Description

Also known as “Valle De La luna”.
It’s just beside the Talampaya park so it apparently has some similarities. This one is provincial (run by San Juan government), whereas Talampaya is national (and way more expensive). We only visited Ischigualasto, based on other comments, and we recommend it (especially if you get to sleep and have a hot shower for free like we did).

We payed the entrance and took the last guided tour. When you return from the tour, you can park at this spot (gps coordinates). You may visit the museum and look around the few handcraft shops in front. We asked about the bathrooms and hot showers to one of the artisans, they said they were free to use; actually some of them live there in mobile homes on the same parking lot. The park staff also stays there in special facilities (makes sense, park closes at 8pm and it’s in the middle of nowhere). We parked in front of the artisans and used the showers. We had no issues, nobody came or charged us for staying overnight. We left in the morning and passed by the main entrance without any problem.

Departure every hour between 9-16h in winter. Tour in your own car with a guide. 5 stops with explanation. Very interesting and beautiful. Prices got a lot higher from the 1st of January.
Non recidents pay; 20.000 pesos!!!
We found it quit a lot and managed to get some discount as we found it not reasonable that you pay so much for a NON English spoken tour. So only in Spanish. The tour is about 3 hours, you have 5 stops in the park, they are very amazing! Tour starts every hour in summer. Own vehículo needed!

Cela dure 3h30.
Le restaurant propose une cuisine simple et vraiment bon marché !

The tours seem to run longer during summer/holiday season, we arrived at 14.30 and went on the tour 15.30

Tour lasts 3 hours. Interesting rock formations + some info given by guide (only Spanish!). Extremely hot!

We visited Valle de La Luna in the Atacama Desert shortly before and I’d say you don’t have to do this tour if you’ve seen Atacama and unless you a very interested in dinosaurs ^^

We paid 2000 pesos for the night tour plus 2500 for the day trip. You take the tour in your own vehicle (about 40km on the day tour), but always following the guide.
The night tour only happens on the full moon (4 days a month), and the prior reservation is required. If the weather is cloudy, the tour is canceled.

When we arrive here around 12:15pm, it’s the fastest tour is at 1:00pm. We’re starting with another cars following the guide(He got on the first car) exactly at that moment. We feel like private tour. Don’t miss to enjoy Barrancas Coloradas! We didn’t decide to take a tour in Parque Nacional Talampaya yet. But try to camp tonight there.

Super park. 800PP per person for the tour. It lasts 3 hours and you do it with your car. There is a restaurant where to eat, craft stand with rodicrosite stones really cheap and super beautiful! There is also a campsite with showers in the toilet. It was written from 20h but we were able to take them at 6 pm after asking the lady or we buy tickets. Hot and clean. The turn is really cool and a guide is there to explain to you, it was really superb and worth the visit! (The last visit of the day is at 2pm, you have to be at 1:50 pm in front and bought its ticket (50m after parking))

super parc.

Same as the previous comment explained. We did the 600 per person tour with 5 stops at 8:00am. It lasted 3.5 hours and we really enjoyed this beauty. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and made the experience greater. The landscapes are stunning and the history here interesting, especially as it relates to dinosaurs. It's a yes from us!

New prices since January 1st 2020:
600 pp for the 5 stops option (10 US$)
400 pp for the 3 stops one (6.60 US$)(if I remember well) but not available when we were there.
Higher prices but to be expected with all the devaluation and the inflation they have right now, I guess it’s more or less the same than before if you make the conversion in US $.
Great ride in the park, but for me the view was not really nicer than all the other free spectacular desert landscape we saw in northern Chile and Argentina.
Still worthed for me, since the explanations of the guide about geology and paleontology were really interesting (Spanish only) and the museum was also great: lots of fossiles of dinosaures, “pre-crocodiles” and “pre-mammals” with accessible, complete but not too long, very interesting informations about all that (spanish only).

Arrived on the 30/12 at 6pm and they told us that the last tours are on the 31/12 from 9am to 11am after they closed until the 03/01 morning.
Because of the rain season he also explain that all the tour isn't open - only three stop - but that we would pay half price (250pp instead of 450pp).
Also he told us that if it rains at night all the tours the next day would be cancel because the road in the park would be under water.

no luck for us it rain as hell during the night so we couldn't visit the park.
Still the view from the Mirador is beautiful

Well worth the trip out here. Very beautiful drive through the park. We arrived to late in the day, so slept in the parking lot. Took a 9am tour. It was impressive but if you’re looking for great pics, after 4 would be better for the right light. Can get WiFi from parking lot, closest to buildings

We did the last tour at 4 pm. Perfect with the low sun and sunset. Last 30 minutes we had to drive in the dark. The gravel road is ok, but definitely not perfect. Our Ducato from 1991 managed but not very comfy.

The explanation is only in Spanish, very interesting though.

The park itself is nice, but we preferred the NP Sierra de las Quijadas.

Awesome park, we liked it a lot! We did the normal day tour - very helpful and friendly guide. We did it with our big rig, the gravel road is in good shape! Worth the money. Recommended!
