PLACE IS CLOSED (November 2022)
Nice and quiet place adjacent to the parking lot of the cave. We just paid the entrance to the cave (100 Pesos per person), which is illuminated beautifully. A very friendly family runs the ticket counter, where you might purchase some drinks and snacks. They close the gate at 5:30AM and opens it at 8:00AM. There was a guard in the night, partially.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
place is closed, i went there at 3 p.m. but the gate was locked. i was waiting a bit in front of the gate but then i left place. on my way back to the main road i met some locals and i asked for rhe place, but thay told me it is closed since pandemia time.
Report Check-InWe arrived when the gates were closed. we set the camp outside. Police came to tell us that it would be more safe in the village. We decided to stay. Around 11 pm, a man searching for buddies to party came. This place is a place people used to meet at night for locals who want to party, that is what we understood. We finally moved to the village.
Report Check-InAs described. They wanted 100p for camping inside gate, entrance fee still 100pp. Outside the gate it was free. In the evening when gate was closed two local hunters came with guns. We heard some shots but stayed, it was otherwise a very quiet night.
Report Check-Inwere an interesting visit. Slept outside of the gate, alone, quiet, lot of bats in the evening. cave is open everyday after 9.30 am, even on mondays
Report Check-InWe asked the guy at the taquilla if we could visit the grutas and sleep there (it was 4pm). He didn't want to let us stay because he didn't knew if his boss would let us stay... So we didn't stay, even to visit the grutas.
Report Check-InVery shady and flat park area with playset and some buildings, bathrooms with running water and flush toliets close by. accommodating ticket booth attendant/cave tour guide allowed us to camp inside the grounds for the night and left bathroom open for us. also kindly offered room inside a building with fan and showed us how to undo some of the barb wire near locked entrance to get out in morning if we didnt want to wait for him to come open up at 10am next day. very nice! quiet, had it to our selves. theres a great little camping spot right next to playground to pitch a tent and hang a hammack, complete with fire pit. quiet at night except one of the 4 friendly dogs that hang out there started barking at something for a little bit in the middle of the night. you can park a rig overnight outside the gate to the entrance, closes at 5. quiet road with trees, plenty of room. or ask to park in the lot before closes up for the day. caves are 100 mx pesos/person. didnt charge anything to camp.
Report Check-InArrived after the gates were closed for the night, so decided to park to the side of the road on the bike path. We are fully self contained. It was a full moon so the sky was well lit. The gates weren’t open until 10 am on the Saturday morning. After paying the entrance fee the kind gentleman offered us headlights and proceeded to give us a guided tour. Well worth the time spent.
Report Check-InNice guy running the place let us stay overnight, left the bathrooms open and even offered to open one of the buildings in case we wanted to sleep or lay a hammock inside. He locked the gate and came back around 8:30 am to open up
Report Check-InAsked and attendant said to park outside gate for the night! Free, on bike path beside road at gate! Will do the caves in the morning, arrived around 5 in the afternoon, little town up the road for supplies, food, beer etc!
Report Check-InGuards were very reluctant to let us stay here, so we finally agreed to camp just outside of the fence. Quiet, no facilities (once the gate is locked), lots of bats coming out at dusk!
Report Check-InVery nice people, but recommended not to stay here since there has been some trouble in the last months. They said I could stay but they would not recommend. Maybe because I was alone. Great caves!
Report Check-Invisited the caves- really cool! on our way to Uxmal. paid 100 pesos adult and 50 a kid
