This dispersed camping is permanently closing in a couple of weeks from 4/30/23. Just talked to a Park Ranger who gave everyone a heads up.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Definitely closed! You can still drive through the area but there is a large sign saying not camping or campfires. The city decided to expand the camping/campfire perimeter to prevent human caused wildfires.
FR128 washboard road down the road is still open
Report Check-InClosed to camping. Signs posted. https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd1104836.pdf
Report Check-InThis place is permanently closing in a couple of weeks from 4/30. Park Ranger came by to warn everyone. Just a heads up.
Report Check-InI got a serious allergy reaction on the second day. I think it’s the pollens from the juniper trees. There are more open area with less juniper trees East from here.
Report Check-InPretty much one of the best spot in the area for disperse camping. Be prepared for freezing night time temperatures, ultra low humidity, and very high UV.
Report Check-InYes is a great place to stay. See descriptions of the other. There is no more to say
Report Check-InJust outside Walnut Canyon National Monument, no amenities. Peaceful and quiet, interstate is a few miles away and that noise is not very noticeable
Report Check-InBeautiful forest campground. Right next to the walnut canyon national monument!! No amenities, only boondocking. Pretty busy but easy to find a place away from others if you want. Absolutely need a high clearance or 4wd to get in to the best campsites. even right off the road many were not accessible for my minivan. I stayed 3 days and nights and didn't want to leave.
Report Check-Ingorgeous free campsites. a lot of people taking advantage of it also on this beautiful weekend. I just left camp Verde and temps in the 90s and got here an hour later in the 70s!! gorgeous pines. great cell signal with cricket. I'm my minivan there weren't many options that weren't already occupied that I could actually get into but I did find one left. ☺️
Report Check-InEasy access from I-40. About 2 miles down a paved road, then I went in .3 miles. Tons of spots, depending on where you want to be.
I am getting 3 out of 4 bars on Verizon.
Cows grazing in the evenings, getting real close. So cool.
Only about 15 minutes to Planet Fitness, if you need to shower. Plus right next to it is RV Country-AZ. Propane and repairs and service, plus parts.
Many nice spots, seems very popular.. AT&T= 1 bar
Some spots are dirty. When wet could be muddy.
Nice area and views of Humphreys Peak in the distance. Take the spurs for even more options. Good Verizon signal
Report Check-InI like this area for camping. Quite a lot of good flat spots. I get one bar reception on Verizon.
Report Check-Innice large area. 1-2 bars on Verizon and Sprint/T-mobile each. not enough to stream anything. nice and quiet!
Report Check-InTons of spots and fire rings off of main road. Next to Walnut Canyon National Monument and 15 minutes from Flagstaff.
Report Check-InBeaucoup d emplacements de bivouac sur cette route autant pour vr que pour 4x4. feux possibles. Endroit très agréable et tranquille
