Latest Check-Ins

Save yourself time: they currently dont use the online form because of a system problem. You have to write a letter why you apply here instead of in your home country.

We were here on wednesday morning, she told us to come pick it up on Tuesday next week. We begged her we wanted to celebrate Independence day on time in Ghana. We called her on Friday at 10am, passport was ready at 12. So make up a good story and you receive it earlier 😀

Report Check-In

Still the same like that others wrote. Applied for the 1 month single entry visa. Was there on Monday 10:30 and she told me I could pick it up on Friday. Because of my african clothes I negotiated it to Thursday. Cost me 15000cfa I also updated the photo with the official price list and things you need to bring. Also applied for Laissez Passer for 3000 cfa and I needed to write a letter with all the car insights and when and where I want to enter and leave the country.

You now need to apply online on ghanaembassy-benin.com beforehand (picture attached).
You have to click "yes" when asked if resident in Bénin if you want to proceed.

Requirements:
- printed online form (it somehow comes out with mistakes and missing parts, but they don't seem to bother)
- 4 copies of the paper application form that you can get at the consulate.
- 4 pictures
- copy of covid vaccination certificate (I added yellow fever just in case)
- copy of hotel reservation (on the form you must name two places, but one might be enough)
- copy of Bénin visa (the ladies had a moment of hesitation when I handed over my one month e-visa paper, which definitely proves I'm not a resident, but it went through)
- 15k CFA

You can only get 30 days single entry visa. Valid for entry within 3 month.

Application Mon-Thu 9h-12h, pick-up 3 days later 14h-14h30.

Report Check-In

I managed to get a 30 day visa. At first they said I could only get a 48hr transit visa as not a resident here. However with some negotiations 30 days is possible. Took them 3 days to do it.

now is possible to get Laissez Passer( for overland) here. it costs 3000cf, accepted only in the morning(Monday to Thursday).

Report Check-In

Nice staff, nice experience. We got our 1 month visas in less than 24 hours for 15000 SFA. Submitted 4 copies of everything, but the lady returned us some passport copies and booking confirmations.
** There was a lady staying at our hostel who didn’t get the visa and was told it was only for Benin residents. Our experience was different, but it might be a bit of a lottery.

Report Check-In

We got a single entry, 30 day visa here for 15000 cfa with German passport.
We had a chat with the lady boss of visa department who was super friendly and very funny. She only asked about our current travels and were we had been to.
We had to hand in:
one form filled at the embassy plus 3 copies of it (nearest copy shop is on iOverlander)
4 pics
1 copy of passport
hotel booking (we had two just to be safe)
copy of yellow fever certificate
copy of CDP/car registration
hand written letter explaining our current travels and why we couldn't apply in our home country

The friendly secretary called us the next morning and we could pick up the visa.
