Description

Only three kms past the gravel entrance to Punta Tombo Penguin reserve on the RP1 road to Casa Rabo. A conveniently located gravel pit set in a depression on the left hand side of the road. Can get windy here but very quiet and out of sight of any passing traffic. So far not been used by many as there is little rubbish to contend with which is good. Just a convenient overnight stop if you want to go into see the penguins and don't want to travel too far.

Great place to spend the night so that the next day you can enter the Punta Tombo reserve to meet the penguin tree. Great place to use as a shelter from the strong wind. There is no structure, just a safe place that can spend the night. It doesn't get a Claro signal. Starlink yes

Not a nice place, but without wind! Perfecto!!
Nobody can see you, if you do underground camping.

Passamos uma noite aqui. Super tranquilo e silencioso. Ótima proteção contra o vento.

Report Check-In

Very good, calm and windless night for us after the visit to Punta Tombo made the day before at the end of the day (very few tourists).

Nice spot to sleep for 1 night. A big gravel pit hidden from the road. We stayed here with 2 other campervans. The next morning we were the first ones at the pinguïns. Can be very windy so have a look how you park your vehicle.

Report Check-In

An excellent place for overnight parking. The bottom is made of pressed gravel, so you can stand there safely even in pouring rain (in our case). No Carlo signal.

Report Check-In

Very quiet place to stay indeed, when we arrived we built a firepit, over the hills there is a junkyard and lots of dry wood can be found. The place is cozy and creepy at the same time, with some skeletons laying around. Protip: Park your campervan sideways at the far right end, so you have shelter from all sides against the wind if you like to sit outside.

Report Check-In

GREAT spot totally hidden from the road. We used this as an option to stay the night to get to Punta tombo early next morning. Good option if you're self contained.

Perfect wildcamping place. It felt Safe, very quiet and very little vehicles. Not suitable for working since no cell service. Clean ground suitable for workout! Most epic sunset and sunrise, amazing sky and stars at night!
TIP: Go early (arrive at 8AM) to punta tombo and have the best experience. From 10.30 all tourists buses arrived, at least 500 people and it got overcrowded

Report Check-In

we have been there. not visible from the road. nothing here except sunset if cloudy

There were some carcasse's smell in the air and I started to check the site and found out a guanaco's skeleton. More weird was to found out part of the guanaco's paw conpletely well preserved with its skin, fur and nails. Have decided not to stay.

gravel pit next to the road, not visible from the road. Not special but perfect for a night before visiting punta tombo. go early in the morning and be alone with the penguins:) and check the stars at night, its beautifull.

Chegamos aqui e tem uma placa dizendo que está fechado por estar fora de temporada

The quarry is a perfect place for one night before visiting Punta Tombo. Quiet, no rubbish.

Report Check-In

Its easy to find, as already said, nothing supernice but alongside the road, bit hidden and very quite. Not much rubbish at the moment. Perfect location to get up early and visit Punta Tombo.

Report Check-In

the place still there good stop if yu want to go early to pinta tombo

Report Check-In

Very quiet- a deep enough pit that most vehicles will be hidden from the road, and only 1 or 2 passed us all night long. The slope down to the pit will be accessible for most vehicles. Some of the best stars we've ever seen, but still v v v windy down here!!

Report Check-In

nice place hidden from the road.
although protected, the wind can be brutal...

We spent the night here so we can arrive early at the park and enjoy the pingouins! As described, drive down what seems to be an old carry. It gives some wind protection and it’s out of sight from the road.

Report Check-In

Quit and wind shadow- if you came from the park on the right side you can drive down- you don’t need to stay next to the road. Good place for a night.

So I think comment below referencing R7 means Ruta provincial 75 which takes you to the Ruta 1 (both are paved) and then at the gate you hit a good gravel road the final 22 km.

Report Check-In

spent the night here to access Punta Tombi early. no traffic, so quiet and safe to stay for a night as you have to park next to the road.

Report Check-In

better to use the 7 to get from the 3 to here as it's paved and much faster.

Punta tombo now is 400pp, but worth a visit, you can get very close with the penguins, take photos and see more than 1000 together... ( try to make a new point but don't work, but this Mark is 25km to the visit center, only this part is ripio, gravel...)

Report Check-In

after visiting the park we left punta tombo park because they didn't allow us overnight parking. so we followed the link down here and where very happy about this spot for a quiet overnight stay.
