A few parking spaces by boat ramp. Beautiful view of the Connecticut River. Very dark and secluded at night. Had the place to myself.
In the morning, crew team came down for practice and a few students came down for a nature class. There are a bunch of picnic tables and entrance to rail trail path.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
got moved on by cops, maybe if we had parked a little more hidden we could have gotten away with it but cops seem to check in regularly. they said the state park doesn't want people staying there. they moved us on a 1 minute drive to a public park.
Report Check-InPerfect place for one night ! I have a 24 foot Mercedes and my friend an Alto RV and we had a nice set-up on the river side. Very quiet ! Few people walking by with their dog and that’s it! Picnic table and nice place to enjoy !
Report Check-InStayed overnight with no issues. Not a knock from anyone including the police. Woke up to a beautiful sunrise. Note there are two parking areas. The lower one is closer to the river and more discreet, though I missed it entirely arriving at night. There is a paved road leading down to it at the end of the upper lot closest to the entrance from the main road (furthest away from the pedestrian/cyclist bridge). There are porta potties and a bike fixing station.
Report Check-InDon’t stay here. Cop knock at 1am. They know about it, and overnights are not allowed in MA state parks. The jig is up.
Report Check-InI parked overnight down by the river where people bring their canoes into the water. There are a few picnic tables and it’s very peaceful. There was no one there at night, only one car rolled up early in the morning to canoe. Felt very safe here.
Report Check-InNice spot by the river. Pit toilets. Got a cop knock early evening. Said he was checking to be sure everything was ok and would let the night shift know not to bother me.
Report Check-InThere are two parking lots: one large lot by the highway and one small lot by the river. Both are decently quiet but the lot by the river is definitely more secluded, quiet, and dark. There’s a nice bike/pedestrian trail that goes over the river and on for miles. It’s busy during the day (everyone we met was really nice!) but quiet at night, even on a Saturday.
Report Check-InGreat little spot near the highway. We parked up around 7:30PM with only one car who was heading out for the night. A little noisy since it’s near the bridge but nothing crazy. The cops woke us let us know we were trespassing but didn’t kick us out. He was super nice and said there were some homeless people living under the bridge but he said they were harmless. Around 3AM we hear a woman singing/yelling on the bike trail which kind of freaked us out but no one came around.
Woke up on the water to a beautiful quiet sunrise then drove down Damon Road to the Rowing Club access and jumped in the river. It’s SO nice and has a great beach, floating dock, and some people were there at 5AM with us on their boat and swimming.
I recommend if you’re okay with a little mystery throughout the night followed by a refreshing morning swim.
Report Check-InWe stayed one night in our 26' Fleetwood Jamboree. My kids rode their bikes around the lot. We stayed from
6:30 pm to 9:45 am and no one even looked at us. We walked down the the CT River too.
