Pristine spot along the costal route. Not to be missed. Run by Canadians and it's beautiful. Can recommend.

Report Check-In

Teresa and Marc are very welcoming. A place to spend a holiday 😀. Thanks for the great stay!!

Report Check-In

Great campground! Right on a sandy beach. Bathrooms and campground very clean. Great spot to stay. Hot showers!

Report Check-In

Fantastic place. Great place, room for 3 van/ campers with palapas and cement pad right in front of the beach. 3 Rv site closer to back end but still with view of ocean. Smaller park which is great as much friendlier people. The whole place is surrounded by lush tropical garden and sitting areas. 2 shower/ bathrooms. Also 2 rooms to rent. Paid 200 night for spot up front.Next door restaurant is great and has a pool you can use for cost of a beer. Fantastic host/ owner Mark. so helpful and informative. One of my favorite places in 3 months of traveling around Mexico!

Report Check-In

beautiful camping / RV / BnB spot on the beach .. great spot for surfing, fishing, relaxing ...

Report Check-In

What can we say: it is just amazing! Very clean, so close to the ocean, pallapas on each side, we highly recommend these spot!

Report Check-In

It‘s a wonderful place, next to the ocean. Very friendly staff, all so clean. We can highly recommend this place!

Report Check-In

Established campground with proper camping spots, showers, electricity palapas…. Right on the beach. 1 person 200 pesos/ night without electricity.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot right on the beach
Immaculately cared for with beautiful pads and palapas
We are 37 feet and barely squeezed in… buy Mark the owner accommodated us.
Highly recommended

Report Check-In

The scenery is breathtaking. Come in from the Cuota, not the Libre highway. it will get you here, but up a nasty narrow cobblestone street.

Report Check-In

Very sweet spot on the ocean. Excellent owner and staff, and everyone just seems very content to be here. Definitely on our return list!

Report Check-In

What a gem! everybody there (staff and campers are super friendly. The view is absolutely ace👌 showers were basic bit clean and the cold water wasn't too cold and was perfectly refreshing with the hot weather. The beach itself was sandy all the way out. The cabanas provide an amazing view of the sunset, especially whilst chilling in the hammock. Still no WIFI, but everything else made up for it.
sanitary dump was provided at our site (along the RHS wall). We paid 200 for 2 people in our van with no electricity, I think it's 250 with electricity. I didn't see a water point at our site, but it's probably available on others.
Great spot! really recommend it!

Report Check-In

Amazing Place! Highly recommend.
Full hookups. Our rig is 30’ and can’t imagine much longer would fit.
Beautiful and well cared for. Mark and his small team are genuine and kind, easy to work with and super laid back. Palapas, beach access, pool nextdoor on a row of restaurants with Tienda a block up the street. Can’t wait to go back!

Report Check-In

Very chill place. Campsites are equipped with their own palapas, it’s super nice. Easy access to the beach, hammocks with ocean view, laundry available for 50mxp (wash only/line dry). Paid 250mxp/night for dry camping. Recommended
Restaurants available next door

Report Check-In

We loved this campsite! Super cute and the set up is awesome. Mark and other long time campers made us feel welcomed right away. Nice sunset view from the camping and there's access straight to the beach. We had the whole beach to ourselves when we were there and you can walk for miles without seeing a single soul.

Report Check-In

Wifi coming soon. We did not see any sani dump capability, but maybe it's only in some sites.

Report Check-In

Wonderful place, highly recommended. Clean, friendly, beautiful, gorgeous beach, tiny fishing town, super laid back vibe. 300 for 30 amp, 250 for 15 amp. Spaces would be tricky to get anything very big into. If your rig is large, I would double check before coming. This place does fill up, so you may want to confirm availability.

Report Check-In

Nice place close to the beach with a super nice owner. Stopped here on our way south. Just so you know the beach is small in the rainy season and start to become bigger and the sea more calm by the end of November.

