Description

The owner family is very nice and friendly, had awesome 3 nights here, swimming and goofing around the sand bars at low tide with their kids, family dinners with home smoked tuna pupusas and 9 year old Rodrigo who is keen on washing your dishes, cleaning your car, preparing Micheladas and checking your Solar System (Rodrigo likes to be addressed as Ingeniero Solar.)

We chose this place over Irma because the grassy area which Irma did not have.

If you park just after the green entrance gate to the right you get your own roofed 'patio'.

Outdoor shower with nice pressure
Indoor shower
Kids pool and pool for splashing
Running water
Nice palm leave roof and breeze to chill in hammocks.

Stay for free but please don't ruin their hospitality and consume their nicley prepared meals and drinks.

Cabañas with A/C and en suite bathroom 35usd p/n

Walk and swim across the bay to check out the sunset and beach or take the ferry in Zapote.

We were told that surfers who stopped by did say the surf was regular.

The experience we had with the family and the locations is the reason we travel.

Very nice place. Good food. Perfect for getting ready to cross the Guatemala border.

We had a very long driving day with a 2 hr wait on hwy 2 due to local drama or traffic. Planned to camp but arrived barely at sunset tired & hungry. Decided to eat at their restaurant & get a room. Food was excellent! Great view from upstairs deck. Other travelers/overlanders were camped in flat grassy area. Pools were drained due to new tiles being installed. Hopefully this will solve the problem of people getting injured on old tile. New tile in the pool looks great!

Family was super nice. I would recommend this location to other overlanders. Beautiful sunset. Apprx 30 minutes drive from here to La Hachadura, El Salvador border crossing.

Very warm and friendly people here. We parked on the grass just after the gate. The shore and the terrace are very nice. Showers and toilets are good and clean. Because we didn’t eat at the restaurant we paid 5 $ for the night and also bought a soda and a beer from the bar.

We stayed for one night and ate for 20$ in the restaurant. Good food, friendly family. Quiet night.
Wifi is working.

Nice place but no shadow for véhicule. Very hot🥵 but little breeze in the restaurant and swimming pool ok. Mostly for children because small. Be careful to floor tile: tile joint is not well done and our child cut some finger foot so go in the pool with shoes water. Better.

Nice family, place clean. Payed 5 Dollars because did consume not that much...just a small dish for dinner and 4 lemonades. Toilets and showers clean, but in showers the sink does not work, so you stay in the water. Pools fairly clean.

Awesome place and such a nice family! Indoor & outdoor showers, clean pool, nice restaurant right at the beach. As mentioned before, no fee for overnight stay but you have to order something in the restaurant. The food is good! :)

Very Nice place. Owner is very sympathic. Free spot but need to spend money at bar or restaurant without minimum. We recommend. Sunset is amazing

Very nice place, like others said, you only pay for what you eat and drink. We had good pupusas. People are very friendly, especially Francisco. I didn't try their wifi, but I had 3G+ and sometimes 4G with TIGO.

Awesome place!!! Fernando and his family are super nice. Eat some food here, the fish filled with camarones is one of the best things you can eat in central america. Clean facilities, good wifi. It can get full at the weekend.

We didn't found any nice place in the barra of Santiago, so we came here for 1 night. We ate at the restaurant $30usd (2 persons)

As mentioned before, lovely people, lovely place to visit and stay put for a few days after the border crossing or before. Fernando and his family were so kind, welcoming and generous! We stayed for 5 days for free, but ate breakfast and had drinks from the restaurant daily. Restaurant staff and the grounds caretaker were so attentive and helping us with everything from fresh water for our tank, to sharing local cuisine, and always had a smile! Most days were quiet, except Saturday but everything was quiet by 7pm. Our parking area was shady and we had a nice slice of grassy ground to hangout in our own area away from other day use guests. Highly recommend a visit, we will definitely be back! Bonus ocean breeze, gorgeous sunsets, and you can walk across the bay at low tide to explore the larger beaches!

Extremely nice first impression of El Salvador. You are still able to stay here for free but we did eat and drink a lot during the two nights we stayed. There is a small pool, showers, toilets and decent WiFi. You can get a lancha to pick you up for a tour into the mangroves to see crocodiles.. Overall very beautiful spot, great people and free so couldn't ask ask more. Very kind owner family!!

Spent 2 nights here. All as previous description. They had a washing machine here, which we could use. Only a small load at a time which we used 4 times, and gave them $10.
They were happy for us to use their washing line to dry our clothes. Much better value than in Guatemala!

Gorgeous stop, everyone was very friendly. We ate both dinner and breakfast here, the food was alright but not great. Drinks were amazing though, and obviously we still wanted to eat here to not take advantage of their hospitality. Cold showers are available, wifi is strong and fast. Password 61297260

The family running this place is really friendly. They are true self-made entrepeneurs who started the restaurant from scratch. We camped for free but we eat a lot of meals there. The food is good.
On the last night they got us delicious pupusas. The son of the family likes to talk a lot and was keen to learn how to pitch a tent and how to use a water filter.

We could pitch our tent underneed the roof of the restaurant, but we had to take it away during the day because it was Sunday and that is the bussiest day of the week for them. On monday we didn't need to take away the tent.

The places has (cold) showers, a warm swimming pool and good wifi. There are no shops close around so get anything you need beforehand.
There are small narrow boats going as a ferry to the other side of the lagoon for 1 dollar about 2km down the road. The boat is just big enough to take two bikes at the same time.
