Very clean and modern hotel, with secured parking underground for my motorcycle (and another car).
Good price, paid 30 USD/1 person, comfortable bed, clean room and bathroom, hot water, AC/heater, fridge, toiletries, drinking water.
Free breakfast, good for Iraq standards, but bring your own coffee, only tea available. Average wifi. They accept and exchange dollars. Very friendly guys, speak english. Eateries and groceries around. Very good base to explore the amazing mountains around.

From what I can tell, this is free camping provided by the Loop Power District. They do over free electric camping and primitive campsites. I thought Hwy 22 would be loud, no problem once it got dark. Definitely would stay here again.

This is a little building used in a piece of land for hobby purposes. We camp there at night and in the morning, around 8h the owner came and invited us for coffe and rice (he was with his grandson)

In here you can find ovens to make charcoal (curious) and electricity

If you don't like to be inside, there're flat surfaces nearby (and trees to place a hammock)

Great restaurant with very good pizzas. The food arrives fast. Also, Beppe now has an additional place to accommodate travelers, not far from the restaurant, with 8 rooms with hot shower and wifi. 30,000 Burundian Francs.

It wasn't so perfect. It was quite busy place. We were seen by at least 20 people. However nobody approved us and in general Lao people are friendly so we felt safe

Hotel Fortuna Verde

Nice hotel on the Pan-American highway & located only 12 miles from Paso Canoas border.

Owner gave us a tour of hotel & beautiful grounds with lots of trees on the property. They have standard & premium rooms and both are nice, comfy & very clean. Premium rooms are a little bigger & have 2-3 beds. Gated & locked parking lot is secure at night. We stayed here the night before our border crossing into Panama.

Owners live on site & are super helpful. We got restaurant recommendation for Ciudad Neily nearby.

WhatsApp owner Miriam at +506 2783 9292 for reservations & let her know when you are arriving so they can open the gate. Spanish & English spoken here.

Future plans:
This would be a great place for overlanders to camp the night before or after crossing the border at Paso Canoas. I spoke to the owner & told her about iOverlander & how we all use it during our travels. They have nice flat parking areas, banos, outdoor hangout area & place for kids to play. So check with owner as this might be an option in near future.

If you just walk on the beach, it is easy to find. Watch for the tide.

You need to climb through some rocks, shoes will be useful and enough drinking water.

Free, just need to sign in with the park ranger. 150m along the boardwalk from the ferry/ water taxi pier.
The Concha De Perla is teeming with wildlife
- green sea turtles eating away at the algae on the rocks
- Galapagos penguins and sea lions shooting around
- marine iguana swimming across
- heaps of tropical fish
- tones of birds in the mangroves and overhead.
Arrive early to avoid people. We had the lagoon to ourselves.

Free, just need to check in with the park ranger at the entrance to the National park.
4km down the sandy track passing heaps of giant tortoises to photograph along the way.
Beaches and view points to stop off at along the way.
We hired bicycles for $10 pp for the full day.

Mauricio and his son Nicolas worked tirelessly to help fix my tie rod on my old Land Cruiser. Mauricio worked till late into the night and even offered his workshop to sleep in although it was not needed. They also have a machine to skim and reline brakes disks and shoes as well as a tire balance machine. We highly recommend them. Nicolas speaks fluent English and his dad also makes an effort to help in English. We enjoyed a nice sandwich and tea in their break room before we bade them goodbye. The price was more than fair.

Nice stay! Felt very safe. RV area separate from trucks, so less truck noise. But, like other have said, very close to I30, so lots of traffic noise, didn't bother us; quiets down around midnight. Did not get a chance to check out bathrooms. Would definitely stay again.

Also for us, no road restrictions. Traffic going in both directions. No problems at all, every once in a while you need to back up a little to let trucks or other cars pass, but lots of road pull outs to let others pass.

We had a lot of rain the night before and it was still raining during our trip. The road was still driveable for any kind of car. Only the views were of course blocked by the clouds. It took us in total 5,5h from Mocoa to Pasto. We are driving a Landcruiser.