Report Check-In

Hi Everyone it's Mark
I'm so sorry to hear about Chenaka nipping you , the storm and rain caused her to have anxiety and when you entered quickly she reacted. She doesn't normally react this way and again we apologize.
I will be in La Barrita this Tuesday the twenty fifth and can't wait to greet you and meet you.. Safe travels. 🥂 Cheers

Report Check-In

This is a very beautiful campsite right by the sea with very nice clean bathrooms. Theresa is very nice and helpful too. The only things are, if you’re in a tent there is no place with a waterproof roof so if it rains it’s a problem. In heavy rain the ground also flooded. And there is a dog who is aggressive, it bit me on my arm as I first entered, so be careful as you go in.

Report Check-In

Such a nice campground! Teresa is so friendly and can speak a little bit of English. We had the campground for ourselves.
250 pesos for our truck camper with no electricity, it was 50 more for electricity.
You also can dump here.
We could do our laundry for 50 pesos.
Really enjoyed the calm and the beauty of this place. And the hammocks :D

Report Check-In

Hi there, this is Lorraine and Mark the owners of the campsite. Due to some confusion with WIFI we want to clarify; WIFI is not included, although there is reasonable Telcel service. We once had a tower through a private service company, the tower collapsed and now we go through Telcel and do not have unlimited data. For 50 pesos a day we could offer limited data through our Telcel router to limited people. Best to make sure your data is topped up before arriving, there is a local who can help you out with that, but he is not always available. For more information on pricing please view our webpage www.labarritavacations.com Thank you for all your kind comments and we hope that your travels are insightful and pleasurable.

Add another "Yes, believe the reviews, this place is great!"

Report Check-In

Very good place with everything, right on the water. We felt very comfortable. Lorraine and Mark are very nice and helpful

Report Check-In

Believe the hype! Amazing spot. Plenty of space to spread out at your site with palapas at each one and beachfront lounge areas. A few restaurants nearby with cheap food and only a 20 minute drive to stores if you need more supplies on an extended stay. We paid 200 pesos a night for a week with an SUV, a tent, two people, and a dog.

Report Check-In

Count us as one more big thumbs up. Lorraine recommended the restaurant next door Karima which in addition to good cooking has a pool. 350 pesos for two in a van with power (15 amp household plugs as well as 30 amp RV plugs.) also dump stations. There is no reason not to stop here and every reason to drop by.

Report Check-In

This is a RV - Tenting campground. It is very low key and has a great feeling. The owners are Canadian, they are very friendly and supportive. The facility is secure and has washrooms and showers. There are many seafood restaurants close at hand. There is a great beach right out front.

Report Check-In

Loved this place. Came for 1 night, stayed for 3! Mark and Lorraine were great hosts. 200Ps/night for 2 persons in a car camper, no hookup.

Report Check-In

Just perfect! we were passing by and stopped for one night but we loved and stayed one more.

Report Check-In

This is a great place for an overnight stop or a longer stay. We have been camping here for a week and it has been a great rest stop. The owners and staff are amazing. There are many sea food restaurants along the beach and the food was good. A couple of restaurants along the highway serving hamburgers and tortillas, all good food. The beach is clean and not to busy. A small out of the way place to stay. Good for small - midsize campers, travellers and tenting. Good showers and washrooms.

Report Check-In

This place and the people who own it are fabulous. I pulled in at about 430 in the afternoon on Christmas day. As I was setting up, my hosts approached me and asked me to join them in their family Christmas dinner. The grounds were nicely appointed and perfectly arranged for enjoying the sunset. Highly recommend!

Report Check-In

Awesome spot with awesome hosts Mark and Lorraine. The campsite is very secure and in a beautiful location with palapas, hammocks and plenty of restaurants on the beach. There is also 2 rooms available.

