Description

Free and safe overnight parking in soccer/football field or down by the “pier” where tours usually start. Ask for Yordy y Dina or Mama Rosa
or call him on( +51975365314 yordy) or his family (975365314) to take you to islas Uros for 15 soles per adult including the admission fee. Children go free. You can also bargain to stay on one of the Islands overnight.

Absolutely worth it! Heading from Puno, follow the paved road next to the railroad. Several Uros live on this place, were born on the floated islands and still have family there. First we drove to a private island where Omar explained how they build the islands. Then we could buy souvenirs (optional).

Latest Check-Ins

I can’t really share the enthusiasm for this trip. Yes it was nice to be taken to the island and see how the Urus live. But after we got a brief explanation about how the islands were build everything was about selling „handmade“ stuff to us.
Mama Rosa was pushing us hard to buy a handmade wall carpet for 150 Sol. When we refused she started telling us, that she works one month for a carpet and it feeds her family.
Today we went to the market in Copacabana and saw the exact same products for a fraction of the price. After that we were brought to a restaurant island, where we had to spend one hour if we wanted to eat or not.

To tour is nice, but be prepared to refuse a lot of offers.I don’t know if the other tours are the same, but here they bring you from island to island and you are expected to buy something additional to the 28 Sol pp.

Report Check-In

Me and my dog made a tour to Yordy and his family . With a boat we reached his island. He showed me how they build the islands and told me a lot about they live. It was very interesting and an amazing trip. I can highly recommend Yordy. Very spontaneous, I contact him per WhatsApp the evening before.

Report Check-In

Very nice family, native from the Uros Islands, gives you a private tour of their island and the area for 20 soles ppn (+ 8 soles ppn entry to the reserve). Yordy was gone fishing to provide for the family, so Mama Rosa was our guide and captain! She is absolutely the sweetest person, cares a lot for her family and way of life. She explained (in Spanish) everything of their lifestyle and the construction of the island, with a very clever miniature.
200% recommend this family for a tour, and if you can afford it, buy them some artesanias, which helps them provide for the family and give the children the opportunity to study!
We slept by the small “port”, quieter than the football field the offer you.

Report Check-In

Yordy and his family open their houses and hearts to let you feel their way of life and culture. We learned so much about the building if the floating islands, were allowed to enter their house, visited a primary school and enjoyed the boat trip on Lake Titicaca. Highly recommended. Whatsapp Yordy: +51 975 365 314

Report Check-In

Yordy and his family are the most warm and inviting people we have had the pleasure of meeting. From Yordys initial welcome with a big hug for everyone the tour begins and is incredible with all questions answered and a wealth of knowledge. Yordy opens up his family island and home and makes you feel incredibly welcome to have a look around and take as many pictures as you like without feeling invasive.
We would recommend this trip absolutely!
Thanks Yordy & Momma Rosa for the incredible experience.

Report Check-In

The concrete parking lot of the church is very unlevel and used by water trucks to turn around. Better to park in the dirt field across the train tracks.

Good for one night before or after an Uros tour with Yordy (recommended, see our entry "Departure Uros Tour). We stayed two nights due to a vet appointment the following morning.

Okay place. The usual noise of constantly barking dogs, some traffic, and fireworks one night. Smelly marsh as the lake recedes during the winter. We heard the soccer field floods during the wet season (local summer time).

Report Check-In

Big flat dirt soccer field to park on overnight across from little church. Yordy and Dina tour was great and he speaks good English. Floating Uros islands very interesting. Send Yordy a msg on WhatsApp to arrange details. Recommended!

Report Check-In

We camped here and then we out the following day with Yuri. It was a nice boat ride and we went on his family’s floating island. The camping was quiet and there are pit toilets. They may look locked but the locks are fastened. Tour was 20 apiece plus a 8s entrance fee to all the islands. Yuri and his family were great! You can eat out there at a restaurant, but we didn’t.

