C'est un camp de surfer, beaucoup de surfers européens qui passent leurs journées à "attendre la bonne vague" et leurs nuits à fumer du shit, boire et écouter de la musique, en disant "C'est ça le Mexique !!!"

It's a surfer camp, lots of European surfers who spend their days "waiting for the right wave" and their nights smoking weed, drinking and listening to music, saying "This is Mexico!!! ".

We loved this place! It was a perfect place to be during Semana Santa as well. It was full of families enjoying the river but it wasn’t loud and it wasn’t packed. The lagoon/ river is warm but ok to swim in. Rumor has it that there is one Croc but he likes to hang out on the other side far away from the campers.
The shower and toilet at Chi chow was the best of the lot but were often locked with no one in them. Just ask at the restaurant for the key.
The walk over the barra is lovely - we took a few bags with us and picked up some garbage while we were out.
Fruit and veg options in town are very very limited to either shop before coming or make due with what’s available. There’s no ATM in town either.
Price is 100MX per person.
After everyone left after the Easter week it was amazingly quiet and peaceful here. Maybe the price goes down too? Not sure.

Nice spot with grass which was nice to take a break from sand everywhere all the time! The facilities need a little love! Shower is moldy and as other reviews no door which is no big deal.. toilets are very basic it’s a hover type of thing ! Lovely spot, nice surf .. not very Mexican , definitely was created for surfers/tourists

Great location, the best! Toilets not so clean and showers has no door and it's quiet salt water.
The place need some love, but as you camp on nature front of the river it's fine.
Chi Cho asked 70p.p but we said 50p.p is ok for us as we read reviews so he made it 50p.p. I guess he's trying to increase the price.

We stayed here for 10 days in a cabaña. They charged 300 pesos a night (there were 3beds in the cabaña, one was kingsized). shower and toilet in there. No kitchen inside, but some other cabañas have. We were eating everyday at chi cho’s restaurant, the food is pricy but very good. They are closed on Mondays.

One of my favourite camp sites so far, beautiful location at the river mouth, nice palapas, great shade, still 50p/person.

Not scetchy imo, there are a lot of people staying here for months. You can also rent cheap cabañas starting from 200p/night, right at the beach.

Restaurant is ok, but better/cheaper ones down the beach.

Only downside: bathrooms: toilets without lock and showers with salty water. but still an amazing spot!

Other:
The two spots further up the road didnt really exist btw, at least not in low season. Surf‘s definitely not for beginners. Wifi Card available still, but check your connection before you buy a big one - for me it didnt really work at all.

Mellow spot with lots of surfers/travelers around camping and in cabanas. Bit open and exposed, and we got a slightly sketchy vibe, but met lots of people camped there for weeks who had nothing but good things to say. Great surf, but we met two people who had several boards stolen there, so keep an eye on your stuff! 100 pesos/night, includes basic bathrooms and showers. Pro tip - the bathroom for the restaurant actually has a door and toilet seat, ask at the restaurant for the key!

100 pesos per night, great spot next to the Nexpa River. Toilets and shower not the best, but ok. Salty water unfortunately 😓. You can park next to one of the Palapas that all have 110v hookups.

Still 50MP/pp with electricity (100 if you need AC). Basic toilets, bring your TP. Definitely a cool spot to overnight, right next to the river and the beach. There is a sink where you can do your dishes. Nice shade, very relaxed place even during the weekends. Telcel signal, there is a small tienda like 100m away where they sell wifi cards.

A nice, relaxed and shady spot with feel-good atmosphere. we enjoyed the fish with rice and salad at the restaurant. There is a little grocery shop close by. 50.- pesos p/p. open all year round.

We were going to park far down on the beach, but the locals weren’t sure of banditos so we parked next to Chi Chos restaurant. The town itself is very safe. A surfer beach village with gringos and locals. By the restaurant is quiet and you can park right on the beach. Owners are really nice people. We parked farther down the beach during the day to enjoy swimming and kayaking.

Chi Chos was awesome! We fell in love with this place right off the bat. It was clear that this is a place you stay at for a while- and not just a quick pit stop. It has full hookups and plenty of shade, and the Surf was all time on a SSW swell. The people were so kind, and most folks were parked up there for weeks, not days. Not a perfect swimming beach as the sand is either rocky or full of current, or both. But that Surf tho...

Another place I found by accident when looking for the Nexpa Surf Hotel.
Saw it but too many foreigners in the parking lot so decided to continue driving on the dirt road until I hit a dead end on the beach at Chi Chos. The property is owned by a family (speaks some English) and part is on the Pacific beach and part on the Rio Nexpa. This place is actually located in Barra de Nexpa. I set up my tent under a big palapa facing the river; there are cabanas on the beach side but quite a few people there (mostly surfers). The river side was definitely more secluded & less noisy & much prettier than the beach. Many people came here on Saturday and swam with their kids in the river as the beach side is best for surfing rather than swimming. There is a restaurant as well as bathrooms and showers & non-potable water.
Campsites 50 pesos/night and the owner did connect a light & electricity at my palapa so I gave him another 50 pesos a night. Since the time change and it gets dark here before 7:00pm it's nice not to have to sit in the tent or outside with a portable light for several hours. It is quite windy here at night (guess that's why the surfing is so good here) so not has humid as other places I've been. There is always a nice breeze all night. There are several stores in the area that sell everything from ice to water to groceries. Nearest Pemex is in Caleta de Campos (short distance).
This place is located on a dirt road past Nexpa Surf Hotel to continue on a dirt road where you’ll see the river & beach. Best for tents, campers & small RVs.

Really nice campground, there is some electricity to plug in our camper. The owner is super friendly and helpful. We would stay here again we paid 50 pesos per person/night

This not the real location : Chichos and the camping are at the end of the road. At the beginning of the road there are also cabanas and parkinglot but with less good accomodation

A series of houses for rent and camping as well right in front of an awesome wave. Chi Cho is really nice, helpful, and speaks English. They also run a restaurant on site. The food is good but a bit pricy. Some houses have kitchens and bathrooms. Others just have a bedroom. 100 to 400 pesos per night depending on the house you get.

Loved Nexpa. Camping is 50 pesos per person. Chi Cho has bungalows for cheap too. The main question when your asking around for a place to stay is how long. This is a popular place to land and stay for weeks or months. Everywhere has a daily rate, and cheaper per day if you stay for a whole week, and even cheaper for a month. We got a bungalow for 200 per night, which was 300 per night if you were there just a few days. Amazing view of the surf from the second floor of our place. Had our own bathroom and gas stove. Did leak pretty bad during a big two day tropical storm, but was way better to be in there then our truck for those two days. Chi Cho is really nice, and speaks great English. Restaurant is good, but on the pricy side. Large portions. Worth it.

Great spot to park your van, just in front of a nice palapa to hang your hammock. One of the closest campground to the wave. 40 pesos per person after negotiation.

Camping next to Chi Cho's Restaurant right on the beach. Palapa, no hookups, clean bathrooms, cold shower, no wifi. Whiffs of sewage every so often. Tiny surfer village seemed like a nice spot to stay for a few days.