Report Check-In

We spent 2 nights on Mark and Lorraine their nice located campground. They just arrived from Canada after a 16 month covid break. Some maintenance needs to be done before it's back to the state it was in before. We had a quiet 2 nights. All necessary electricity and bathrooms are still in good health.

Report Check-In

Great place to camp with tents or RVs. There are at least 10 spots available for RVs. This campground is right on the beach with private access to the beach. Nice gazebo on the property to check out the surf and watch sunsets. Water, RV dump, and electricity is available. Clean bathroom with shitter and shower for campers. There are also 2 bedrooms on the property for rent. The Canadian owners weren’t onsite but the nicest caretaker lady named Teresa will open the gate for you when you arrive

Report Check-In

The rest of the reviews are spot on. This place is a little tranquil gem. We came here after a few days of running from a hurricane. We were exhausted and could not have found a better place to chill and recharge. We were the only guests here for our full stay so we were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves. We planned to stay a couple of night but ended up staying nearly 2 weeks. We were able to get washing done as well as truck repairs. It was great to have toilet and shower facilities as well as water for the camper. We were made to feel very welcome. It’s the closest feeling we’ve had to feeling like we were home. Will definitely visit again on our way back down the Pan American. The sunsets are to die for 🥰 We absolutely love this place!

Report Check-In

Nice campground, clean bathroom and a super nice host. Seems to be good fishing. Had a great night here.

Report Check-In

We arrived in La Barrita to stay two nights but everyday we extended until we were reluctant to leave after the sixth night because we felt right at home. Mark was an incredible host with an open heart to help the small community in anyway he can and we immediately felt like we found an absolute treasure among iOverlander sites for our simple van. To extend our small living space onto the beach right in front of us and with comfortable relaxation under the palapa was a gift. Deemas, his helper, was all smiles and warmth, and Felix, the next door sobandero, gave us both healing sessions multiple days. Mark gave us fresh fish we saw him catch! Awesome guy and truly memorable experience. A must stop for any overlander.

Report Check-In

As described!! We were the first Overlander in the beginning season and had a warm welcome with Dimas, the caretaker; Mark, the owner arrived at Sunday from Canada; we stayed 7days,paid 200Pesos/night and had the whole campground just for us; we were happy to have the shade of the palapa because at this time of the year it's v.e.r.y hot and wet; we had a good time with these helpful guys and shared some delicious dishes from Karinas and Alexandras kitchen nearby; we highly recommend this place

Report Check-In

The canadien owners had not arrived yet and there was no wifi. Plus, the hurricaine has taken most of the beach. We planned to stay here for a few days, but had been without internet for 4 days and here is something else. My phone didn't tell me that my data had been used up and I thought there was something wrong with the local cells. So, if you phone maps and hotspot quit working you need to stop at a Oxxo and load back up.

Report Check-In

Great place as described. I don't normally stay in RV parks. I don't need hookups and I prefer the peace, tranquility and adventure of boondocking. However I pulled up here to take a look and the place was so nice and Dimas the host was so welcoming and friendly I decided to stay two nights. My sliding door is pulled right up to my palapa right at the beach where I have a hammock and space for my dogs. The place has lovely landscaping, bathroom with toilet and shower, and a washing machine. Heaven!

Report Check-In

We LOVE Mark and Lorraine’s place!! Beautifully maintained campground right on the beach with lots of shaded palapas and hammocks for lounging. Laundry, WiFi, and electric hook ups, plus the water truck, bread truck and fruit truck come frequently. The restaurant next door has a great pool you can use and the best seafood in town. The cooks husband Felix is also a healer if you have aches and pains that need fixing. Great place to post up with a few good books and eat great food with friendly folks!

Report Check-In

Lovely spot. As said, run by fellow Canadians from just a bit North of us actually. beautiful spot. I even caught a fish for dinner tonight.