Report Check-In

Dirt terrain in front of little church. On the other side of the train tracks.

Terreno de terra em frente a uma pequena igreja. Tem que atravessar a linha do trem.

Report Check-In

Amazing tour with Yordy and his family. The tour is private and so welcoming. Highly recommended, we wouldn’t hesitate to repeat with them.

Report Check-In

Tuvimos una gran visita guiada con la madre de Yordi y su hermana. Solo podemos recomendar a todos que lo hagan con ellos.

Report Check-In

Yordy is still offering the islands service. Highly recommended, away from the normal tourist routes

Report Check-In

Great and interesting tour with Yordy, a very friendly and communicative person, we visited "his" island, lots of information. Of course we bought some handiworks there, especially as we were not on a mass-tourism tour. Very recommendable, just contact him the day before, as others have already described.

Report Check-In

Booked here with Yordy and Dina, great personal tour, avoid the mass tourism. Easy to park right at church, safe and secure. Just WhatsApp Yordy and Dina the day before, no problems. Tour usually starts around 10.

Report Check-In

we did the tour with Yordy. it was perfect. we contacted him by WhatsApp the evening before. We visited his family island and met the family. He explained everything about the culture of Uros islands. We had a wonderful trip so much better and relaxing than the expensive tour operators. this way you can spent your money on the souvenirs that you can buy from the locals and so you support the in the way they live their life. we loved yordy and his way how he guided us.

Report Check-In

No overnight parking in the church lot. Must overnight in the soccer/football field. But during the trip, park in front of the church.

Report Check-In

Did not stay here overnight. Stayed at the mirador (outside the city). BUT we did the tour with yordy and can recommend it to 100 %. You get a very local view and avoid the big touristic boats. You support the locals from Uros and not the agencies from Puno.

Report Check-In

Very safe and open place. Locals are very friendly and welcoming. Had a good night and then took the tour with Yordy. Please contact via WhatsApp +51 975 365314or directly to the right of the church

We contacted Yordy a day earlier by his watsapp // (+ 51975365314). We did the tour with Yordy and stayed the night on his island in a family house.
We parked in the church .yordy and dina were very friendly.
He took us first to a museum and then to his island where they live.
to the garden and to the school.
and then to the capital island (4 islands in total).
Then we returned to his island where our little totora house was located. yordy took us to fish, to harvest totora, and taught us how to make his crafts.
We also shared the food together. And what we liked most was that the children sang us in different languages.
We pay 100 soles for two people which includes dinner and breakfast plus their activities.
It was one of the best experiences we could have in S.A and with this kind and incredible family. We strongly recommend Yordy and Dina

Sur ce lieu habite William (étudiant en tourisme ) qui propose une visite privée sur l'île flottante de sa famille avec des explications très complètes sur l'histoire, la vie, et la vie de la communauté. We took the overnight 2 day tour with William. We parked at the church. William was awesome, he took us to his families island, 2 schools, fishing and to the restaurant which is where our hotel room was for the night. We bought handmade crafts from his mom, Nancy. Our tour included 3 meals and our room for the night. 2 adults and 3 kids for $125 we thought it was well worth it and one of the greatest things ever done so far in SA. We highly recommend William.

Possibilité de faire cette visite sur 2 jours avec une nuit sur une île.

Report Check-In

So we went to the Island with Vidal....and we are so disappointed...
To be honnest the only good thing is nothing happened to our car.
We took the boat and got to an Island.
It was supposed to be a prívate tour but once arrived we were left with all the tourists that came on collectivo boat to listen to the informations given by the président of the Island. Once finished vidal’s wife showed us her house, in fact we were invited just to see what she had to sell, and she was really Pushy!
She was also saying that these stuff were made by herself but in fact you can find this everywhere in Peru..
Then she insisted a lot for us to go on the « typical » boat with all the group of tourists going to the restaurant. She first asked 10pp et 5 by kid. She finally proposes 10 for both of us and the kids didn’t have to pay. She didn’t want us to stay in the Island because vidal was al ready on the other island because he gave a ride to an other overlanding family!
We could not évent visit the « capital »Island because we didn’t want to eat in thé restaurant ! The tour was then finished we had to come back to Puno! Maybe for Vidal to have time enough to bring back the other family after us!
And to finish, he tried to take us more money that what was discussed!
Worst expérience in Peru and maybe since Canada ! Nothing authentik just business!
Last thing, his woman said she was living on the island with kids but we ve seen all the family the day before at 9pm in Puno...

