We came late in at the border and the Insurance Comoany Shop was closed. So in town you can make your insurunce from 8 a.m. on a week day.
We paid for 14 days: 46 Belize-$. Eletronic cash is possible.

Just be aware that the office closes at 11:30 on Saturdays. In our case the office at border and this one wasn't open at all. But you also can get insurance at Atlantic Insurance, which is two blocks away. 60 BZ$ for a month.
Report Check-InIf you forget to get car insurance at the Santa Elena Belize-México border (like we did after 3 hours of border crossing bureaucracy), you can get it here. $60BZ for 1 month or $29BZ for 1 week. Bring driver’s license, car title, and tourist car import paper. Smooth process. English and Spanish spoken. Cash and credit card accepted. There are 2 lines, one for money transfers and another for insurance, so check that you’re in the correct line.
