads between 5 and 10

Forgot to mention: trash, grills, picnic tables & toilets are off US-29 in between Forest Roads 901 & 913

I stayed on site 11 and LOVED it!
Fairly level and large area.
The site was very clean when I stayed, I didn’t see any trash other than a broken bottle in the fire pit.
The Tuskegee Forest website says to obtain a free permit from the Ranger Station, but they were closed this morning so I went in without it.
Two bars Verizon LTE.

We drove east past the recreational area with the picnic tables then turned left on a dirt road. I believe this same road forms a U behind the recreational area because we also could have turned left before it. We found a nice level spot a ways off the FS road on the right, on a bit of a rise. Sadly, lots of trash (tons of TP, cans with bullet holes, condom wrappers) that we picked up. Otherwise a nice and quiet site. Established fire ring. There was someone in the site across the road, and a few trucks drove down the road late into the night. Might not have felt safe here as a solo woman, but felt fine for one night with my husband. Put toilets available at the recreation area (which was also littered with trash).

Sites were completely empty when I arrived so I decided to stay in the group camp because it has 2 bars of T Mobile. No problem getting in with my 2wd conversion van. The road has a pretty steep downward grade so I’d recommend trailers to scout on foot before coming in. The neighbor across the road from me pulled in with a Casita pulled by an Audi awd. He didn’t have any problems by the looks of it. Overall, wonderful stay and you can’t beat an Alabama Sunset.

Great dispersed camping with spots suitable for small to large rigs. 2WD ok in dry weather. Gravel roads, flat sun or shade spots. Recreation area near entrance has pit toilets tables and fire rings for day use. About 5 miles to town for supplies.

Report Check-In

Great little spot not too far off the highway. Very private and tranquil.

Report Check-In

Nice national forest with tons of forest service roads. The gps coordinates here will bring you to a pull off on the right, we ended up staying directly across from the pull off on the left. Both have plenty of space and are good for camping.

Easy walking distance to some trails ( down road to the left from where we stayed )
If arriving at night the turn off from the highway comes up fast and is surprising, just a heads up!
