Was closed when we passed by there today at around 1pm on a Wednesday afternoon. So I guess don’t count on it, and be happy if it’s open :-)

Beautiful area big parking lot. Gets quiet later in the evening, no crazy noise at anytime beside cars coming in and out. Across from a waterfall and river. Stayed to the back of lot and we weren’t bothered through the night. 22’ bus

Easy to find, very nice paved road to the top. Vault toilets were clean. When we got here, we were the only occupants but someone else arrived overnight. Make sure you reserve online in advance. There's cell service in the valley below as well as the campground. The views are incredible. It's so quiet!

Zapata Falls Campground 37.61862, -105.56021

Nice little free camp ground. Looked clean, but I picked up two trash bags of litter. Mostly beer cans and bottles, shotgun shells and plastic bottles. Didn’t get it all, but most of it. They need to Putin a pit toilet and trash barrel. Always leave it cleaner than you find it. 🙂

Lot of song birds, singing well past sunset. No one here. I am surprised. Can hear the train occasionally, but overall it’s a nice spot.

Beautiful place. Perfect for a rest. Comfy new beds, kind owners. Clean and modern. Spot in the backyard for the bikes! Good kitchen and they even have a tv with Netflix you can use. Stayed two nights waiting out a storm and it was perfect.

Pernoitamos por uma noite, local seguro, possui banheiros limpos e água potável. Tem ducha no final do posto à direita, onde também fica a torneira de água potável. Possui uma cafeteira muito boa, mas à noite o local é um pouco barulhento.

The road was closed on the way up, but we parked at a pull-off to the side of the road near the main sign. Popular spot for ATVs and recreationists but it cleared out by sunset. Quiet, private, safe. Good cell service and close to town.

Quiet residential streets for parking. We parked next to the nature preserve and it got some action in the early morning with people walking their dogs.

Thermal pools located next to the Mamas place also on iOverlander. Mamas place is a dusty car park near the road with no shade. I rode in here first by accident and asked about camping not knowing the Mamas place was actually next door, looks like the same drive but splits in two. At this place there are a couple of palapas and a concrete car park set back from the road, don’t really notice the road noise, about 7 small thermal pools of different temps and access to the river. My advice would don’t swim in the river 90% of waterways are polluted in Guatemala… I paid Q60 for one person. Basic toilets. YouTube:

Hotel y Baños Termales El Brasilar 14.82876, -89.35200

My preference is the business next door, left hand drive not in here. This would be ok for big rigs, but if your camping go next door. Neither business will let you have WiFi so good luck on that one. The guy here is a bit entitled so be prepared for a grumpy reception. Both have thermal pools. The place next door is far far quieter…. No music and less patrons. Just my 2cents.

What a wonderful place. It's quite but sometimes you can hear the train blasting its horns.
Laundry is just 50m on the same street with a great and fast service.
Gas station, supermarket, Pizza... all you can walk.

We arrived around 8pm
It wasn’t easy to find a place for our 37’ but we did. They are a lot of holes in the parking lot so be careful. Lot of noise but no one bother us

Stockman’s Casino 40.83071, -115.76271

We were not sure if we should use this place because of the bad reviews.
But we gave it a try and were actually surprised how clean our stuff was (fresh smell, no stains). The owner was not the friendliest Nica we met during our trip, but he was also not agressive..
I think if you‘re not in search for your new BFF you are fine to use this laundry.

Awesome hostel to stay at with relaxed vibes! There is space for one maybe two camper vans to park in the back. Close access to all the amenities. The hostel has everything available awesome pool, clean bathrooms, fast wifi, and communal kitchen. It is located a few minutes out of placencia so it’s quiet at night but the town is still easy to visit. The owners are lovely and very accommodating. If your heading to placencia I highly recommend staying here! We enjoyed our time so much we ended up extending our stay twice! The hostel does wood fire oven pizza as a group every so often as well.

Absolutely stunning location just a couple miles outside the Canyonlands National Park boundary. About 10 established campsites with fire pits and picnic tables, surrounding a low rock formation, with gorgeous views in every direction. $15 per night fee, minus a 50% discount if you have a national park pass. Some sites are reasonably level and/or can accommodate a trailer or mid-size class C, but there are also a few that would probably be best only for a tent (and some sites have explicit tent pads). The road in from the highway is gravel and suitable for any vehicle, but the road into the campground proper is a combination of gravel, dirt, and small sections of slickrock, and while it's okay for 2wd (if not wet), I wouldn't come in with anything longer than about 26 feet. The campground was about half full when we came on a Wednesday night in early April with our 23-foot van. Two pit toilet buildings, one at the entrance to the campground and another by the sites in the back. No other services. Pretty much zero Verizon signal; this is a place where you'll want Starlink. There are also a number of free dispersed sites along the road to the campground, some large enough to accommodate multiple rigs.

Hamburger Rock Campground 38.19185, -109.67046

The road was pretty muddy, but we made it in a Ford Fiesta. Tent camping was great on the edge of the treeline. There are a bunch of shotgun shells and bullets from various firearms around the trees, and we did find a live 5.56 round in one of the firepits, so be aware and check them thoroughly.
Great spot overall

We went the same way to Nampula, and additionally took a detour to Gúruè (detour tarred). Most of it is easy going (as long as it's dry), although some parts require patience. There is a 10 km stretch somewhere (between Mutuali and Ribauè) that was badly washed away and a little difficult to drive.
But the landscape beyond Molumbo is stunning and well worth the effort.

A must stop when you are in the neighbourhood: Beautiful spot on the lake, nice green lawn, great facilities (really nice hot shower), friendly people and good food.
Our first night they hosted a large group for a wedding so Dan & Trish were very worried it would disturb us, we even got that night for free, while they warned us up front and we did not even notice them because the garden is big enough to find a beautiful secluded spot for your car. Nothing negative from us; highly recommended place.