Report Check-In

We love this place so much we stayed longer than planned. Right on a gorgeous beach in a tiny fishing town with friendly people. The Canadian owners are super nice. The place is clean and manicured. Every site has shade palapas. Washing machine available. Great restaurants nearby. No dogs, which we appreciate. Excellent deep tissue massage available for 200 pesos. Sites are 250 per nite, extra to run AC. Highly recommended.

This place rocks. Believe all f the good reviews as they are spot on. Mark and lorraine are friendly welcome hosts full of local knowledge. A must stay location for any overlander!

Report Check-In

We could stay here for weeks! Fresh seafood, boogie boarding, fresh bread, fruits and veggies delivered at the door or you can go buy what you need in Petatlán, a 20 minutes Combi ride away.

Report Check-In

Man oh man. You really don’t want to miss this place. Affordable ,clean, on the beach, low key, restaurant with pool next door (Felix and Rosa), great Fishing and no bugs !!!
Just north of Acapulco and muy tranquilo. Ok 3G cell reception. A little tight for larger rigs but certainly doable. No big rigs please. We were planning on staying 2 nights and ended up staying 4. Waves are pretty strong so swimming can be tough but again doable

Great stay, great hosts, great location

Report Check-In

Best campground we have found since leaving the states. Highly recommend if you enjoy the beach. Mark and Lorraine our most gracious hosts. They assisted us many times. The bathrooms and showers are spotless. The campsites are big and beautiful. We paid $200MX without electricity and $250MX with electricity. Very hard place to leave, but when we did Lorraine sent us on our way with fresh baked oatmeal cookies. Very lovely people and protectors of the turtles.

Report Check-In

Great camp ground and great hosts, Mark and Lorraine are really nice laid back people.
They are working on the place every day and building a great overland oasis in a beautiful location. Highly recommended stop.

Hi, it's Lorraine from Casa Rayo De sol. the campsite will be closed till November 2nd. Hope this has caused no inconvenience. .

Report Check-In

Wonderful spot, very friendly folks right on a beautiful beach. We came in with car problems and they helped us find a good mechanic. The little blue restaurant up the way is delicious and cheap! About 20-30ps for a meal. Thank you Mark, Loraine and Jorge

Report Check-In

Nice little paradise. Thank you for for your friendliness.

Report Check-In

After a strenuous drive coming down from Morelia it was a treat to hang out here for a couple of days.
From the palapa we even saw whales one morning but they were still far out.

Report Check-In

Just as described. A wonderful place to stay right on the water.

Report Check-In

This lovely spot is all that others have written about it; off the beaten track but walking distance to plenty of restaurants, in the road and on the beach. The water of the Pacific is warm here and the beaches swimmable. Mark and Lorraine are wonderful hosts and continue to make improvements and upgrades to the property. With a camper, one will be attached to 15 amp by electrical extension cords and he same for water. There is a pvc pipe for dumping but it is a slightly challenging angle . . .the cell and Wifi signals are decent and sometimes really good. We are staying for a week - it is hard to beat watching the waves break while reading or napping in a hammock strung under a palapa!

Report Check-In

Really fantastic place! Affordable, accommodating, and tranquillo. Mark and Lorraine will help you with whatever you need including general services and even fishing tours and massages! Highly recommended overland stop.

Report Check-In

it is a little paradise, a fine place for a longer staying!

Report Check-In

Very Nice spot! Friendly owners. Pretty beach good for boogie boarding. Room for 5-6 vans or small RV. New wc and shower. Great wifi but must be close from
House. Do not miss outstanding seafood and fresh oysters at Las Pocitas nearby.

Report Check-In

Wonderful place with Wonderful hosts! Plenty of space for all types of rigs, of any shape and size. The photos do not do this place justice, as you will be shocked upon arrival at its beauty. It’s well setup to host a crowd- but never feels busy. If you need to eat- highly recommend the “blue restaurant” across the highway. 30p for a plate of authentically delicious food. Also/ as I type this, I was just delivered a fresh set of bread buns from Loraine, so kind!!!