So if Vidal comes to you, say no thanks

The families here told us to camp down on the football pitch on other side of the train tracks. Lots of trash, smells awful from the mud and lake, and noisy all night. Next night we slept up at the mirador instead - clean and peaceful - way better than here! We did the tour with Yordy - highly recommend! William said he'd meet us at 10am but never showed up.

Safe place to spend the night before an Uros tour. The locals are VERY friendly, we felt like the whole village came to say Hello to us. The children were particularly friendly, jumping into the van and making themselves at home, they were polite though so we didn't mind. They asked us if they could take a pen and a shell that we had on the shelf, of course we didn't mind although soon after more children arrived also expecting gifts, so it would be a nice idea to bring pens or pencils to give the children here if you want.
We took a tour to the uros with William, he was great and we felt like we got a real local experience. His english is good too. We visited an island with an old museum and good view over the uros, his family island, his primary school and the capital island (where we shared a delicious trout ceviche). Tour was just over 3 hours and worth much more than the 15 soles pp William charges.

We sleep one here before doing the tour to Uros island with Roger. Super recomend tour, a must in titicaca lake. They charge us 15 soles per person and its a 3 hours tour, very interesting.
Be carefull because there are a lot of people that said that they are Roger and charge a big lot more, roger is attached in the photo

We just parked in front of the little yellow church and a nice lady, came to meet us. We explained we were looking for private boat tours and she called her husband, Valentino, who told us we could go on a tour when we wanted. We went with him the next morning and he brought us on a small island where his sons live. They explained us their way of live, shew us the way of building the islands, and clearly explained they earned money with fishing and tourism. Everything was very relaxed and we had long talks with these nice persons. We bought souvenirs and then Valentino shew us the school, explained us a lot of things, and brought us to the center island where we drank a beer together. He asked for 50soles for 2 persons, and a 3h tour. He was extremely friendly, nice, smiling, patient, relaxed... everything you need to feel comfortable.
Just park in front of the yellow church and ask for Valentino

This is the one to do. William, a 20 year old and his father (William on our trip) is happy, willing and perfectly able to show you his families island and interact and have fun. and hey, come on...15 Soles each! it's the bargain of you South American Tour. support the locals and not the 'Big Boys' and enjoy your trip so much more. we parked our van on the Church forecourt for the trip and the Municipal Plaza for the night. no problem.

I went on a private tour with Valentino Florez, you can get a tour at the church this is where he lives. Good guy who will take you for 20 sol (I was alone) his number is 966030844 just call him or ask around at the church for him.

We did the tour with Gustino. He lives in the house right of the church. 15 S/p. Very friendly guy. Brought us with his little boat to the Uro Islas and explained the history.

We did the tour with Roger, he is a really nice man, 15 soles pp. This is the what’s app of his daughter ‭+51 933 658 624‬.

Report Check-In

We did the tour today with Roger and his wife. This was really lovely and so interesting! Three of us cars slept in front of Rogers place (one on the soccer field which the neighbours said was totally fine) and had a great nights sleep. When we were on the tour, Roger asked one of his neighbours to watch our cars as well. Great end to our time in Peru.

Report Check-In

Today we did the tour with Roger and it's worth! We enjoyed it very much to visit the school, the place where he lives and even watch a place where the floating boats are made. Roger and his whole family are so nice! They gave us a deep view in the life of the indìgenas here. Thank you a lot!

