Point Arena along Lighthouse Road is designated as a Day Use Area and is open from one half hour before sunrise to one half hour after sunset.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
There are in fact “No Camping” signs posted in multiple spots along this stretch. When I stayed here last year there were no signs, so I had to see for myself if it was truly closed to camping. It’s BLM land, so maybe it could be argued, but the signs are there. Sigh.
Report Check-InAs described. No no-camping signs. Right next to the cliff. Good Verizon and t-mobile service. Saw a few campers in the other spots.
Report Check-InNice small spot on the ocean side of the road. Stayed one Saturday night. No one bothered me and there are no prohibitory signs. Some other campers at other sites along the road. Lovely sounds of the ocean. Visit the lighthouse and support the area.
Report Check-InAbsolutely stunning spot to enjoy sunset and the dramatic coast. Quiet night but for the ocean waves. Gold stars for a portaloo nearby. Leave it more beautiful than you found it
Report Check-InStayed 2 nights. Verizon service cuts in and out. Beautiful and quite at night with an excepts on a few cars passing through.
Report Check-InGreat ocean view on a cliff and quiet! Next to the road but able to fit 2 camper vans. Only had one car pass overnight. We walked to the end of the road to see sunset by the lighthouse. It was pretty windy when we were there. One port-a-potty a short walk up the road.
Report Check-InGot here for the sun set. It was a great place!! Several pullouts to park at. Good views of the lighthouse and the ocean. Very quit.
Report Check-InAmazing views! No no camping signs anywhere. Lots of turnouts to choose from. Ok cell service.
Report Check-InFantastic spot! The road is a narrow dead end, so there’s not much through traffic. We arrived around 4pm and there were still some folks parked in the neighboring lot to watch the sunset. After 6 there were just some cars going back and forth to the lighthouse and the other buildings, and that stopped by 10 so we were unbothered. Bonus portapotty right across the road through an unlocked gate! We felt comfortable here given the amount of other vans and camping vehicles we saw on the road in. The ocean sounds, gorgeous views, and feelings of safety were unbeatable. Highly recommend!
Report Check-InDecent spot for a night. Just a pull off with a view. Mice will try to enter your home.
Report Check-InPulled in a spot about a quarter mile from the lighthouse entry. No forbidden parking sign. Mostly level. very close to the sound of the ocean.
Report Check-InArrived past 9 pm and found a spot next to another camper van. Busy road tonight but quiet and beautiful. Next day, Saturday, was heavy traffic, lots of lighthouse visitors and whale watchers. Left at 9am.
Report Check-InAs described beautiful area, the AT&T cell service was reliable and super handy. Not many overnighters here, we were alone on a Friday night. We saw 2 RVs on the pullout closest to the lighthouse. This is apparently a county road on BLM land that is maintained jointly with the lighthouse. Ground can be a bit unlevel in parking (can bottom out if not careful) but easy to angle your parking to level out. Portopotty at lighthouse entrance was open. Rollerville Cafe just down lighthouse rd was great for breakfast. Check out the lighthouse gift shop to support them.
Report Check-InIncredibly Beautiful. Perfect little turnout on the Oceanside. portapotties about 5 min walk in either direction. Surprisingly busy road (seems to be people living at the lighthouse coming/leaving)
Report Check-InGreat AT&T service. Outhouse at the end of the road is closed off but there is another closer in that is still open.
Report Check-InSuch a wide open and beautiful sky to watch the sunrise/sunset. It’s really a wonderful place to camp with no traffic at night. I enjoyed relaxing in the sun and watching the sea lions doing the same thing! I would definitely come back to stay on this road again.
Report Check-InNice pull out off of light house road. This road is not busy at all so don’t worry about cars. You are on the edge of a cliff over looking the beautiful wild sea. We had a eagle swoop right across us. Stayed 2 nights un bothered. Area is clean and beautiful so please it that way or better!
Stay wild,
Vanwives + Bella & Izzy