Report Check-In

One of my most favourite places.
Amazing friendly welcoming hosts, beautiful beaches and views, restaurants close by, internet access.
Canadian owners Mark and Lorraine are constantly working on improvement, to meet a travellers needs. Campsites plus B&B you can choose how you like to spend the night.
Mark is also a popular skilled fishing guide, specialized in fly fishing.
If you like fishing, he is your guy!

Report Check-In

This place is paradise. Nice clean shower and toilet, concrete pads to sit and watch the Ocean. The owners are very nice and helpful people. The only problem we had was that it's so hard to leave, we wanted to stay forever.

Report Check-In

We arrived with great expectations of a very nice camping spot and fishing available all year round but, it is the off season with sweltering heat and no one around. After a long drive, we invited ourselves in by taking down the rope to the entrance and a couple showed up later in the afternoon. We had a short conversation with the señorita and asked for the wifi code, but it did not work. They stuck around and cared for the park by raking and watering the plants. Nice bathroom with a shower. The description of this place is the same left from the previous campers earlier in the year so we will not mention them again.

Report Check-In

Okay, so, I'm checking in again, but I never left after my first check-in. This place has been so lovely, I have very little motivation to leave. M & L have done a tonne of improvements since my arrival, and the place is looking beautiful.

A quick synopsis of the changes: Fast internet now, 20+ megabit up and down; new Sani-dump is now installed site, Telcel tower with full bars and good 3G, new hammocks and palapas for lounging by the ocean, water tank moved out of view to side of property; beautiful new wood fence installed; loads of new plants on grounds; new concrete patio pads poured for 2 RVs and one small camper van; space cleared for two more RVs on flat (as yet unimproved) spots, and 2 good sized orange "campsite" signs will be installed on the road this week to help guide you in.

Plans for next winter: 4 new air conditioned rooms in middle of the property; 2 or 3 more large RV pads toward the water; metered 30amp electrical and septic at some (or all) of the rv sites.

There is still a pile of rubble from a demolished building to one side, if this isn't cleared this year, it will be next, but it doesn't affect the enjoyment of the property in the slightest. Don't let this deter you.

I should mention, when the fishing is good I have caught rooster fish, sierra, and needle fish right on the beach in front of the property too. And if you're interested in some proper ocean fishing, Mark is an excellent guide. When I went out with him we caught sailfish, and dorado, but he's the go-to guy around here for inshore Rooster fishing, especially if you want to try them on a fly rod. Definitely a thrill!

There's not much going on in la Barrita, so it's a good place to stop and recharge for a bit. Local tiendas and restaurants are excellent and the beach is virtually deserted during the week. When it does fill up, it's mostly locals. You can walk for miles to the north.

Mark and Lorraine have been wonderful hosts and make it very difficult to want to leave. :) They are constantly improving the property, and as they progress, it will become an even bigger slice of heaven on the beach. Well worth your time to stop in for a few days or a month. :)

Report Check-In

I've been staying at Casa Rayo del Sol (@roosterfishing or http://labarritavacations.com) on playa la Barrita in Guerrero for the last week. Having trouble leaving because it's so lovely here. The owners and all of the locals are wonderful, the beach is relatively unused, but beautiful and there are plenty of options for food in the area.

My 32' class A fits in the parking spot without trouble, and they have a temporary 110 v plug that you'll probably need an extension for, but that's easy to access.

The Canadian owners Mark and Lorraine are in the process of making improvements to the already wonderful grounds which will eventually eventually include dedicated rv power for two or three units including camper van and larger motor home, and there's even a tent platform for those traveling light. For those without any accommodation there are also a couple of rooms to rent. The renovations are unobtrusive and though there are still some piles of rubble from a recent demolition, the beautify of the rest of the grounds more than make up for it!

The pool is going to be converted to accommodation, and is empty at the moment, but, hello, the ocean is steps away!

The iOverlander app guides you to the alley, and you only need to travel a half block or so to the entrance.

