Duck’s Pond - Burnt Rossman State Forest | Informal Campsite

What a magical spot! Spent two nights here, saw our first snow of the season and it was SO beautiful and peaceful. This site has beautiful views of the surrounding forest and wetland. Only 2 cars drove by on our second day, both seemed to be in hunting attire.
There’s a second site within view of this one, but you’d need high clearance to get over the dip in the road that leads to it.
Had 1-2 bars Verizon service most of the time, enough for a text or call and sometimes internet.

We came from the north via Rossman Hill Rd. and then Burnt Hill Rd. and had no problems in our 2wd Chevy express (it’s well maintained gravel).

Duck's Pond campsite, it's an old standby for me easy to access off of i-88 through cobleskill. campsite's a little overgrown, the pawn is really dried up not that you can drink it anyway. nearest water sauce would be looking glass but you have to filter it. it's a nice flat spot with full solar all day long.

really lovely secluded campsite on state park land surrounded by fields and almost completely forested properties. The site closest to the road had a firepit and clear flat areas to pitch a tent. the surrounding area was filled with berry bushes and wild flowers! Only one car drove by between the afternoon to the next morning. there is a small shady hiking trail if you follow the treadmarks into the forest at the end of the meadow!

we approached from the north end of burnt Hill road (on a subaru outback) and found the road super rocky and had to drive very slowly. I would recommend approaching from the south end of burnt hill road instead as it is gravelled and more maintained.

it really is a nice little spot, secluded but close enough to Middleburg or even cobleskill. Nice easy drive on gravel roads if you come in from the north. not a lot of visitors or people driving by.

2 cars passed throughout my night, quiet with a nice stream next to it. Plenty of hiking trails around.

As described. Quiet spot. A few cars pass by each day. Road was good, no issues in my extended length Ford Transit. No mud or snow currently though. Came in from Cobleskill on Burnt Hill Road.

As described two disersed campsites with firerings. Nothing else around, very secluded. We took Burnt Hill Road from the north and turned into Duck Pond Road after 0.5mi. That way the campsites were easy to access in our 2wd Sprinter.
Don't take the Huckleberry Kingdom Road, because it's a dead end. Our GPS didn't show that, so we tried it there first.

it's actually Duck Pond, not Tucks. Couple dispersed sites down gravel roads. Pond is not potable, high amount of tanning and almost clogged my filter. Frogs are very loud. campsite closest to the woods had an access trail to the NY Long Path.

Edit: approach from the north via the same road is definitely the way to go for low clearance, non 4x4 vehicles.

Two free marked dispersed campsites near a small pond. No one else around, good stargazing. Approach from the southeast via burnt hill road requires some clearance, 4x4 was nice but probably not necessary. Made it no problem in our 4x4 sprinter. Occasional 3G on Verizon. Would not recommend for anything larger than a van.