Report Check-In

Did the excursion to Uros with Homar Suaña. He lives on the Islands and was Born there. Since we aboarded on the marked place, he had to took us to the actual touristic island. They rotate so everyone get tourists once. It is a handcraft stuff selling event where you get explained something about architecture and history. interesting since the islands are unique in the world. if you contact Omar privately, he picks you up in the city and shows his island, not so touristic and possible to sleep there. It was very enriching to spend time with Homar. You can contact him at 910140513 (no WhatsApp, no smartphone). He is very Happy to show his place of living. He also speaks a bit English.

Report Check-In

Would not recommend to sleep in front of this church. We arrived and annoying kids knocked immediately on our car, so we made the appointment with Roger (very nice and friendly guy) and slept in front of the Hotel Confort just a few minutes away.
Maps.me shows the street to this point only as a railway, but there is a new paved road with much speed-reducer fun ;-)

Report Check-In

We did the tour with Roger and his son William. The tour was very informative, we visited the school and their private island. Highly recommended! You will find Roger and his family in the small house behind the church.

Report Check-In

The tour was awesome, highly recommended.
We paid 10 soles pp + 5 soles pp for the island entrance. We also bought a couple souvenirs from Roger's wife (you don't have to, we just felt like we wanted to). All included we spent 50 soles for two people and it was absolutely worth it.

Report Check-In

We were looking for roger but we wasn't there. But we met Jose Lujano Charca who took us to his island and explained everything to us. We paid 30 for the two of us plus 5 (instead of 8) entrench fee. We could easily negotiate the enternce into the 30 for sure but we did not. We got a little present aswell. We really enjoyed it. His contacts: 956581782 the number is both: R.P.M. And cellular (Movistar). He lives next to the church.

Report Check-In

We were here to visit Uros con Roger. We called him in the morning and met him 2 hours after at the church of Chulluni. He is very friendly and explains a lot of things on the culture and the way to build these islands. We saw schools and then his house where he showed us the handcrafts done by his wife. We bought a tissue (not obligatory) at 40 s./ and didn't want to negociate. So at the end, the tour coast us 60s./ If you call him the day before you can eat at his house or go to a restaurant in an island. Very recommended !!

Report Check-In

Slept in front of the church and there was anoying with all the children touching around the car, and the worst a taxi driver with full loud local music parked next to at 4:30am, uncredible!!

The tour with Roger and his wife was worth. They bring us to their turi-island on the day they was off and enjoy with them doing crafts and telling stories.
We paid 10soles each.

Report Check-In

It'not a secure place. During the night, a man a little bit drunk knocked at the door and he want money if we stay there. He said that he was the chief of the village. We refused. We said : we don't want to pay, call the police if you want. He called the police. The police arrived and said is better for our security to go on the municipal parking in Puno close to the boat terminal because police do tours during the night.

Report Check-In

We met up with Roger and his son William. Excellent tour for just the two of us. He asked for only 10 soles each. He took us through quiet channels to his family's island. There is hope and expectation that you will buy some of the handicrafts offered there. We are suckers for that, and we did. The 17 soles lunch is with the main tourist crowd, but Roger morphed into our own private waiter and served us right away. We think the lunch is worth skipping, though. Much more interesting is spending time with him in the quiet channels only the locals use. We gave him a BIG tip. The coordinates are correct, but for some reason, our GPS and maps.me wrongly took us up a gravel road above the village. Don't believe it and stick to the paved road.

Only asked for 10 Sol/person but we gave 30 for two people. Nice guy, very flexible depending on what you want to see/do. Speaks slowly and is easy to understand. He brings to to his house where his wife does sell crafts, he didn't pressure though. He brought us to lunch at the restaurant which was only on. Great experience though, really enjoyed the islands.

Wow! This is the best experience we've had in Peru. Roger and his wife Nancy introduced us to his grandparents, invited us to their homes and told us about their life in the Uros Islands.
