Description

Cottages and campsite with an amazing view overlooking both Lake Nakuru and Elementaita. Built in 2019, includes (2) geothermal heated saunas. We slept well in a cottage made in the traditional way of Masai. Also, we enjoyed trekking around there. Self-catering, so bring all your own food and drinks (drinking water is always available). Contact the owner, Kazuya in advance for directions. +254-0722-370718 or [email protected]

An awesome experience. It's just forth the hill before having the sauna. A really nice dinner made from Kaz.

price for camping 1000 and dinner 1200, totally worth.

1000KSH pppn. No Wi-Fi, the owner is not cooking food anymore, no running water, zhot or cold. Drinking water from jugs and rain water for washing. The shed that is set aside for campers is extremely loud in the wind. The three us did not sleep well. The design of the property is unique and interesting. Borderlands style, trap house chiq. The sauna is cool to try. Owner is a weird guy.

In my opinion this campsite is not worth the price of admission, but with that said I’m glad that I went to check it out for myself.

We’re currently cycling on the bikepacking.com Kenyan odyssey.
Earth camp was highly recommended, and did not disappoint.
Amazing location with spectacular views.
The natural steam saunas were just what we needed after a day on the bikes.
Kaz, a very friendly guy look after us well. The food he prepared was delicious.
We stayed an extra day.😊

The earth camp is a truly awesome and very welcoming place! I stayed here for 3 nights and I can honestly say Kaz (Owner & Builder of Earth Camp) has created a once in a lifetime experience for me! What makes this place a must visit:

> Kaz is a very friendly guy, getting support from very friendly staff. They truly care about you!
> Kaz is an AMAZING cook and will makes the stay unique culinary experience.
> The self build cottages provide a great experience sleeping very comfortable with great view in complete silence.
> There is a sauna! In fact there are two, where you can relax natural vulcano heating. Get clean and wash!
> This place is truly suistanable and goes hand hand with nature, using only natural resources fitting into a natural environment!
> Again, the view is breathtaking!

Definitely come here again!

We’re a bit less enthusiastic as the reviews below. The owner is really friendly and makes you feel welcome, but we missed a bit of comfort.

There’s no shower and only a pit toilet in a small hut. The sauna was nice, but it is just a plastic hut with hot air with some fungus growing in there. It’s not very clean.
The road up here is pretty bad.

We stayed one night.

Kaz has created a wonderful space on top of the world. Breathtaking views, two (soon three!) natural steam saunas, eco and sustainability friendly and truly delicious food. Earth camp is still growing, with
a bar area and additional camping facilities to come. Currently there is good camping space, plus two wonderful cottages built in traditional style.

Would advise to contact Kaz before going as it is remote and without nearby facilities.

Excellent hospitality and we very much enjoyed our stay, the natural steam saunas, the views and being able to relax here.
We came by bicycle, but I would recommend using a mountain bike to arrive if you plan to do the same - the roads in and out are a little on the rocky side and not suited to touring bikes. It'd be best to call Kazuya perhaps a day before you plan to arrive to make all necessary arrangements - he is incredibly friendly and helpful but unfortunately for us as we didn't call in advance he could not offer any of the tasty looking Japanese cuisine featured in some of the photos here. Next time!

We camped as a family in the sheltered area next to the lounge cum dining area with fantastic views. Kazuya san also offers fusion Japanese Kenyan food at very affordable prices and that are amazingly yummy. The walks around are interesting. This place is a must after every safari: the natural steam saunas offer total relaxation and heal the body. We loved it so much that we are planning to go back at the soonest. it's a 5-star for hospitality and back to nature

You cannot help but get swept up in Kazuya’s enthusiasm for the camp and his eco outlook on life - practising what others preach!

Currently the only real RTT option is in the carpark area with views of the hills which is absolutely fine, as long as no other cars are there. However he is working on flattening an area and you will certainly then feel part of the Rift Valley landscape. Ground tents can pitch up in the rustic restaurant area which has a roof but not yet been fitted out and will wake up to those views whilst being sheltered from the wind.

The two spas were fun, we had a couple each day and fitted two people fine.

The long drops are clean and you use the spa as a “bathing” facility.

Great signage ... once off the tar don’t follow maps.me /google as it doesn’t have the village’s new road but look out for the hand made directional signage.

There is not much to add from the previous review, we can definately recommend this place, the steam sauna is awesome! The owner Kazuya is very friendly and helpful, he cooked a delicious dinner for us.

Cottages and campsite with an amazing view overlooking the both Lake Nakuru and Elementaita. It's under construction and currently one cottage and campsite is available. They will be fully opened by December 2019.
Don't miss their 100% natural steam sauna using direct fumes of volcano steam vent from the ground. That's excellent! We slept well in a cottage made in the traditional way of Masai. Also, we enjoyed trekking around there. You should bring food and drinks if you plan to go there before December 2019.
