Description

Starting point for park hikes (guide mandatory). See picture for list of hikes - $40pp. We didn't hike but the interpretive center has great info about the plants, animals, and history of the park. Worth a stop. And the drive through the park is stunning (And free).

Interpretation center doesn't exist anymore. You can only access to the coffee shop. The rest you have to pay, even to see the monkeys on the trees near the entry...
People where very not welcoming.
The view is beautiful.

For a 1.5h hike, we would have had to pay 100,-pp Park fee and 30,- for the guide. Any hike only possible with passport and negative Covid test, which you get outside of the park. The visitor centre is nice for a brake though.

Report Check-In

The visitor center is open . You can have breakfast or burgers or ciabatta. Even soup . Walks can be paid here by creditcard
The canopy walk is done at 8am and 10 am and then twice after 14:00 .

We did camp here with RTT. They are still building .

Report Check-In

We could not visit the information center because even for the center you need a negative covid test. Being vaccinated and a negative test one week old is not sufficient. The reception itself was very unfriendly an not helpful at all. We had to find out ourselves where to get a rapid test. So we left without even a glimpse of the center.

Starting point for hikes and canopy tour with an informative center about the park. Friendly staff and free wifi at reception but starting the chimp tracking is a bit messy, either here or Gisakura, nobody seems to know until late afternoon the day before as the chimps move around ofcourse but we waited for 2 hours before a clear answer where to start the next morning at 6AM. It ended up with 6 hrs tough tracking to have a glimpse so this is NOT the place, better to go to Gisekura where a much larger group resides in a much smaller area. Even though this is a starting point, you still need your own car to drive to the area to start the walk. Kiosk with meals for Rwf3000 and sodas/beers available.
