The sign at the entrance said
"Permit Required
Contact Blue Mountain Lake Office for Permit Application Monday-Friday 9 am - 4 pm" with no phone number given. We got there at 5.30 on a Saturday, so we took a chance and parked for the night. Sheriff drive by about 30 minutes later but didn't stop. The bathroom now is a porta potty. One of the locals told us that there use to be pit toilets in a building but now it's gone. There are only three spots, maybe four that could accommodate our 24 foot van. There was no trash, but everything was beat up pretty badly. Unless you have a boat, I don't see why you would come here. One bar of Verizon that comes and goes through the evening.
FREE! Primitive camping, just fill out a permit with Blue Mountain Lake. Most spots are not level but, the road in is paved and can fit a big rig if you’re comfortable enough.
Quite busy during the warmer months with boaters blocking/using the sites until mid-afternoon but, we basically had the campground to ourselves after 5 pm.
Would highly recommend coming in after 3 pm during fishing season if you’re looking to stay the night because it is a popular boat launch!
Report Check-InNice and quiet spot for free. Bathrooms were locked when I got here though. There were a few other people here and each space had a campfire and table. Beautiful views
Report Check-InThis is a public feee campground. It has 10 spots, not water or electricity. Has plenty of room for campers or tents. Has decent bathrooms.
Report Check-InLake is still very high, no camping below the campground. Busy boat launch. Not suitable for big rigs.
Report Check-InThis place is really peaceful!
I came in to find the legit camp spots all pretty full, but parked by the lake and listened to water connecting with shore all night. It was pretty nice! I like it here!
Nice remote place! Lake was flooded. Arrived late and left early so didn’t get to enjoy scenery as much as would have liked to!
