Big campground with mixed close or widely spaced camp spots. Stayed in spot #11 on the first night and it was great. On night two I stayed at #184 to be closer to the river, and boy did I make a mistake. The spot has a trail that cuts through your site for people to go to the restroom and showers.

Drove me and my service dog nuts all night long.

Besides that, the place is pretty happening with so many biker/hiker groups along with the drive-in campers. If you are looking for a quiet site this is not the place for you.

Campground in the Redwoods (quite shady) with restaurant, lodging and campsite for hiker&biker (5$/person), really hot showers (1$ note/5 min), food lockers, sockets and some AT&T network.

We had a camp site almost all the way the end (#113). This was a premium river front site, with good shade and just steps from the gorge trail.

Despite the campground being fully booked, the site was very quiet at night - no music, no loud people.
Sites allow 2 cars (and it is enforced). The site would be ok for a 20ft van or trailer, but not much bigger. The parking spots were level.
There is space for 2 tents, a bench/table, and a fire ring.

Bathrooms were close, plenty, and cleanish. Firewood is sold at the store, and the staff visits campsites each evening to take orders.

We had weak T-Mobile reception - data connections were spotty.

This location should be corrected by admins to Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park.

Lots of sites. Lots of variety of in the types of sites available. Otherwise, prices and amenities previously noted are correct.

We just returned from a 3 day stay from this campsite. We stayed in site #186. The site had good shade as well as some sunlight throughout the day. There is a short trail to the river behind the site, which because if the recent rains was flowing very nice. The bathroom/shower was well lit and clean as campgrounds are concerned. We brought our dogs and noticed many campers with their dogs. Unfortunately some of the campers did have their dogs off leash which made walking my dogs a little stressful.

Great campsite. Got lucky that there were open campsites. However parking lot 3 is a great spot for a self contained rig or just car camping. Great price, you can get firewood from the lodge too.

Just make sure to camp NOT next to river for $35 sites.

Token machine add my money...but rangers made it right.

Pass the guard barriere and keep driving. Host of the campground are super friendlies. Great location to spend more than one day.

Stayed here 2 nights since boondocking isn’t allowed along the road. $35 was the cheapest site I found. Other campgrounds I called were $75 and $90. The shower water was hot which was great. Only one unreliable bar of Verizon with a booster so we used the library north of the park for WiFi/work.

Since no boondocking is allowed along the highway, we needed to find a campsite. This one said the campground was full, but self-contained was allowed 5pm-9am. but they had a spot for us and another van anyhow. Paid the $35. Nice site, tight to park because they block off the parking areas from the rest of the site. Good hot showers and laundry was available at a decent price (1.50/1.75 all quarters). get 2 tokens for the shower or you may be cut off before rinsing - saying for a friend ;-)

Very well maintained, clean showers, washing machines, dryers, beautiful nature, lots of campsites

We arrived at 2pm and were lucky to get a campground for our 28ft RV. Wunderfull place. Children (8 and 5y) loved to play in the river, while the parents have their camping chairs stand in the river and enjoy a drink. Clean showers with token to buy. Small Supermarkt with everything you need. Helpful staff. 👍

We came here after 9 pm. The usual "Campground full" sign was there, but on the side of the building there was a note saying RVs and self contained vehicles could camp overnight in the day use parking lots 3 and 4 (enroute parking). Sadly, I didn't take a picture. In the morning, the note was gone. Self registered parking is 45 $, but I don't know if the enroute parking costs the same. Anyway, the lots were nearly empty, we could refill our water, use the toilets and were saved from camping somewhere illegally. Can recommend!

Try to go site 136, it is 36$ but it is like riverside there is just the road between the site and the river! Beautiful giant trees on this site!

Super nice, beautiful, $50 river site, $35 others. Sign said full, but asked and got a site!

Here is where you can find a cell phone signal in the park, as they are hard to come by! Go to site #118 and cross the large wooden footbridge. Go up a small hill for 200 feet and you will see the historic Pfeiffer cabin on your right. Climb the double track fire road on foot behind the cabin for 5 minutes, and you will have 3 bars of Verizon there. I did a Speedtest and it was 27 down/8 up from this spot.

We were so happy to find this place last minute. There is first come first serve around 3-4pm. The rangers were very helpful. The place is in a very natural state. We’re surrounded by trees, a lake and had our own fire place and table. We had a shower and restroom close by. As there aren’t many places around Big Sure, it was a perfect spot for 35$. As two young woman we can totally recommend that spot.

$35/night ($7.99 reservation fee when booked online) for basic no hookup site. Picnic tables and fire rings at site. Beautiful campground with lots of hiking opportunities right in the park and trails that will get you into the Los Padres NF and Ventana Wilderness. Paid Showers (takes tokens $1 = 1 token, 1 token = 5 minutes). Not all sites are flat so levelers would be useful. Overall a great campground to unwind and relax for a night or two.
