Something not right?

Description

The road condition is very bad.
Much of the surface is corrugated.
The alternative road on the south side, called piste du Batha is shorter but thrue the sand dunes. Also slow but more beautiful. There you need 100% 4x4.

Latest Check-Ins

the (washboard) road is not bad at all, just find the speed that suits your vehicle, I’m doing a steady 87 kmph, 4WD Hilux with prof shockabsorbers, and that evens out the washboard, barely noticable.
What concerns me though: around Terjit the scenery is beautiful, for the rest, like this road it is ‘more of the same’ and very uninspiring.

It’s all about speed. We rolled with 95km/h to Ouadane and the washboard and corrugations are evened out by suspension. It’s a desert highway we truly enjoyed. Nothing to worry about on a motorbike.

Agree the road is very doable now (still corrugated but not so terrible). But the piste through the dunes is also picturesque. Take one each way is our recommendation!

We just drove the road and they are at the moment maintaining it to get rid of the corrugations. There are a few bulldozers along the track to make a flat surface. Very smooth sailing for most of the road from Atar to Ouadane.

1h30 by the road ouadane-chinguetti (115km). for the other way in the desert (90km by one oasis), you need a guide or a good gps because the tracks in the sand are very bad (wind and rain). so to be safer, we took for free a man in Chinguetti to let him in Ouadane and he showed us the tracks in the desert ;-) good compromise!

not only from Ouadane.
this road is damaged even from Atar.
Only a pass is tarmac. But pass is beautiful!