There's no cell service down here at the moment, and internet access is severely limited so if need connectivity this might not be the right place, but this too is changing and mark hopes to have faster internet in the near future (like the next few weeks). Cell service may be available in the next several months as the tower is already standing, and awaiting activation from the phone company.

Also, Mark is a fishing guide (particularly skilled with Rooster Fish), so if you're looking to get out on the water and throw a line in, this is definite a place to check out!

I've also been trying my hand at fishing right off the beach here. All in all, definitely worth checking out for a low key and enjoyable stop. Be prepared to spend a few days. You won't want to leave! :)

Report Check-In

Casa Rayo De Sol. is a beautiful campsite located off of highway 200. the owners are two Canadians Mark and Lorraine. they were the best hosts you could have, the property is currently under repair and renovation after a hurricane so they let us camp for free for 3 days. they let us use their boogie boards, tools to work on the van, and even picked things up for us when they went in to town, not to mention they were great company. I can't recommend this place enough, has very nice showers and toilets, Wi-Fi on the beach, a plug in if you need for your laptop and the most beautiful stretch of empty beach..

Report Check-In

After a huge day at the mechanic we pulled into casa rayo de sol and mark and lorraine were absolutely wonderful. Yes, the property is currently going through renovations but the location is killer! the beach in front of their property is stunning and the facilities are wonderful. once they get it up and running for the season it will be even better. Mark and Lorraine understood how rough of a day we had and even cooked us dinner and we sat around and had a chat- i wish we could've stayed longer!

Report Check-In

Due to health issues arisen with the original caretaker/family member, we have had to hire and oversee this project from afar. The bathroom was a day late and a dollar short for the set date time of Sept 1st. Perhaps I was misunderstood when I directed you to the family house next door. This is where the bedrooms, bathrooms and alternative camping spots are available, next to the ocean. Don’t be fooled by the hedge.
Mark and I will be returning the end of the month and have the campsite completed in a few weeks, making it available by mid-November. In the meantime, please be aware the house next door has bathrooms and bedrooms available. The driveway and/or the cleaned area up front close to the ocean next to the palapa is a beautiful spot to camp.

Report Check-In

I'm going to have to agree with the last actual overlander. Place looks like it got destroyed by a hurricane, and some new construction is going on. But this at the moment looks like a dump and we would not want to pay to stay here. There is a shower and toilet room newly built, but it's really dirty, and I thought about using the toilet but with nearly no water and sticks in it I didn't want to see if it worked and flush sticks down it. Not sure where the rooms for rent are? Just feels like an empty lot with a sign for overlanders.

Report Check-In

Sorry to hear El Destinia that you had been here and no one was around. We had been in the process of new management, Mark and I are there from November to April, and the alternate months a local family are staying and managing things. We had a wall built at the beach which is completed, as well have been building a banyo for the campsites, it's almost completed, thus the construction going on. The bathroom should be done by Sept 1st at the latest, but there is a bathroom available for use in the meantime. Please knock on the door of the casa, if no one is around, park enjoy the scenery, someone will be by shortly. The same family that have the restaurant at the end of the beach called "Las Pocitas" manage our place for us. Ask for Kari or Betto, or their parents Santiago and Leonor. Someone will be around and happy to help settle you in. At the moment we charge 150 pesos for campers/night, when the bathroom is up and running the charge will be 200 pesos. The rooms are 600 pesos/night. Thanks and happy travels.

Seems completely shut down, nobody around, and construction stopped.... Maybe seasonal?

Mark and Lorraine are currently working on fixing a few spots for overlanders on their property. The beach and the view are beautiful. We parked and camped in the driveway since construction isn't complete yet. Mark and Lorraine are fantastic and friendly hosts. We may have gotten delicious coffee, fresh juice and home made cookies in the morning :) Clean restroom with showers and nice small palapa with tables near the beachfront. Mark also leads fishing trips. 200 MX pesos per night
